“We booked Lucia’s PIZZA TRUCK for a lawn party in the presidio and they were AMAZING. Easy to work with, great price, and all the food was so good, from salads and appetizers to wood fired pizzas. They were so gracious to make gluten free and vegan pizzas on request. Our guests loved them.“

“I came in for an early lunch. I was greeted by a friendly staff person who explained the menu and got my meal going right away. I chose the moderate middle option but there was so much food I will not need dinner. A flavorful lentil soup started the meal. The plate that came out after the soup was piled high. The salad with avocado mint dressing was so fresh. The beans with onion are good but I do like beans spicy. There was cayenne pepper on the table to give them a bit more kick. A good sized helping of roasted butternut squash and potatoes smelled heavenly and tasted good. I was completely taken with the greens. I am not a huge kale fan. These were cooked perfectly and covered with a shallot sauce. The greens mixed well with everything else on the plate and were tasty by itself. Yummy. I enjoyed all this with a bottomless cup of delicious tea. Really a perfect lunch for a chilly afternoon.“

“The best German food in Berkeley. Anja is the warmest, kindest, and most caring chef in the world! She and her team turns out pastries that are not too sweet, and her dishes are always sourced locally to be the freshest! I can always count on Anja’s to walk out with a smile :)“

“Delicious!!! I had the veggie panini with a side salad and my daughter had the mozzarella and tomato panini. The bread was perfectly cooked and crispy, both sandwiches were so tasty and the salad had a light refreshing dressing on it. The service was excellent, very friendly and quick. Great little place to eat, they have a nice selection of healthy salads, paninis, juice and smoothies. Highly recommend!“

“I saw someome make a TikTok about this place and immediately knew I had to add that to my list. I headed out to Berkeley on a Friday morning to try it out and I bought a friend who isnt a big fan of Thai and or Asian food. I was thankful to experience this style of northern Thai cuisine I believe the order Tanzie referred to it as. The hospitality and service was above average. I enjoyed all of my food and so did my friend. The pork jowl was agreed to be are favorite out of the all the dishes we tried. Very juicy , flavorful and just all around deliscious topped off with that crispy fried garlic. The brown rice over that soft scrambled "lava egg" was to die for paired with the savory tomato based minced pork that I ordered extra spicy of course. The star of the show that me and my friend both agreed on had to be the "prik nam pla" which I would describe as a sweet and spicy vinegar or fish sauce based dipping sauce accompanied by a nice punch of spice from the thai chili peppers. I dont have any complaints whatsoever and I will definitely be back.“

“This is such a bomb salad and juice/ smoothie spot. I was so pleasantly surprised! Portions are huge, and very filling. Def get a fresh juice while you’re there. Friendly service, clean, and bathrooms are available to use during a pandemic. Highly recommend, and can’t wait to go again.“

“Pizza is delicious, ordered achari style paneer pizza, was balanced in all respects. Also ordered Manchurian style soya chaap (plant based wings). These were sooooo good!!!! They were filling and had extremely balanced sauce, not overly sweet and had perfect amnt of sauteed vegetables as part of wing sauce. Super good.. Loved it.... Staff is friendly too, and Nate in particular was a kind person, thanks!“

“For a fast casual spot the ambiance is fine! It’s not anything special but it’s pleasant. I ordered a crispy chicken Bachan’s bowl which was just delicious! A good amount of each ingredient keeps each bite tasty and varied in texture and taste. I am eager to try this with the fried cauliflower- maybe I’ll add some to the order next time. The bowl was generous enough for 2 servings.“

“One of the best restaurants in Elmwood (4/5 green stars) It’s so easy to walk right by Summer Kitchen without even noticing it. It’s a narrow shopfront with just a few tables outside and it’s easy to miss as you ponder ice cream and other offerings from neighbors. Well, take it from me – forget ice cream and get a baked item from Summer Kitchen instead! Or try a pizza, or an egg salad sandwich – possibly the best egg salad sandwich you’ll ever have. But if you are limited for time, try one of the fresh fruit pastries (galette) – they seem expensive at $12 but they are big enough for two and totally worth it! I’m giving Summer Kitchen 4/5 Green Stars for social and environmental impact. The positives are obvious – most of the ingredients are organic and locally sourced. Everything is made from scratch and there is transparent sourcing of the meat and fish (Mary’s free-range chicken, etc.). There are a reasonable amount of vegetarian options and you can definitely find some vegan dishes too (salads, sandwich, pasta). Summer Kitchen could make the biggest environmental impact by scrapping beef from the menu – replacing it with plant-based alternatives, ideally. Beef has a carbon footprint of around 10 times that of chicken and over 100 times that of pea protein, on average. If everyone one the planet ate 1 lb. of beef per week (the US average), total greenhouse gas emissions would increase by one third! I’ll write a post illustrating all of this soon on the Green Stars Project. So I really appreciate that Summer Kitchen makes more effort than the vast majority of restaurants on improving sustainability so that’s my suggestion for the biggest opportunity for improvement – cut the beef.“

“We live in this neighborhood and if you know the North Shattuck and Northbrae Neighborhoods, there is no shortage of walkable dining. We just love Jerusalem Organic Kitchen for a consistently well prepared meal, friendly staff, and really good ingredients! They serve a quick, casual, healthy, and absolutely delicious meal. Everything we have tried is great with balanced seasonings. My personal favorite is the Shawarma Platter. Don't miss the perfectly prepared salmon platter with a generous serving of salmon that won't set you back an arm and a leg. The salad with chicken shawarma on top is great too. And they, of course, prepare a great middle eastern platter and falafel platter. And if all you want is a sandwich or burger - you won't be disappointed. Get the idea? We like their food and for good reason - they don't try to be all things to all people - they do middle eastern cuisine and do it really well. Try it - you'll like it!“

“Rather than pizzas we would call them quiches or tomato tarts. Choice of toppings and meals on site or to take away. It's very good, surprising in quantity and size, but it's worth a try. We take the rest home. To try, absolutely.
Kid-friendliness: Child-friendly establishment
Wheelchair accessibility: On the ground floor, easy access.“

“North Beach Pizza has the best GF pizza in the bay area. It's even better than my homemade GF pizza, and you can't beat the service. North Beach Pizza is great for family dinners with gluten free pizza and salads.“
“I have been a regular Tilden golfer since 2019 (especially on Tuesday nights...when the real pros come out!). The recent opening of The Overlook has been a fantastic addition to the course. They did a great job with the drink selection, with lots of local beers on tap. The outdoor space is so nice, with heat lamps and a fire pit. Also, if you haven't been out to Tilden before, you will love the views and serenity out there. It reminds me of getting a drink at the top of a ski resort in Tahoe. Bravo Tilden!“

“Love this place! My husband and I go at least once a week for lunch. Staff is so sweet and they sometimes give my dog extra meat they have. The chicken gyro bowl is so good. The chicken is actually tender and moist unlike a lot of other places.“

“I have nothing but good things to say about this restaurant. They start serving breakfast with good burritos at 8 AM and have affordable and large portions for lunch serving sandwiches, salads, and soups (or a combination, which I recommend) for less than $16 (usually $14).
It is partnered with the bar Raleigh's so there is plenty of outdoor patio dining space.
Recommend coming before 11:30 on weekdays just to beat the lunch crowd as the line outside can get quite long.“

“Some of the best Old School pizza in the East bay, not quite new york, not quite california, but an original slice that has been the same way, for over 50 years. Located in the center of an esteemed food court on Euclid Street in Berkeley, La val's is Berkeley restaurant history.
La Val's basement still periodically has entertainment, bands, and theater going on. But whatever you do, order the special and enjoy a slice of La Val's historic Pizza. This is real Berkeley food.“

“Good momos, just really tasty and savory. Prices are pretty high for what you get, and it's not the most pleasant experience (paper plate, really flimsy plastic silverwear). If you don't mind that, or just plan on getting takeout, it's really good!“

“I gave this location a try on Friday. I was the first one. My takeout order came out pretty quickly. It took 10 minutes. I ordered a spicy one and it had some kick to it. I wish the portions were a little bigger. Fortunately, I ordered a side item to help fill me up. For the price, I would say, it is above average... but not as good a value as Curry House when it was still around.“

“Tender Greens | Berkeley has become a go-to place for occasional food delivery & dining in house in the mid-afternoon. The food is tasty, fresh, & plentiful—consistent—& always tastes good. Chefs develop interesting & tasty seasonal menus. I have explored a number of plates & bowls, especially savor the greens & seasonings that go alongside the entrees. Have enjoyed chicken, salmon, beef, & vegetarian options as well as all the sides. Sandwiches & salads are delish. As is the mint lemonade & watermelon fresca. The place can be hopping or not, & the service is top notch & personable, professional. They do robust to-go orders & have spacious outdoor garden seating. Sure wish I’d discovered it sooner!“

“I started coming to La Burrita when I was a student in 2005. I love Mexican food, and theirs is so good. Ever since graduation, I still come back anytime I'm in Berkeley. I think I ate there 3 to 5 times a week. The chicken quesadillas and also the chicken enchilada combo (pictured) are all I order. The staff are always super nice. Food is still made fresh and fast, just like it was 20 years ago!!“

“Life changing milkshake. Burger was pretty mid. I have traveled the world drinking milkshakes along the way - this is a top two milkshake I’ve ever had. The only one that might be better is at Carl’s in Fredericksburg, VA. It is exceptionally close. Spectacular strawberry shake. The burger was just fine. The fries weren’t crispy enough, but I’ll be damned if the shake wasn’t worth traveling for. Would return.“

“It's always a good day when you can get some Slivers. The green sauce is of course amazeballs, a must-get every time you buy a pizza. I feel like their prices are reasonable for what you get, and they almost always add in a couple of free extra slices. My favorite is the yukon potato and corn pizza, but the mushroom pizza is a close second.
I also love love love the fact that their gluten-free and dairy-free pizzas are the same price as their normal pizzas, you don't see that in other restaurants.
Rarely ever a line and when there is it moves very quickly. Service is always fast and easy.“

“There are a lot of negative reviews, but honestly I've eaten here several times and always had a good experience. In my experience, the food is delicious and varied, the service is perfectly fine, the atmosphere is nice, and the restaurant is clean. The only thing I can find fault with is the desserts, and that's not even a big enough problem to drop my rating.“

“This is a top go to spot for me. I’m not always around during their hours, or forget the options of places, so I get something from here about once every 6 weeks. As vegan I either get the falafel sandwich or plate. I prefer the plate. It amazes me how simple the combination of vegetables and sauces are, and yet it’s so flavorful. I feel full and healthy after eating at this joint and the people working there have such a nice vibe. If vegan they will swap out hummus for the yogurt based items.“
