“Im not a salad guy, but my wife loves salad.

Picked up a salad today from Green and Grains and boy was I surprised at the portion! 1 salad was enough for my wife and myself; with leftovers for later!

Got to speak to Ian for a little bit and was surprised that all the ingredient are organic and locally sourced. Including the pickled onions being made in house!

For a guy who doesn’t eat salads, I would say the Asian chicken was the best salad I’ve ever had!

Going to try their sandwiches on the next visit!

“I have been wanting to try this place for a while, and I’m so glad I finally did. The food was very fresh and delicious, and reasonably priced for the quality. The braised lamb sandwich had soft flatbread, crunchy herbs and vegetables, a tangy sauce, and perfectly tender lamb. The service was friendly, warm, and the food came out quickly. Fava is a lovely lunch spot and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a pleasant lunch in North Berkeley.“

“Was really sad to see my favorite unique + quality brunch spot in the bay change format to being fast casual. It was such an easy brunch pick to take out of towners or friends to.

Now instead, they've become easily one of the best fast-casual food in the bay. So I really can't complain. I guess their format changed worked because I've eaten here more often than when they were full service. The value for the money you get here is pretty nuts. Still just as good ingredients & just as good preparation, all at a more approachable price point & form factor. What really gets me is I'm truly getting restaurant quality cooking for a unique cuisine I don't see very often, just a version that works better to-go. When you compare to some of the other casual lunch/dinner places in the area that have a similar format, it's really no competition. You'd be hard pressed to find a better way to spend $20-30/pp. I also love that they kept some of my favorite guilty pleasures from when they were a full service restaurant, like the knafe pancake.

Their in-house online ordering system is pretty slick and a good deal too. Works just as well as doordash without any of the bloated prices. Wouldn't mind seeing this spread around to more restaurants.“

I like the fact they have options to get smaller pick and choose items as well as having fresh rolls and momos, which the other similar Tibetan places don’t offer. “Lucia’s is our favorite pizza restaurant, and a fav in general. The owners and staff are super nice. And they really take food restrictions seriously. One of our family is celiac and so we started going for an amazing GF pies!! But everything is delicious. Reservations are always a good idea here. “Every Table meal subscription is amazing. Delicious, healthy foods at a very fair price. 5 dinners only $38. The best part is my area has brick and mortar stores where I just walk in and buy my meal prep for the week...Meals cooked in a local kitchen by real chefs with local fresh ingredients. I'm busy all the time and although I love cooking it's hard to cook for just one person. The majority of meals are 600 calories or less. An easy way for me to stay in my calorie deficit. I just had the chicken schwarma bowl and it was soooo good. Tasted just like a home cooked meal. Highly recommend“

“I’m touring a condo in Oakland for a client making an offer and I stop for a quick bite at a tiny sandwich place next to the Grand Lake Theater. OMG, Unbelievable sandwiches, smoked meats, homemade pickles, peppers🫑 and memorable pulled pork, etc. I hang out for a few minutes while Jerry makes my Cuban sandwich, and he has me try their smoked bacon, homemade meatballs, and more. “I was looking for a salad somewhere other than Mixt and was directed here by a friend. Their salads are so good, full, fresh, and they're so flavorful you don't need much dressing at all. It was so good that I went back for lunch the very next day. I've only had their grilled chicken in a salad, but it's delicious and can be gluten free. Definitely worth the DoorDash delivery!!“

“I'd say the pizza is pretty darn good. And the service was excellent also. I had a plain cheese pizza then style done extra well done. My friend had a barbecue chicken. Both were outstanding. Service was also top-notch. Dining room is clean and comfortable. Bathrooms are also clean. Convenient free parking on a Saturday evening at 8:00 p.m. All around a positive dining experience. Also note, although not this particular Zachary's, but the Oakland Zachary's provided pizza for a recent work event. Pizza was fantastic. Everyone loved it.“

This restaurant is underappreciated and therefore punches above its weight as far as quality and table availability. They have many pods from chicken biryani to paneer wraps with fries, a personal favorite of mine is the fried veg momo, another one being the paneer tikka masala with rice. Although I only referenced 4 stars for service it was because this was a school. The students are earnest and take tremendous pride in their culinary training.

We don't dine here more frequently as my partner works elsewhere and it is hard for him to make the last seating.“
