“The morning buns are unbelievably good, the best pastry in there.
Of course the butter croissants, American butter or French butter, is the best you'll find in the East Bay.
The tiny round pastries with the dab of jelly in them are super good, very sweet, but super good.
Always a line to get in. Only three or four people can fit inside at a time to order.
A little inconsistent, one day the croissant was dry and crispy a third of the way in. Most other times they are very moist and just the outer layer crispy, so if it doesn't seem the best you've ever had one day come back another day and it will be.“
“I can't say enough about Urban organics
And about Nils and Brittany. I'm sure they have other wonderful people that work there but I've only met them.
Their hospitality, their kindness, add amazing work does not go unnoticed. I heard from someone they were able to cater for the super bowl & that must have been spectacular!“

“My boyfriend and I always come here when we’re craving for something delicious and healthy. I order the same thing every time because it’s so good. 😅 The Salmon with Quinoa is my favorite! I should try something else next time because my bf have tried a few different ones and he always end up liking it. I also love the chocolate chip cookie! Wish they sell a pack of 12 😂“

“What a cute place with great food and atmosphere. Located in walnut creek this little gem of a spot is definitely on our come back to list. Our server was polite and well informed giving great suggestions when asked what should not be missed. Boy he did not steer us wrong. We really enjoyed the Lechon , pork belly with delicious pickled red onion..served on rice bites. Also the sea bass was very much enjoyed. We did start with the wedge salad with amazing blue cheese , very nice. Finished our lunch with some vanilla gelato Affogato...our server was attentive and friendly
Very pretty patio area and they were dog friendly for our poodle as well. Definitely check this place out in Walnut creek. Ee will be going back“

“So many awesome Russian goods to buy at Babushka Market and Deli! Finally got to try their Piroskis, but they were running out already at noon. They didn't have the Beef & Chedder & Jalapeno so I changed my order to the Beef & Mushroom which was still good. They can heat it up for you if you will eat it right away, or you can take it home and heat it up when you are ready to eat it! Also tried the strawberry cake, the worker said it was her favorite cake. It was good, but wayyyyy too sweet. If you don't want a super sweet cake, the strawberry cake is NOT for you!“

“If you're looking for a unique taco place, yet can't eat meat due to dietary restrictions, ima put y'all on Tacos Oscar -- one of the BEST taco spots in the heart of Oakland. This taco place is to NOT be slept on!
As I approached this place, the one thing I really liked was how hipster and how modern they made their dining experience. They're really with the political times, but besides that, they take making tacos on a WHOLE another level.
Their tacos are a little bit on the expensive side -- but because they're artisan made, that's what MAKES it unique. I tried their vegan broccoli taco, drowsed with their thick peanut and soy sauce. The tortilla was made out of 100% corn and nothing more than that. In addition, their agua fresca is on point.“

“Had the Italian style sandwich here..... Really solid sandwich. What really got me though is the cook gave me this fantastic in-house made habanero sauce then I just ended up dunking over every bite I was absolutely in love with it. Really cool to sit at the counter and watch them cook, chef was such a friendly dude and the server as well! Really enjoyed the vibe of just hanging out and eating my meal“
“The gluten free cookies that actually taste great. Such a treat. Quality ingredients, not too sweet. The traditional gluten free Alfajores cookies are amazing.“

“A new contender for the best kalamata olive bread (4/5 Green Stars). It’s Day 3 of Shelterfest, sponsored by Coronavirus, and I was feeling kinda satisfied (i.e., less guilty than yesterday) after making an earnest attempt to work remotely. So I took myself off for an afternoon stroll and, landing in the vicinity of College and Alcatraz Ave, decided to pick up some bread if there was any to be had. La Farine was quiet and there was plenty of bread left, even at 4 pm. (So pop in to support them if you’re in the area!) I usually get their rustic baguette but this time bought a loaf of olive bread. The servers were super friendly and one asked me if I wanted some free pastries. Ya-ha I did! I scuttled home with my bag of goodies and heated up one of the freebies – a chocolate croissant (toaster oven, bake for 3-5 min). The croissant doesn’t look that amazing, I have to admit, but it tasted wonderful. Buttery, flakey pastry and just the right amount of good quality chocolate. Later I had the bread – I’m a big fan of Semifreddi’s Kalamata olive bread so the bar was pretty high. I have to say that it was up there with my favorite bread – it was a little fuller than the Semifreddi’s loaf, but that wasn’t a bad thing as I sometimes feel that I’m eating a lot of air with the latter. In summary, I can’t believe I’ve never reviewed La Farine before because I’ve gone there many a time. I recommend the three things mentioned above and also their Irish soda bread is really good and pretty authentic. I just found out that La Farine started out in this location in 1977 – almost as old as I am, said Bilbo. I'm also giving La Farine 4/5 "green stars" for social and environmental impact, based on these reasons: • It seems that they use conventional white flour and organic whole wheat flour. • Their website is lacking on information on ingredient sourcing (compared to, say Acme). I’d like to know more about their flour, eggs, butter, chocolate, etc. • La Farine donates leftover products to area food banks and senior centers • They also support Bay Area schools and other local causes • Their bags are made from post-consumer recycled paper and printed with water-based inks. • Most of the menu is vegetarian and some of the breads are vegan. “You couldn't find a better coffee shop - the baristas are so kind, helpful and friendly. The coffee is the best we ever had and latte drinks perfect, rich, and soothing. Every bite of baked goods is delicious - the best chocolate croissant ever (including Paris) The avocado toast made with focaccia bread is so delicious - Lever is a little piece of heaven in a crazy world. Love the ambiance too. Parking can be difficult, but you can always park at Safeway shopping center and easily walk across the street! It truly is such a treat in our day.“

“Excellent authentic Mexican dishes with menu items for the more California Mexican pallet. Very reasonably priced. It can be a bit spicy but some dishes can be adjusted. Excellent flavors and good sized portions make it a great value. Looking forward to coming back and trying different dishes!“

“I ordered a coconut layered birthday cake with buttercream frosting and pineapple filling, and it was absolutely delicious. Moist, with melt-in-your-mouth frosting, and not too sweet, plenty of coconut. The staff are very responsive and accommodating. One of the best bakeries around!“

“Nothing but love for this place. When I was house hunting in the area, I would stop here to grab a bite and talk to myself. How fortunate would it be if I can come here all the time?
That wish came true
I usually go for their mocha which has a little less weight than other mochas but it seems lighter so I guess I’ll take that as a win
All their baked items are amazing and you will definitely balloon if you eat them all every day lol.
But seriously I’ve never had a strawberry and cream scone until this morning and I ate it so fast I could not even take a photo to put it up here. I can never have a scone at Starbucks ever again.
They have a six dollar breakfast sandwich, which is an English muffin with eggs, cheese, and a home made spread. You can add bacon or sausage if you want, but I usually don’t.
At some point, I’ll stop filling up on breakfast and bakery items and leave enough space to try their sandwiches and soups which I hear is excellent“

“My favorite Easy Bay cafes for working during lockdown - #1, Hudson Bay One of the things I miss the most during lockdown is having a place to get coffee and work for a while – yes, I know I’m not alone there ;) So I’m going to share my very favorite places to work during lockdown – i.e., cafes that have a fair amount of outdoor seating (and preferably decent Wi-Fi coverage too). The Hudson Bay café was a fairly regular haunt for me during normal times, and during lockdown it’s running pretty well with lots of safety precautions: Perspex screens, sanitizer, and a window counter if you don’t want to walk inside. Staff members were super-friendly as usual and there’s always good music playing (it’s faint outside, so I could just barely hear The Smiths and The Weeknd drifting out through the side door). One thing to note is that the prices are very reasonable – my veggie burrito cost an amazing $7 (or maybe $7.50) – and it had guac in there too! And it was big! I also had an oat milk latte and a slice of pound cake and the whole tab was around $14. For comparison, I paid the same amount at another place this week for a coffee, cookie and plain croissant. Lockdown Stats: • Seating: There are about 6 tables outside and chances are reasonable that you’ll get a spot. If you’re stuck without a seat you can hang out on a bench outside the library across the street. • Bathroom: Another good thing about going to Hudson Bay to drink a lot of coffee – the bathroom is open! It’s surprising how many cafés have no bathroom availability after selling you a big old cup of diuretic! • Hours: Note that they close at 5 pm at the moment, not 6, but they’ll let you linger till maybe 5:30. • Weather: Hudson St. faces southwest, so it’s often pretty warm, even around closing time! • Budget: As mentioned above, Hudson Bay is one of the cheapest places around (esp. on College Ave.) to get lunch. I’m also giving the Hudson Bay Café 4/5 “green stars” for social and environmental impact, based on this: • Very longstanding independent café and community gathering spot. • Coffee beans come from McLaughlin roasters in Emeryville - another East Bay staple. • Some of McLaughlin’s coffee varieties are organic and most are bought directly from cooperatives or family farms that support communities. • It kind of goes without saying that plant-based milks are available – and raw turbinado sugar too. • The menu is a bit more traditional but there are a few veggie and vegan options. I think they’ll also make veggie/vegan mods to a menu item, if you ask, since everything is cooked to order. • There’s not a lot of info available about Hudson Bay’s sourcing of ingredients – my feeling is that the owners want to keep things as unpretentious as possible. Since it’s lockdown I’m not going to bust their balls over it :D • Waste is minimized pretty well, even during lockdown when most places are loading on the plastic. “This place serves joy by the cup and happiness by the bite. The coffee? Bold enough to turn any morning around. The tea? A perfect hug in a mug, no matter the weather. And the pastries? Golden, flaky bites of pure magic that might just ruin other desserts for you. The vibe is cozy, the staff is friendly, and my taste buds are still doing a happy dance. 10/10, would abandon my kitchen for this place again.“
