“I needed a Persian love cake made gluten free for my wedding, it was very hard to find someone to create my vision and make it gluten free, while still remaining authentic. I can’t believe how beautiful the cake was, my jaw dropped when I saw it. And the price was very reasonable. I’m so happy my coordinator found you guys!“

“We were gifted our first ever Bake Sum box. After trying just one bite of a Yuzu meringue bun I knew I needed more. Ordered our second BSB last week and shared amongst the roomies, huge hit. Well baked, not too sweet, great flavor combinations. 10/10 would recommend the Bake Sum box. If you can’t grab a box, you can grab al a cart day of pick ups just to tide you over until you can get a box 😋“

“I come here 2 times a week. The staff is great!! Milly also knows my kids have a dairy allergy, so he always makes sure the drinks are made properly.
The quality of the macha is unmatched. It is whisked properly for each ordered drink.
The macha donuts are delicious and have a few great flavors.
I also have to give credit to the staff when they are busy and short handed. The staff has always kept their cool and balance taking orders and making them.“

“Rolled up at 7:20 AM on a Saturday and found parking very easily on the street in front and practically no line. Caneles weren't available but I don't know if that was because someone had managed to clean shop in 20 minutes or they weren't ready yet. We got:
Quiche Lorraine: excellent, stood up well to microwave reheating and really appreciated the saltiness from the ham, was a full meal with some fruit and a slice of the walnut loaf on the side
Chocolate almond croissant: excellent texture and sweetness
Pain au chocolat: it was good but probably wouldn't buy again simply because I think other things taste better and are more worth the calories/money
Cardamom and walnut scone: my sleeper hit, ordered it because I saw someone else raving about it and wow wow wow so unassuming looking but maybe my favorite?
Ham and cheese cup: my husband's favorite; I had doubts about the hard boiled egg inside as I'm not generally a fan but it wasn't chalky in the slightest
Walnut bread: texture is perfect, soft yet with great body, one of the best loaves I've had in a long time
Caneles: didn't buy this time but have before and they are *chef's kiss*, perfect little hint of alcohol, burnt (but not bitter) sugar taste
Also bought Paris-Brest but that's for dessert tonight.“

This Black-owned bakery offers the most delicious, fresh-baked treats with a perfect balance of flavor and texture. From the buttery, flaky pastries to the rich, moist cakes, every bite is a delight. “A new contender for the best kalamata olive bread (4/5 Green Stars). It’s Day 3 of Shelterfest, sponsored by Coronavirus, and I was feeling kinda satisfied (i.e., less guilty than yesterday) after making an earnest attempt to work remotely. So I took myself off for an afternoon stroll and, landing in the vicinity of College and Alcatraz Ave, decided to pick up some bread if there was any to be had. La Farine was quiet and there was plenty of bread left, even at 4 pm. (So pop in to support them if you’re in the area!) I usually get their rustic baguette but this time bought a loaf of olive bread. The servers were super friendly and one asked me if I wanted some free pastries. Ya-ha I did! I scuttled home with my bag of goodies and heated up one of the freebies – a chocolate croissant (toaster oven, bake for 3-5 min). The croissant doesn’t look that amazing, I have to admit, but it tasted wonderful. Buttery, flakey pastry and just the right amount of good quality chocolate. Later I had the bread – I’m a big fan of Semifreddi’s Kalamata olive bread so the bar was pretty high. I have to say that it was up there with my favorite bread – it was a little fuller than the Semifreddi’s loaf, but that wasn’t a bad thing as I sometimes feel that I’m eating a lot of air with the latter. In summary, I can’t believe I’ve never reviewed La Farine before because I’ve gone there many a time. I recommend the three things mentioned above and also their Irish soda bread is really good and pretty authentic. I just found out that La Farine started out in this location in 1977 – almost as old as I am, said Bilbo. I'm also giving La Farine 4/5 "green stars" for social and environmental impact, based on these reasons: • It seems that they use conventional white flour and organic whole wheat flour. • Their website is lacking on information on ingredient sourcing (compared to, say Acme). I’d like to know more about their flour, eggs, butter, chocolate, etc. • La Farine donates leftover products to area food banks and senior centers • They also support Bay Area schools and other local causes • Their bags are made from post-consumer recycled paper and printed with water-based inks. • Most of the menu is vegetarian and some of the breads are vegan. Interested in writing green star reviews? If so, contact me!“

“My first experience with the house of bagels, but in the late 60s, I attended high school with one of the sons and also had my first Onion flat. After moving back from New York and year 2000 I was glad to see that they were still in business, And that whenever I am in and around always without hesitation, stop by to pick up some bagels or two or three🥰“

“Simple bakery with a focused catalog of delicious breads. I tried the small sourdough olive bread, and it was chewy, tangy, and had a good amount of olives mixed into the small roll style bread. The bakery seems to lean toward larger loaves, as there were tons behind the counter to choose from even though it was later in the day. The counter staff seemed busy with duties so they weren’t overly attentive, but they were happy to help me for my order. The vibe is like homey, local bakery, and I’ll go earlier to see if there are scones or other small savory breads to sample.“

“The food and service were great. Fast, kind, and delicious. The interior space is definitely not a 5 atar dining experience. But for a place to sit and eat breakfast, it was fine. The selection was good, and the pastries were clearly made fresh. They did a great job making the food and drinks we ordered. Would definitely go back again.
Kid-friendliness: Kid friendly breakfast options. Donuts, bagels, cinnamon rolls, etc.“

“I look forward to every trip I make to the East Bay and especially the mornings, when I drive just down the road to this old school donut shop. They make donuts the way I use to like them as a child over 50 years ago. I especially love the apple fritters and the breakfast sandwiches, but all the donuts are great! If you remember the donuts of long ago, long before the Krispy Kreme and other modern gourmet donut nonsense, then give Alhambra Donuts a try!“

“We ordered several flavors of cupcakes and one small cake to serve as the dessert at our daughter and son-in-law's wedding this past weekend, after having tasted multiple flavors a few weeks earlier. The cupcakes (including GF and vegan options) were all outstanding - so delicious, moist, and beautiful. The cake was equally fabulous and attractive. Many guests agreed that they'd never had better cupcakes, or a better dessert at a wedding. So good and so memorable - just what our daughter hoped for.“

“Wow, I’m so glad we found this place!
I ordered a Matcha ice cream crepe and my friends got Berry Bliss — plus an ice cream float that I didn’t get a pic of. The cashier gave us plates and spoon and said “You’re going to need this for when the ice cream melts!” Which was pretty funny and unexpected. It saved us though, because that ice cream will melt and drip from the bottom of the crepe cone.
10/10 taste! We got here at around 8pm, so it wasn’t too busy. They also have a little photoshoot area with props and accessories.“

“I had ordered Tals Sufganiyot for Hannukuh today, but ended up having to call and cancel because I was in a car accident on the way so couldn’t make it in time for their closing. They were kind enough to come have one of their team members hand deliver it to our house. Such a kind act on an otherwise bad day that you just don’t see businesses do anymore. And, not to mention, it was delicious!! Thank you for your Hospitality and we’ll be back soon ❤️“
“The cutest little coffee shop attached to the Claremont. The service was impeccable. Attentive, kind, friendly, and warm. The drinks were delicious. Plenty of little snacks for hungry mouths. Games for playing. My wife would get a soy cappuccino in a ceramic mug every morning. I'd get a hot tea with honey, and a chai with almond milk later. Prices were reasonable compared to how much shops nowadays. Excellent shop! Highly recommended!!“

“I just want to point out this place! The baked goods are just like those on the cozy streets of Europe, fresh and incredibly delicious! Now I often stop here, get a cup of espresso and always grab a couple of treats for my wife. They have a huge variety of breads! They said they bake everything in the morning, which makes the baked goods special!
If you never stopped here, hey, just try! Believe me, you’ll love it!“
