Saffron Studio offers sourdough workshops and classes that are unique, intimate, and fun. Athena is a knowledgeable, professional, and phenomenal teacher who is helpful and well organized. She demystifies the process in a thoughtful, approachable way, sharing tips, tricks, and insights from deep experience. The atmosphere is warm, welcoming, and remarkably friendly, feeling like a cozy afternoon baking with old friends. The classes are well thought out for kids, including patience, jokes, fun activities, and coffee for parents.

The bread is absolutely delicious. The pumpkin swirl sourdough is scrumptious and a huge hit at Thanksgiving, and quite affordable for a huge loaf. The apple sourdough loaves are loved, and the chocolate croissant loaf turned out amazing with complex flavor and the perfect crust. Classes include making cute sourdough gnomes, an amazing sourdough starter, and instructions on how to bake the first loaf. Participants feel comfortable making sourdough at home after the sourdough 101 class, and it turns out great. Whether one has baked before or not, this is the perfect class to learn everything about sourdough. The experience is a highlight of the month, and highly recommended for an activity and/or to try the bread.
