“Eunice Gourmet Café is a hidden gem! The coffee was amazing. I tried The Ash sandwich and was completely blown away fresh ingredients, perfect flavors, and honestly one of the best sandwiches I’ve ever had. I’m more than willing to drive the extra distance just to have it again!

“A very cozy place in the financial district. Even though we went on a weekend, there were still a lot of people working there. Their pour over coffee is reasonably priced and they also provide coffee beans in the shop. I like the paintings they have inside. The coffee also comes with a postcard telling us where the coffee beans come from and the history, which I think is very nice. If you like coffee, I recommend giving this place a try.“

“I am Italian. We passed by here by chance in 2017 and apparently 8 years later we are still talking about it. A dive into the past and a focaccia to remember; a bit on the soft side compared to the way we have them where I am from. Packed with care.“

“We were gifted our first ever Bake Sum box. After trying just one bite of a Yuzu meringue bun I knew I needed more. Ordered our second BSB last week and shared amongst the roomies, huge hit. Well baked, not too sweet, great flavor combinations. 10/10 would recommend the Bake Sum box. If you can’t grab a box, you can grab al a cart day of pick ups just to tide you over until you can get a box 😋“

“Absolutely loved the egg tarts. The crust was perfectly flaky and the custard was smooth, rich, and not overly sweet. The surprise add-on of cinnamon on top made it even better, it added such a cozy, unique flavor that really stood out. Fresh, delicious, and definitely worth coming back for. Highly recommend.“

“I realize vegan isn't trending anymore and so I was concerned that this place would be doing poorly. Went for the first time today and I was so happy to see a line of people ordering bright and early, and going for some of the vegan things. not only was it absolutely excellent (best croissant I've had in a long long time, and certainly best vegan croissant), but it was quick, loads of options, and in a great neighborhood for foodies. My husband had a PB chocolate cookie and I took a bite. Also excellent. The pistachio croissant was too decadent for me, but i feel that way about most sweets. the arroz con leche apricot i felt the apricot overpowered the arroz con leche but to his palate, they were perfect. He also has the ham and cheese croissant (not vegan) and said it was his favorite thing. Grateful for this bakery. Maybe will get a loaf of bread in the future.“

“This place makes the absolute BEST Fougasse! It is olive-y the duck fat it’s made with makes it, crisp, light, and perfectly moist. The crusty outside is lightly salted to perfection. Their pastries are also exquisite, I haven’t had anything I didn’t like, but I ALWAYS come for the Fougasse! Best to get there early when they are nice and fresh and warm and before they sell out!“

“Came on a Sunday around 10 am and waited in line for around 15 minutes to order. The interior is super cute but very limited seating so we had to wait a while for seats to open up.
Maison Nico had an amazing selection of pastries but my friend and I decided to get some classic ones- a plain croissant and a brioche slice. We both loved how airy and light the croissant was and the brioche slice was also amazing- it had a perfect sugar glaze and was super crisp on the outside yet light and airy on the inside. Both paired well with the lattes that we got!“
“The best almond croissant everrrr! I love their modern store and it looks beautiful, the only reason for the 4 star is that there was no indoor seating. Its like they dont want folks to sit inside. They are made for “fast paced” ordering but they are not wanting people to pause here and sit - thats why there is no seating along their bar area at the interior circumference to the store. Its like they removed 15+ chairs? Why?“

“Finally decided to stop in to pick up lunch today and was very happy I did. We got the breakfast sandwich with sausage and the mushroom melt. Both sandwich on tasty aromatic English muffins (Rosemary for the mushroom, sun-dried tomatoes for the sausage.)
My first bite into the mushroom melt was a nice surprise as either the mushroom or the muffin spread had a sweet tangly flavor. The sausage breakfast sandwich was generously stacked with sausage and egg. Well worth an already reasonable price.
Excited to try the apple brioche we picked up for after dinner—the bakery’s owner, Jamieson Leadbetter, warmly instructed me on the best way to enjoy the pastry at home.“

“Sesame just started doing croissants and I had a plain one. It was delicious, technically perfect, lots of butter with a little tang (possibly from a sourdough element that the person there told me about). I have tried their cakes which have a lot of flavor and know-how. I had a cardamom financier I believe; it was great.“

“As an Oakland native, this is the best (and cheapest) egg tarts you can find PERIOD. They’ve never changed since I was a kid and the prices…it’s $1.75 as of 2026. The pastry selection is the same, the recipes, the grandpas drinking dollar coffees. Although it’s not as popular as the Napoleon bakery right next to it, the real ones know they have better egg tarts. It’s really part of the Oakland Chinatown history!“

“Adorable! Old school, great baked breads, good pastries🥐🥖 The morning bun flavor was amazing, but it was dense and too hard-chewy. No way I was going to get a plastic knife through it to cut in half in my car… I’ll definitely be steaming and then crisping it at home to make it as enjoyable as it should be😊
The chocolate croissant🥐 was good, but it was all soft…Had to also crisp that in the toaster oven at home. Plus the dark chocolate was a little overly sweet compared to most higher level chocolate croissants.
Staff is suuuper friendly, clearly regulars come and love this place for good reason… It’s charming and very worth coming to 👏“

“A new contender for the best kalamata olive bread (4/5 Green Stars). It’s Day 3 of Shelterfest, sponsored by Coronavirus, and I was feeling kinda satisfied (i.e., less guilty than yesterday) after making an earnest attempt to work remotely. So I took myself off for an afternoon stroll and, landing in the vicinity of College and Alcatraz Ave, decided to pick up some bread if there was any to be had. La Farine was quiet and there was plenty of bread left, even at 4 pm. (So pop in to support them if you’re in the area!) I usually get their rustic baguette but this time bought a loaf of olive bread. The servers were super friendly and one asked me if I wanted some free pastries. Ya-ha I did! I scuttled home with my bag of goodies and heated up one of the freebies – a chocolate croissant (toaster oven, bake for 3-5 min). The croissant doesn’t look that amazing, I have to admit, but it tasted wonderful. Buttery, flakey pastry and just the right amount of good quality chocolate. Later I had the bread – I’m a big fan of Semifreddi’s Kalamata olive bread so the bar was pretty high. I have to say that it was up there with my favorite bread – it was a little fuller than the Semifreddi’s loaf, but that wasn’t a bad thing as I sometimes feel that I’m eating a lot of air with the latter. In summary, I can’t believe I’ve never reviewed La Farine before because I’ve gone there many a time. I recommend the three things mentioned above and also their Irish soda bread is really good and pretty authentic. I just found out that La Farine started out in this location in 1977 – almost as old as I am, said Bilbo. I'm also giving La Farine 4/5 "green stars" for social and environmental impact, based on these reasons: • It seems that they use conventional white flour and organic whole wheat flour. • Their website is lacking on information on ingredient sourcing (compared to, say Acme). I’d like to know more about their flour, eggs, butter, chocolate, etc. • La Farine donates leftover products to area food banks and senior centers • They also support Bay Area schools and other local causes • Their bags are made from post-consumer recycled paper and printed with water-based inks. • Most of the menu is vegetarian and some of the breads are vegan. “A piece of old San Francisco on one of the busiest blocks in North Beach. Charming decor right out of the 50’s. Excellent bread with the perfect crunch and the mortadellla sandwich is huge and delicious, as well as their homemade biscotti - great with a single espresso! Of course I had to try the bagels (says the NJ in me). OMG good and perfectly priced. Enjoying a little picnic of everything I bought - so good!“

I have knocked to several houses esp when I was still working swing shift I kept my eyes open n still doing it if garages are open when I go hone from work n 1 time called the police station when 1 of the neighbor’s garage was opened n no one answered when I knocked her door . Let’s have a neighborhood watch all over “ HERCULES THIS IS OUR HOME AND WE HAVE PROTECT IT AS WELL AS THE PEOPLE WHO LIVES HERE . “蛋撻 I tried their egg tarts and overall had a good experience. Both the yellow egg tart and the white fresh milk egg tart have a very nice egg flavor. They are not overly sweet, which I really appreciate—the sweetness level is just right and well balanced.
The filling is smooth and flavorful, and you can tell good ingredients are used. However, the crust is where it falls slightly short for me. The pastry is more like a combined or pressed flaky crust, rather than the traditional old-style egg tart crust with very distinct, visible layers. It’s still pleasant, just not as crisp and layered as a classic version.
Taking everything together, I would give it about a 7.5 out of 10. If the crust could be improved to have that classic, multi-layered flaky texture, these egg tarts would be close to perfect. That said, they are still very enjoyable, and I would recommend trying them if you like egg tarts that are flavorful and not too sweet.“

“Based on the rating I wasn't expecting much, but after two months of going dairy free, these pastries more than hit the spot. It's not that easy to find this many pastry options in one place, with so many details on dietary restrictions. The berry muffin looked a little flat but it was moist and full of berries - delicious, the apple turn over had a good crust and filling, the pop tart was a little too sweet for me with the glaze but also good crust and filling. I bought the day old, 25% off items and they all still tasted great. I'm a fan and this was a 5/5 for me. Staff were nice and patient with all the questions. Thank you Mariposa!“

“LOVE this bakery!!! Gayle and Pamela are so kind and accommodating. We asked them to make our wedding cake in their signature chocolate raspberry flavor (and to keep the natural pink frosting!). Inside of the factory was even more humble than I expected, but it was interesting to see how to make fortune cookies right in front of my eyes. You will be standing close enough to feel the heat from the machine 🤣
When you pay $3.50, you can write a personal message on a paper and the staff there will put that paper in a fortune cookie, which is so cute!
If you go to Chinatown in San Francisco, which is the world biggest Chinatown in the world, it is worth to stop by this factory to bring a little fun to your friends and family.
My usual experience of fortune cookie was dry and tasteless, but their fortune cookies were like Japaness soft senbei. YUM!“
