“A perfect batch of 60 (señorita breads) were ready in less than 6 minutes and they were blazing hot and were the hit of the party. I thought I left something and called and they walked all the way out to the parking lot for me, to no avail, but so nice. Anyway I found my keys.“
“This is a newer bakery in the area. It has a small parking lot. The inside has always been clean and the bread always looks and tastes fresh in addition to very neatly presented. My parents like it as well. The service has always been delivered with a smile. As far as the foods, I've only tried the tamales and they were good. The pudin is my favorite bakery item. 😋“
“Drive there. It took one hour. Interesting roads and real hard to find since it’s behind main road and the good thing that I got parking in front of the establishment. The bread there was very delicious. The store atmosphere was good and the service was quick and they were very friendly. I’ll definitely take the road trip again to buy more pan fresco to enjoy with my Minions.
Parking: Plenty of places to park
Kid-friendliness: They were super patient with my Minions in picking there favorite pastry choice.“

“Heyy peeps......This place is amazing.......They got all different types of Guatemalan Food. I have been going to this place for about 10 years at least twice a month. Try out the steak plates. Parrillada Chapina, Mar y tierra & the churrasco Chapin. They all are big plates. Also the soups such as the beef soup or the chicken soup. Also they also got other varieties. The price is very reasonable.
Very recommended👌.“

“I realize vegan isn't trending anymore and so I was concerned that this place would be doing poorly. Went for the first time today and I was so happy to see a line of people ordering bright and early, and going for some of the vegan things. not only was it absolutely excellent (best croissant I've had in a long long time, and certainly best vegan croissant), but it was quick, loads of options, and in a great neighborhood for foodies. My husband had a PB chocolate cookie and I took a bite. Also excellent. The pistachio croissant was too decadent for me, but i feel that way about most sweets. the arroz con leche apricot i felt the apricot overpowered the arroz con leche but to his palate, they were perfect. He also has the ham and cheese croissant (not vegan) and said it was his favorite thing. Grateful for this bakery. Maybe will get a loaf of bread in the future.“

“So this place has something going with the baguette sandwiches. There's not really anywhere within a 10 block radius to get anything that feels like an actual breakfast option that's not a sweet pastry . The problem is that they're served late and the veggie option runs out fast, usually with a mountain of ham & cheese remaining.
Would be cool to have two vegetarian options or just make more cause I'd eat these for breakfast and / or lunch any time.“

“My wife found Mary Kate’s baking before she found a permanent spot, and I have been following her from pop up to this location. I tell everyone about sesame, it is my favorite bakery. The food is fresh, seasonal, organic, creative, and expertly crafted. The people working there are all happy and wonderful, it really is a magical little place. I personally love their cookies, pavlova, galette de rois, frangipane tart, and pumpkin pie. The menu is always changing so be sure to go often!“

“We ordered a vegan chocolate and strawberry cake for my sisters birthday, and she said it was the BEST vegan cake she has ever tasted! The chocolate cake was very moist and the strawberry filling was delicious! I loved the salt in the icing. Just the perfect amount of sweetness. “A new contender for the best kalamata olive bread (4/5 Green Stars). It’s Day 3 of Shelterfest, sponsored by Coronavirus, and I was feeling kinda satisfied (i.e., less guilty than yesterday) after making an earnest attempt to work remotely. So I took myself off for an afternoon stroll and, landing in the vicinity of College and Alcatraz Ave, decided to pick up some bread if there was any to be had. La Farine was quiet and there was plenty of bread left, even at 4 pm. (So pop in to support them if you’re in the area!) I usually get their rustic baguette but this time bought a loaf of olive bread. The servers were super friendly and one asked me if I wanted some free pastries. Ya-ha I did! I scuttled home with my bag of goodies and heated up one of the freebies – a chocolate croissant (toaster oven, bake for 3-5 min). The croissant doesn’t look that amazing, I have to admit, but it tasted wonderful. Buttery, flakey pastry and just the right amount of good quality chocolate. Later I had the bread – I’m a big fan of Semifreddi’s Kalamata olive bread so the bar was pretty high. I have to say that it was up there with my favorite bread – it was a little fuller than the Semifreddi’s loaf, but that wasn’t a bad thing as I sometimes feel that I’m eating a lot of air with the latter. In summary, I can’t believe I’ve never reviewed La Farine before because I’ve gone there many a time. I recommend the three things mentioned above and also their Irish soda bread is really good and pretty authentic. I just found out that La Farine started out in this location in 1977 – almost as old as I am, said Bilbo. I'm also giving La Farine 4/5 "green stars" for social and environmental impact, based on these reasons: • It seems that they use conventional white flour and organic whole wheat flour. • Their website is lacking on information on ingredient sourcing (compared to, say Acme). I’d like to know more about their flour, eggs, butter, chocolate, etc. • La Farine donates leftover products to area food banks and senior centers • They also support Bay Area schools and other local causes • Their bags are made from post-consumer recycled paper and printed with water-based inks. • Most of the menu is vegetarian and some of the breads are vegan. Interested in writing green star reviews? If so, contact me!“

“This place is the best! All of their pretzels are delicious and inventive (Meyer lemon filling? Lox dill & capers so good you'll laugh at Boichik? Check!). They also have Obatzda, which few people here know. Uli and Sabine are super nice, as is all the staff there. They do a monthly pretzel class that is a lot of fun and will fill send you home with plenty of baked goodies.
Highly recommended -- 🥨🥨🥨🥨🥨“

“So I went to 7-eleven in Vallejo the other day and came across a variety of great looking cakes that were individually packaged for about $5 I believe and something told me to try one. I am so glad I did!! I have found my future cake maker. I can’t tell you how delicious Cassandra’s cakes were I still can’t believe just how good they are and I’m so happy I walked into 7-eleven that day lol. I love that they somehow are distributed out here. It was very fresh and I even saved a piece for the next day and it tasted freshly made. 10/10 recommend!!“
“Beautiful space, wonderful addition to the community. Big fan of the grab and go section. However, I've visited over 5 times, and each time I found the drinks to be lackluster with much room for improvement. In my experience, the iced drinks are served with mostly melted ice and not enough ice. Every time I've visited, I've had to ask for an additional cup of ice to chill my beverage. I respect the vision and mission, and would love to see them invest in barista training.“

“I LOVE THIS PLACE!!! I’m a regular customer here. Though I’m a minor, I usually don’t feel judged or small when I go here alone. Nobody asks where my parents are and they give me service. The donuts are yummy! I recommend the long custard filled one and… THE UNICORN 🦄. Sometimes the area is a bit chaotic and I’m sometimes scared easily, but VERY WORTH IT FOR THE FOOD!! I have a waitress who I really like and am friendly with, and I like other servers as well. Though sometimes they get the order wrong, usually they don’t and even give me extra donuts because I’m a cute little kid!! Not that little but whatever. Anyways I really recommend this place. It’s amazing!“

“Amazing service from a place that actually cares about its workers and the food is delicious …got my coworkers hooked on their pastries and empanadas hehe …good veggie options … a very good assortment of teas… this place is a little hidden being back off the street, but it’s well worth the hunt and once you’ve found it you’ll be glad you did there’s a little private sitting area in front of the shop that’s surprisingly quiet for the area a perfect stop for lunch“

“I would eat here again if I was staying at the Hyatt house again. 5 stars for atmosphere because it is close enough to enjoy your food in your room! It is a good atmosphere outside by the truck too but not lots of seating or cute decor if thats what you're looking for.
I was given a free beignet, fresh and hot to enjoy while I waited.
They didn't have the burger when I was there and I was between the mushroom sandwich or a chicken thigh pita. If I could go back, maybe next time I would try the chicken pita. The mushroom sandwich was good but I am personally not a fan of very thick bread. The fries were delicious, thick cut fries and fried perfectly. Nice and hot. Friendly service“

“This place is great!
We got a 3 leches cake and was delicious. And they decorated very nicely too (for a baby shower) I did added the baby bear though (to make it look extra.) but all my guests had doubles and told me how delicious the cake was. I would really recommend them.
They were clear about any extra charges etc. so nice they told me about it before agreeing to anything.
One thing I didn’t like was that I had previously gotten a cake from them and the price has gone up (from 2 months apart.) and when I asked why they didn’t answer my question!
I understand prices for everything is going up, so it makes sense. But it would be nice to know in advance they’ll increase prices.“

“Both hands up for this wonderful coffee place I happened to stumble upon, right outside the skirts of Downtown Berkeley. They're located right on the intersection of MLK and University, right behind the Indian restaurant.
This coffee place is honestly a little bit small, so please proceed with caution at all costs. But it really makes you feel cozy at home. They do have upstairs seating, but rather really limited. It will be full at times, and at times, not at all. It depends on the time that you go.
They have a wide assortment of sweet and savory pastries available as well. I got their ham & cheese scone, as well as their speciality drink, their banana cream iced coffee. I love how balanced their iced coffee is with the banana cream, which surprisingly, is made with ACTUAL banana puree made from actual bananas.
The barista who made my drink was very nice and very chill, and served it rather quick. That's what's up!
If you're looking for a locally-owned coffee shop right here in Berkeley, look no further than Bench Coffee! Trust me, it will be a trip worth it :)“
