“Rustic Bakery gets pretty busy during farmer's market days. Luckily we found seats outside by the bike rack. It is the type of restaurant where you order at the counter and they give you a number to put on your table. We ordered a couple of sandwiches, a Caesar salad and some pastries. Everything tasted OK. Nothing stood out as extraordinary.“

“A variety of delights similar to Ferry Building but do have limitations on availability due to lower supply on Macaroons. A smaller store makes for tight spot if more that 2-3 people but good for pick up to go will swing by if in area and hope they have the flavor of Macaroons I look for“

“I come here sometimes it’s very good histories and overrated for because it’s very good but also located and a very good place and mostly I will give it a fly but today I’ll give it a floor because the varieties of pastries you could choose from there are not a lot“

“Food was good. Onion soup- I gotta say was delicious. Flavorful broth, chunky onions with a piece of bread/cheese broiled on top. Ordered steak frites. Steak was cooked perfectly. Frites were under seasoned and didn't have the herbs as described. Hericot green beans were also cooked perfectly. Apple crisp dessert was delicious, not too sweet. Stephanie (Manager) was super friendly. The only thing they can work on is their service. We were seated and waited for about 10 min before our orders were taken, while a couple seated after us were attended too almost immediately. Another couple was told it would be about 10 min before a table opened up, a couple came in and were seated at the open table meant for the previous couple. 🤦♂️“

“A delightful classic Chinatown bakery that looks like it hasn't changed in decades. They carry all the classics, though I'd recommend getting a cocktail bun (if you're lucky they'll still be warm from the oven). A few small stools and chairs inside, often with a bunch of old fellows sitting around talking. This place is great, don't change a thing ❤️“

“I am Italian. We passed by here by chance in 2017 and apparently 8 years later we are still talking about it. A dive into the past and a focaccia to remember; a bit on the soft side compared to the way we have them where I am from. Packed with care.“

“Absolutely loved the egg tarts. The crust was perfectly flaky and the custard was smooth, rich, and not overly sweet. The surprise add-on of cinnamon on top made it even better, it added such a cozy, unique flavor that really stood out. Fresh, delicious, and definitely worth coming back for. Highly recommend.“

“If you can get a table in this place, you are a very lucky person because all the dishes are fantastic.
You can still hope for a table on the sidewalk if the weather is clement.
All pastries and savory dishes are of the highest quality and the highest level. You cannot go wrong here!!!
Of course, the price is correlated to the quality but it is all worth it!“

“Cannoli was pretty good. Definitely not bad but not the best either but well priced for $6. Cavelli's has a better tasting filling for my taste and all around better at $9-$10 and is a bigger shell. But definitely a decent cannoli here at Victoria.“

“Mariposa Bakery is excellent place to have breakfast or a sweet snack while at the Ferry Building in San Francisco. Tables and benches along the pier by the water is perfect for enjoying the sights including passenger ferries and the Bay Bridge.
Line can be long so recommend you go at an off time between breakfast and lunch or later in the day.
Great to also bring back home or your hotel if visiting“

“I think the fresh milk egg white tarts here are much better than those from another pastry shop also in Chinatown even though the latter one is more famous. At 2-3 dollars each (can't exactly recall the price), they’re not exactly cheap, but I think they’re worth it. The crust is flaky, the filling is rich, and every time I’ve come, they’ve been fresh out of the oven. The hygiene could be better though, and there’s sometimes a line.“

“I had never heard of this place until my mom told me she wanted to come. This is a family owned shop that has been making fortune cookies by hand since 1962. It’s very small inside, the walls are lined with photos of different famous people who have come, and they have lots of different cookie variations and treats to choose from. They gave us a handful of warm (unfolded/not shaped) cookies with our purchase, and the warm cookies were absolutely delicious. I would come back to get some more treats.“

“Ordered a seeded levain bread to go, a lemon scone and the blueberry maple syrup muffin. Perfectly ready early and was notified which was great. The muffin and scone were excellent…tasty! The bread, which is a tad pricey (12.50) was overdone on the bottom so unfortunately the overpowering taste was burnt. Decided to salvage the excellent bread by cutting off the burned bottom! I have not experienced this at other fine, artisan bakeries in the area. May have to try the epi!“

“Not really a sit-down spot, but walked over and got some mini cheesecakes to go. Was impressed at the price and variety of flavors; only $2.50 per individual cheesecake and flavors ranging from caramel apple to s'mores to pumpkin. Excited at the potential of getting like eight different cheesecakes all in different flavors for less than $20. I plan on returning again. Cash only, for those who want to plan ahead.“

“A piece of old San Francisco on one of the busiest blocks in North Beach. Charming decor right out of the 50’s. Excellent bread with the perfect crunch and the mortadellla sandwich is huge and delicious, as well as their homemade biscotti - great with a single espresso! Of course I had to try the bagels (says the NJ in me). OMG good and perfectly priced. Enjoying a little picnic of everything I bought - so good!“

“What a cute little bakery! I came here by chance after an event at the bookstore on the corner, and I'm really glad I did. Other bakeries are pretty chaotic, loud, and intimidating. This one is very chill and calm. The auntie at the counter patiently takes your order, I can't say that for all Chinatown bakeries! I got a green onion bun, a bo-lo bao (called a pineapple bun, because it looks like a pineapple), a cha siu bolo bao, a ham and cheese bao. All were really light and fluffy. My favorite was the cha siu bolo bao! But, also the mango mochi, that were on the counter, those were really really good and my family finished those in minutes. Highly recommend making the trip down Wavery to find i-Cafe!“

“Wow, wow, wow.... hands down and by far the best cookie I've eaten. We were staying just down the street and could smell the deliciousness as we walked down the street, we had to go in and find out what smelled so amazing. Best decision of our entire trip. The fresh made cookies were phenomenal. I have told everyone about them. I'll definitely be going back today before heading to the airport. I only wish we could get it in TN. So yummy!!“

“Excellent choice for local, cheap dim sum in the Chinatown area of SF. You will see people ordering in bulk from here as they are also providers for other restaurants in the area.
There is seating outside with the shed they built. Pieces of dimsum or buns are cheap and ten dollars will get you full for a few hours of walking and exploring the city! Enjoy this hidden gem!“

“Baked Blooms absolutely came through for me last minute! I needed three boxes of cupcake bouquets for a Sweet 15, and they were able to help me on very short notice. I called the day before just to see if there was any way they could make it happen, and Sarah was so kind and accommodating. She went out of her way to set everything aside for me and made the whole process stress free.
The cupcake bouquets were beautiful and such a hit at the party. You can really tell they care about their customers and put love into what they do. I’m so grateful for their help and would definitely recommend them to anyone looking for both amazing treats and excellent customer service!“
“Creamy and flavorful. Used the app Too Good To Go to try out a surprise variety of cheesecakes from Nash Cakes, which I had been eyeing for a while. They were pretty cold when I got them so I let them sit out for 20 minutes before digging in. This really helped bring out their flavors and prevent any crumbling of the cheesecake when piercing through them with a fork. I tried the Traditional, Candy Cap and Lemon Poppy. All three were delicious. It’s hard to really rank them since they all had their own unique flavors. If I had to though, the Traditional would be #1 and then Candy Cap and Lemon Poppy come in at 2nd together. Just depends on what you’re in the mood for. Candy Cap being warm with maple notes, Lemon Poppy being fresh with light creamy citrus notes.“

“Couldn’t wait to sink our teeth into these amazing egg tarts, freshly baked (one of the best!). We were lucky to catch them while they were open since they have random hours. After years of waiting to get them again, these egg tarts are still just as eggy, custardy, warm and flaky (ie, delicious) as ever“

“This outlet in Ferry Terminal is a great option for affordable grab and go items. They have a few sandwiches and some delicious turnovers as well as muffins and croissants. For $7 the ham and Gruyere turnover is a yummy and filling meal. Walk out to Bayside and grab a bench for dining with a view of Treasure Island and the Bay Bridge.“

“Red Hill Cake & Pastry in San Anselmo is a rare gem. I’ve tried a variety of their little quick foods and pastries, and every item has been exceptionally fresh, thoughtfully crafted, and full of flavor. The quality of the ingredients is evident in every bite — clean, balanced, and never overly sweet. What truly sets Red Hill apart is the harmony between elevated pastry craftsmanship and approachable pricing. It carries the charm of a European-style patisserie with a subtle New York bodega sensibility. A standout destination in Marin/Sonoma County for anyone who appreciates high-quality desserts done right.“

“Ive been to Butter & Crumble four times so far. My wait times in line have been: 15 minutes, 45 , 1 hour 45, 2 hours respectively. I can safely say that a 4.4 star rating for this place is absolutely criminal. Its the same phenomena I witnessed at Benu.
Customers come prepared with hyper inflated expectations not overpromised or curated by the establishment. They nit pick and complain about minor details (minimalistic decor in the case of Benu), and pastry price or line wait times for Butter and Crumble.
Yet, they overlook the deep ways that the business has evolved and its even deeper roots.
Name another pastry shop that it has the inspiring Grandmother's rolling pin framed in the corner. Name another pastry shop that has the father of the Owner working register and smiling genuinely at each customer. Name another pastry shop where you see the owner sprinting, smiling, working the drink area, handing drinks to customers, and grinding all things pastry and management. I doubt even Cédric Grolet can be seen wearing all of these hats.
Each time i've visited - the business has evolved to been even more considerate of its neighbors, customers, and community.
I doubt the majority of the less than favorable reviewers have ever worked a 5am baking shift in their life. I havent myself, but my mother was a baker and it's non-stop movement from start to finish. Even breaks only offer short reprieve until the bakers re-enter the sweltering pace of production to meet customer demand.
My original favorite pastry was at Arsicaults OG location until scale and expansion has made their quality still stellar, but variable. My favorite since my first visit is Butter & Crumble.
If SF and the community at large would like to keep this gem prismatic and multifaceted. Please begin or continue to acknowledge how great the product is and how hard the owner and workers labor to provide it for our community.
I would re-wait in the 2 hour line (I nearly did once already) for pastries of this quality. The price is fair and could be astronomically higher as a way to quell demand, but i respect and appreciate the prices as they are.
Thank you Butter & Crumble. My managers and coworkers also appreciate the quality you've provided.
BTW, this months Baklava Latte is insanely good. The Pistachio Cardamom Croissant continues to be world class and it even improves with each visit.“

“Bread & Butter is another gem in downtown San Anselmo. The chipotle turkey sandwich is absolutely to die for—packed with amazing flavor and made perfectly every time. “Good Asian fusion bakery in the “heart” of Chinatown San Francisco. We were able to get some nice matcha flavored baked goods at a very good price. The baked goods were delicious. Service was great from the clerks and efficient. They answered all of our questions with a smile. I did notice that the clerks spoke a Mandarine, unlike the olden days when Cantonese was the main dialect in Chinatown San Francisco.“
“I just discovered Lucky Penny and have already ordered twice in a row! The focaccia, chocolate chip cookies, and cinnamon rolls are amazing. “Convenient location if you work in FiDi, fresh baked goods everyday! I love the Lavender Sea Salt mini shortbread cookies!!!! Their bakery is in Russian Hill (Polk St), but I work right across the street from their kiosk.Tip: take a look at the chalk A-board outside for special items they have that day! I almost walked by the other day till I stopped after seeing the Banana Nutella muffin! The girl said they don't have it available everyday :D I also get the mint chocolate cookie when they have it too.“
