“A variety of delights similar to Ferry Building but do have limitations on availability due to lower supply on Macaroons. A smaller store makes for tight spot if more that 2-3 people but good for pick up to go will swing by if in area and hope they have the flavor of Macaroons I look for“

“Ordered a lemon poppyseed cake and iced latte. The latte was very smooth and perfect. While the texture of the cake was good with the poppyseeds adding great crunch, the lemon flavor of it was missing. Could have added more lemon zest and juice to it. As for the icing, it’s sugar icing. So there is nothing to complain about.“

“Whenever we're in the area in the mornings, I always go to Buvette due Marais for their delicious and wonderfully buttery pastries. I feel comfortable going alone or with friends. This was the first time we've gone for dinner, and we were not disappointed. It was an unusually warm night, and we enjoyed sitting outside on the patio. We both had the buckwheat crepes with ham and gruyere - delicious. Excellent food, relaxing and French ambiance, and prompt, friendly service. “A delightful classic Chinatown bakery that looks like it hasn't changed in decades. They carry all the classics, though I'd recommend getting a cocktail bun (if you're lucky they'll still be warm from the oven). A few small stools and chairs inside, often with a bunch of old fellows sitting around talking. This place is great, don't change a thing ❤️“

“I’d go as far as to say this is the best egg tart I’ve had in the Bay Area.

The pastry was crisp and flaky, while the custard inside was silky, creamy, and incredibly smooth. I do wish they were served warm rather than pulled from a pre-made batch, because that fresh-out-of-the-oven warmth would’ve taken them to another level !

That said, the balance was kind of impeccable. Not overly sweet, but not so restrained that it felt bland either. Nothing about it was particularly over-the-top, it was just really well executed.

Sample is free.. walking distance from Hilton Hotel San Francisco, Chinatown area. In small alley, use your map app... It's fun ! Other nearby shops too. Hilly type terrain. So handicap please prepare. Old streets n shop s, old style have stairs up and down. Adjust as you shop. I been here since the 60,s so Chinatown is old, and still has a many shops around . “Very friendly welcome, reasonable price and excellent americano. We decided to share a piece of frittata and it was so good we got another piece to share and my husband got blueberry banana bread to go. The frittata was fresh and delicious with at least six different vegetables in it. The banana bread was very moist and eggy, yummy and satisfying. Highly recommend this place!“

“Came over for some pineapple buns and egg tarts. A word of caution pineapple buns here do use pork fat so be careful if you have dietary restrictions. Ended up getting the egg tarts, the egg white ones tastes much richer than the egg yolk ones which is surprising. Also got the soy milk and boy was it an expensive cup lol $5.5. Each egg tart was $3. Was it good? Yes. But not to the point of the price point I would say $2 for egg tart and $3.5/4 for the drink kinda good.“

Was impressed at the price and variety of flavors; only $2.50 per individual cheesecake and flavors ranging from caramel apple to s'mores to pumpkin. Excited at the potential of getting like eight different cheesecakes all in different flavors for less than $20. I plan on returning again. Cash only, for those who want to plan ahead.“

“We love Eastern Bakery! We have been buying from them for almost 2 decades and they never disappoint. Finding safe traditional mooncakes can be a nightmare when you have a child with a severe peanut allergy, as so many places use peanut oil. We are so greatful that Eastern Bakery makes theirs using vegetable oil instead of peanut oil. They taste absolutely AMAZING - the vegetable oil makes it so it doesn't cover up the delightful natural flavor. After eating these, others just can't compete. Eastern Bakery also ships all over the US, which is FANTASTIC. Thanks to them my son has been able to enjoy this delicious treat his whole life. Eastern Bakery is a must visit in Chinatown or a perfect spot to order from.“

“A piece of old San Francisco on one of the busiest blocks in North Beach. Charming decor right out of the 50’s. Excellent bread with the perfect crunch and the mortadellla sandwich is huge and delicious, as well as their homemade biscotti - great with a single espresso! Of course I had to try the bagels (says the NJ in me). OMG good and perfectly priced. Enjoying a little picnic of everything I bought - so good!“

“Fancy Wheat Field Bakery is an amazing Chinese bakery on the edge of Chinatown. I ate so many pastries here during my trip to San Francisco and was never disappointed! They are incredibly fluffy and light, with excellent flavor options. The cakes in the window looked like pieces of art. The cost for the pastries was very reasonable. I cannot recommend this bakery enough and hope to return soon!“

“Creamy and flavorful. Used the app Too Good To Go to try out a surprise variety of cheesecakes from Nash Cakes, which I had been eyeing for a while. They were pretty cold when I got them so I let them sit out for 20 minutes before digging in. This really helped bring out their flavors and prevent any crumbling of the cheesecake when piercing through them with a fork. I tried the Traditional, Candy Cap and Lemon Poppy. All three were delicious. It’s hard to really rank them since they all had their own unique flavors. If I had to though, the Traditional would be #1 and then Candy Cap and Lemon Poppy come in at 2nd together. Just depends on what you’re in the mood for. Candy Cap being warm with maple notes, Lemon Poppy being fresh with light creamy citrus notes.“

“With my countless trips to SF Chinatown, I always seem to end up at the same spots. You know the drill—heading straight for the famous egg tarts and mentally preparing for the inevitable line. 😅

This time, though, I was just passing through and didn’t have the luxury of time. No roast duck lunch, no standing in my usual egg tart queue. As I was making my way back to BART, this hole-in-the-wall, old-school, unassuming takeout spot caught my eye, and I’m so glad it did.

There was still a lunch crowd, but the line moved surprisingly fast. I picked up some veggie chow mein, an onion bun, chicken shu mai, and of course, egg tarts.

Let me just say… what a delicious surprise!

Everything was flavorful and exactly what I needed. The chow mein was satisfying, the onion bun was soft and fragrant, and the chicken shu mai disappeared way too quickly. And the egg tarts? Let’s just say I absolutely loved them- not overly sweet, lightly flaky crust!

My only complaint is that I didn’t buy more. I should’ve grabbed a few of the other shu mai varieties and more egg tarts!

A reminder that sometimes the best food discoveries happen when you step away from your usual routine. I’ll definitely be back—and next time, I’m ordering more than I think I need!“
