“San Francisco Historical Landmark, all the locals and neighbors will tell you, or show you, because there is a line out the door at various hours of the day, especially for the buttermilk and giant donuts. Breathtaking experience of culinary delight.“

“I get dozens of bagels from New York Bagels in Strawberry Village every Saturday with my kids; it’s become our weekend ritual. The bagels are fresh, chewy, and come in tons of flavors. We love the friendly, speedy service and the option to buy by the dozen. A top spot for bagel lovers in the area!“

“A very cozy place in the financial district. Even though we went on a weekend, there were still a lot of people working there. Their pour over coffee is reasonably priced and they also provide coffee beans in the shop. I like the paintings they have inside. The coffee also comes with a postcard telling us where the coffee beans come from and the history, which I think is very nice. If you like coffee, I recommend giving this place a try.“

“This is the classic hole in the wall Chinese bakery. I grew up with Chinese bakeries like this in Chinatown of my youth. There's always a line out the door on the weekends. But then I was just so pleasantly surprised at how delicious the pork buns are. I literally grew up on pork buns growing up in Chinatown in New York City. These pork buns, From lung Fung bakery, give those pork buns to run for their money. It came back After devouring the pork buns, to try out the curry buns, which were even more delicious. Five stars all the way.“

“A delightful classic Chinatown bakery that looks like it hasn't changed in decades. They carry all the classics, though I'd recommend getting a cocktail bun (if you're lucky they'll still be warm from the oven). A few small stools and chairs inside, often with a bunch of old fellows sitting around talking. This place is great, don't change a thing ❤️“

“I am Italian. We passed by here by chance in 2017 and apparently 8 years later we are still talking about it. A dive into the past and a focaccia to remember; a bit on the soft side compared to the way we have them where I am from. Packed with care.“

“Absolutely loved the egg tarts. The crust was perfectly flaky and the custard was smooth, rich, and not overly sweet. The surprise add-on of cinnamon on top made it even better, it added such a cozy, unique flavor that really stood out. Fresh, delicious, and definitely worth coming back for. Highly recommend.“

“If you can get a table in this place, you are a very lucky person because all the dishes are fantastic.
You can still hope for a table on the sidewalk if the weather is clement.
All pastries and savory dishes are of the highest quality and the highest level. You cannot go wrong here!!!
Of course, the price is correlated to the quality but it is all worth it!“

“Cannoli was pretty good. Definitely not bad but not the best either but well priced for $6. Cavelli's has a better tasting filling for my taste and all around better at $9-$10 and is a bigger shell. But definitely a decent cannoli here at Victoria.“

“Everything I've ever had from here has been amazing, just scrumptious perfection. I used to live a block away and would go there more often, I've moved a bit further away now but returned today for lunch and sweet treats. The guava puff pastry I got today was sublime, the ganache brownie is my standby go-to, literally the best brownie I've ever had in my life. The soups are always exquisite. Just nice people, everything clean and fresh, a pleasant little community experience around the corner from where I grew up in my family home of 40 years. Coming to Patisserie on California always feels like coming home.“

“I was in the neighborhood and felt like treating myself, so when I came across Boho Petite, I decided to give it a try. Great decision! I am a huge fan of pistachio, and the pistachio entremet I had here is easily one of the best pistachio pastries I've ever eaten. The textures and flavors are perfectly balanced–a beautiful light mousse, a rich and gooey pistachio praline center, and a crunchy base layer. It is a stunning dessert that tastes just as incredible as it looks. Highly recommend stopping by if you're in the Marina and looking for something special! One thing to note is that the options are limited, so don’t expect a large display case to peruse.“

“𝕻𝖚𝖒𝖕𝖐𝖎𝖓 𝕾𝖕𝖎𝖈𝖊 ~ '𝖙𝖎𝖘 𝖙𝖍𝖊 𝕾𝖊𝖆𝖘𝖔𝖓 (Sunday edition/addition) Okay, this one is completely not my fault. Whenever I do my laundry (Hey! I only have enough clean underwear to last me a month or so.) on Balboa Street in my neighborhood early on a Sunday morning (gotta make sure I am done by 10:00am for any NFL games that might be watchable... "Go, Bills!" today), I will normally head on over to Butter Love Bakeshop, which is just four to five blocks away along Balboa from the two laundromats closest to me, to get one or two of their awe-some fresh-baked items (and sometimes a cuppa Coffee[1] if I had not already made some earlier at home in the morning). Anyway, back to the 𝕻𝖚𝖒𝖕𝖐𝖎𝖓 𝕾𝖕𝖎𝖈𝖊, this is a post about 𝕻𝖚𝖒𝖕𝖐𝖎𝖓 𝕾𝖕𝖎𝖈𝖊 (it sez so right in the d*rn title, after all). They always have some great baked goods from which to choose, and usually make them with whatever is seasonal, etc. If I do not see anything that completely catches my eye, I always get one of their Monkeybreads as a fall-back, which are very tasty all on their ownsome, anyway. However, this morning there were several good items that I had to make a decision which to get. I ended up going with a Pear Cuppie (they call 'em "Cuppies", but they are basically muffins) and an Apple-Cherry Scone. They also had an Ube Scone this morning, which I have had before, and knew to be very good, but Apple-Cherry always trumps Ube, Donald. When I ordered my Coffee, the lady at the front counter asked me if I wanted any cream or sugar with it. I gave her my normal rant, "Never ruin a good cuppa with cream and/or sugar!" to which I added jokingly, "... unless you happen to have any 𝕻𝖚𝖒𝖕𝖐𝖎𝖓 𝕾𝖕𝖎𝖈𝖊 cream to go with it." Well... the main baker-lady in the back overheard me and came out with a pastry cream bag-thingy and asked me if I would like some of the 𝕻𝖚𝖒𝖕𝖐𝖎𝖓 𝕾𝖕𝖎𝖈𝖊 cream filling that she was just getting around to filling the weekend doughnut special with... (No she didn'!!!) Apparently, I had arrived too early that they did not have the 𝕻𝖚𝖒𝖕𝖐𝖎𝖓 𝕾𝖕𝖎𝖈𝖊 doughnuts even prepared yet and in the front counter display case. So, of course, I not only took some of the offered 𝕻𝖚𝖒𝖕𝖐𝖎𝖓 𝕾𝖕𝖎𝖈𝖊 cream on top of my Coffee, but I also bought one of those doughnuts to enjoy later in the day. She even had to make it fresh-stuffed for me while I waited. Let's see Dunkin' Donuts do that kinda customer satisfaction! _____________________________ 1. They only have Mr. Espresso, which is a decent enough local Coffee. And they only offer it as regular Coffee only ~ black or with cream or sugar. No Lattes or Half-caff-caps here; it is a bakery, not some d*mn St*rbuckery joint. I forgot to ask what roast/blend they were pouring this morning, though. Mr. Espresso has their roastery over near Jack London Square. One of these days I really need to check out a mini-tour of their operations.“

“Popular place for dimsum, we ordered sesame balls, har gow, siu mai, baked pork bun, taro cake. A table cleared and we were able to taste a few of the items before taking the rest home for parents to try. Freshly made sesame seed balls with red bean inside is a favorite. The others had good consistency and flavor. Service is nice and efficient. Cash only.“

“Back in 2026 for the breakfast smash biscuit sandwich and the breakfast sandwich with ham and Gruyère. Both excellent; they put avocado in the smash biscuit for a vegetarian option at no extra cost. Really excellent food, service, and setting. 2023:Fun place and bakery with an interesting twist. The food has a Japanese accent with a euro-American base. We tried the breakfast sandwich and the egg salad. Both very good and different. The bakery items were fun. We had the matcha pandan and the pan de coco. Both excellent. The matcha in the pandan was subtle. The pan de coco was exquisite. Topped off with chrysanthemum tea and the strawberry lassi (very very sweet).“

“I think the fresh milk egg white tarts here are much better than those from another pastry shop also in Chinatown even though the latter one is more famous. At 2-3 dollars each (can't exactly recall the price), they’re not exactly cheap, but I think they’re worth it. The crust is flaky, the filling is rich, and every time I’ve come, they’ve been fresh out of the oven. The hygiene could be better though, and there’s sometimes a line.“

“I had never heard of this place until my mom told me she wanted to come. This is a family owned shop that has been making fortune cookies by hand since 1962. It’s very small inside, the walls are lined with photos of different famous people who have come, and they have lots of different cookie variations and treats to choose from. They gave us a handful of warm (unfolded/not shaped) cookies with our purchase, and the warm cookies were absolutely delicious. I would come back to get some more treats.“

“A piece of old San Francisco on one of the busiest blocks in North Beach. Charming decor right out of the 50’s. Excellent bread with the perfect crunch and the mortadellla sandwich is huge and delicious, as well as their homemade biscotti - great with a single espresso! Of course I had to try the bagels (says the NJ in me). OMG good and perfectly priced. Enjoying a little picnic of everything I bought - so good!“

“The last time I had babka was in Miami few years ago at a renowned bakery called Zak the baker. Ever since then I get really excited about babka when I go to a baker but nothing has lived up to the hype till I tried this one at Braid.
I was really skeptical about trying the new baker with no storefront but it lived up to the hype. The freshly babka tasted amazing with gooey chocolate and hazelnuts in the cake. Definitely recommend if you're willing to pre order and wait for a couple of days which isn't convenient.“

“Nice bakery in Chinatown that's conveniently close to a parking garage and has been around for many years. It's one of my go-to spots whenever I'm craving classic Cantonese pastries.
I usually stop by for their BBQ pork buns and lo bak go (turnip cake), which never disappoint. The shop itself is clean, bright, and well-organized, and the staff are friendly and efficient.
They offer a great mix of traditional Cantonese favorites and some unique treats:
Signature buns: Crispy-topped baked cha siu buns and classic pineapple buns
Specialty mochi: Huge, soft, and filled with flavors like mango, durian, black sesame, and purple yam
Traditional staples: Joong (Chinese tamales), buttery egg tarts, and steamed cakes like taro, radish, and chestnut
Drinks: Hong Kong-style milk tea and Vietnamese coffee
Seasonal items: Creative mooncakes and Lunar New Year treats
Overall, a reliable neighborhood bakery for both everyday cravings and festive goodies.“

“Wow, wow, wow.... hands down and by far the best cookie I've eaten. We were staying just down the street and could smell the deliciousness as we walked down the street, we had to go in and find out what smelled so amazing. Best decision of our entire trip. The fresh made cookies were phenomenal. I have told everyone about them. I'll definitely be going back today before heading to the airport. I only wish we could get it in TN. So yummy!!“

“One65 was an amazing discovery on our trip to San Francisco. Having spent the first half of our life in Montréal, Québec, Canada where it was hard to find a bad restaurant, we were absolutely amazed by this Bistro which looks more like a high end dining experience. The menu online & the photos attracted us to this location but we were amazed by the well timed service, the crisp white tablecloths, the table setting and the pleasant and calm atmosphere. My choices of charcuterie platter was perfectly sized; the chicken & the pork rillettes where a wonderful surprise. My husband had an onion tart with the crust as perfect as they get & which I envied. He loved his halibut, moist and tender and I raved over my grilled half lobster, so tender that I found myself munching on the shell parts as well. My bread pudding was not of overwhelming size & perfectly flavored. Don chose the Affogato (scoop of vanilla gelato « drowned » with a shot of hot espresso). We wanted to go back today but they are closed on Sundays.?“

There is seating outside with the shed they built. Pieces of dimsum or buns are cheap and ten dollars will get you full for a few hours of walking and exploring the city! Enjoy this hidden gem!“

“We were in Japan Town one late afternoon and was having boba sundae when I suddenly realized that Jina Bakes was just across the store we were. Items were 50% already since it’s almost closing time. We got the Injeolmi Croissant, Kalbijjim Croissant and Hotteok Kouign-amann.
The Injeolmi Croissant was my favorite! It was a great balance of the soft, chewy mochi and the crispy, flaky croissant. The Hotteok Kouign-amann was sensational! The sweet gooey filling was balanced by the nuts and croissant itself. The Kalbijjim Croissant was ok but not worth the original price of $8.50 (since I got this for $4.25 only, it was ok). The center filling was more of an empanada filling (like potatoes and peas) and you can’t taste any kalbijjim. It’s still good for a savory pastry but maybe put more of the kalbijjim.
We had these to go and ate it a day after. The breads are still good upon heating it a bit in the toaster.“

“Baked Blooms absolutely came through for me last minute! I needed three boxes of cupcake bouquets for a Sweet 15, and they were able to help me on very short notice. I called the day before just to see if there was any way they could make it happen, and Sarah was so kind and accommodating. She went out of her way to set everything aside for me and made the whole process stress free.
The cupcake bouquets were beautiful and such a hit at the party. You can really tell they care about their customers and put love into what they do. I’m so grateful for their help and would definitely recommend them to anyone looking for both amazing treats and excellent customer service!“

“My husband and I decided to get coffee and a quick breakfast before heading to Alamo Park to walk around and take a picture of the Painted
Ladies houses.
We stumbled across this bakery and were extremely pleased with the outcome.
I ordered coffee and a ham and cheese croissant, delicious. My husband ordered hot tea and the number 7 which was toast with hummus, cauliflower and something else (he forgot). He said all ingredients were fresh and it really delicious.
If you’re coming to Alamo park or to see the Painted Ladies houses, i definitely recommend coming here to pick up a quick bite and bringing it to Alamo park for a quick picnic. You will not be disappointed.“

“Ordered a seeded levain bread to go, a lemon scone and the blueberry maple syrup muffin. Perfectly ready early and was notified which was great. The muffin and scone were excellent…tasty! The bread, which is a tad pricey (12.50) was overdone on the bottom so unfortunately the overpowering taste was burnt. Decided to salvage the excellent bread by cutting off the burned bottom! I have not experienced this at other fine, artisan bakeries in the area. May have to try the epi!“
