“This food chain has been popping up all across The Bay. I tried a gyro a while back and wasn't wowed. Today, i saw an advertisement for a gyro bowl and it looked pretty good so I came to give it a try. The restaurant interior was very clean btw! I ordered the beef/lamb bowl with extra chicken. The bowl came with a hearty amount of meat, i was just being greedy by adding the extra. 10/10! Fresh tomatoes, fresh cucumbers! Perfect lettuce! That will be my go too! Not interested in trying anything else. It hits every spot.“
“This place is awesome and hidden away! We never noticed it. I almost don't want to say too much about it because then it'll get full of people and we won't be able to get a table! The server was super nice, the coffee was great. the food was spectacular and free baklava came with our bill! Really best Levabese food I've had in a while. yum.“
“I don't know why it took us so long to get dinner here but I'm glad we finally did. The food was delicious and service was warm. Ala Med is a Turkish restaurant but given the broader mediterranean influence, I think people will find a lot of familiar items here. Our table ordered various items:Istanbul trio: Both hummus and haydari were good but I loved the muhammara - this version gave equal importance to both the walnuts and the red peppers and was well balanced with a slight kick from some chili. Eggplant salad: so good, well seasoned, and refreshingManti: meat dumpling with yogurt and tomato sauce- everyone loved itImam fainted: vegetarian eggplant dish - flavorful, easy to eatButcher Kofte: I really liked the seasoning of the meat but didn't love the texture as the meat seemed to be really finely ground but that is a personal preference. I did enjoy the rice and chickpea salad it came with. For dessert there was rice pudding(good) and baklava(average). I liked that everyone got a small cup of tea to finish off the meal.“
“Despite major ongoing renovations, this trusty local spot delivered. “Best steak I've ever had” sez our teen diner. Food, folks, all great even though bar is temporarily upstairs and dining downstairs. Can't wait to return when all done.“
“I love Nick the Greek, this location is newer and very clean - it's also right across from Chabot and next to a boba spot which means lots of foot traffic sometimes. I highly recommend coming here because they never fail to pack the bowls with so much food, the service is also great as they're kind and friendly! If you're a newcomer, I recommend getting the combo beef/lamb bowl and maybe get some fries or hummus with pita on the side! It's a very filling meal as it comes with rice and many vegetables in the bowl - which I love! I'm really getting a good amount of food for the price. Parking is ample, there is a lot of seating and it is perfect to bring large groups. Highly recommend coming here!“
“Well , to start off I do believe I was the first of the day, so you guys really need to clean the grill a lot better !!! the meat tastes burnt!!! other than that the flavors were there , the pickle the lettuce, yogurt sauce, the dill. The pitas were perfect 10 outta 10 . WAYY SMALL PORTIONS!!! S SIGN OF THE TIMES I GUESS...“
“I absolutely love their Greek Salads. I go multiple times a week or have some food Doordashed a pítaW/lamb meat. ( a gyro). So good!! So good!!Vegetarian options: Get The Greek Salad. It's a must.Dietary restrictions: Greek Salad is something a celiac like me can eat.Parking: It is difficult to get parking at certain times and because it's near a theater and many other stores.Kid-friendliness: Always nice to my two kids!“
“Love this restaurant, the food is great. Service is sometime slow but it's worth waiting for. But only Dine In. I'm really, really disappointed that they now have all deliveries come from someplace in Berkeley because that's about a 2 star experience. I won't be ordering delivery again.“
“Hummus was amazing, high quality ingredients and great value in a time when Macdonald’s tries to charge the same for literal processed garbage. My new fav spot! Can’t wait to try everythingMeat was on the dry side and not as juicy as simply Greek (that sadly closed down) but the whole combo was still good. Would be awesome if the meat was better grilled“
“It's by Gypsy's and Kingpin Donuts, as Google Maps kinda hides this gem.Hella good Mediterranean late spot in the Berkeley 'ghetto'! Made quick, but it ain't fast food, with the meat cooked proper, the right proportion of veggies, hummus, falafel, and sauce. The right amount of spice, both herbal and hot, the amount to where I taste everything without being hot bombed. How I did this order was getting a veggie wrap, added lamb and white sauce, so that's cucumber, lettuce, tomato, onion, herbs, falafel, hummus, tahini, peppers, feta in a wrap It's the right move too. Made with that authentic Middle East love and care. This and Gypsy's are my favorite spots in Durant Ave ghetto, which is the best spot for late food in the Bay.“
“The food here is really delicious and the staff are really courteous and kind. It does take a while for the food to be made but it's worth it. It's a bit pricy. I feel like it would be perfect if every item was two to three dollars cheaper than what they list so I don't go here all the time but when I do, I always enjoy the food so much. It's so flavorful. The beef and lamb gyro is definitely the best imo. I've tried a lot from the menu. The salads are good too. It feels like a very wholesome place with wholesome food.“
“My fiancé and I dropped by around 7 PM on a Friday. Surprisingly, the place was quiet with plenty of space to choose from. Opting for an indoor table by the window, we quickly dove into their extensive Greek menu.I went for the garlic fries and a large gyro wrap, while my fiancé chose the hummus and chicken souvlaki. The souvlaki was flavorful but a tad too lemony for our taste. The hummus was solid – exactly what you'd expect. The highlight? The garlic fries. A generous portion that was perfectly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, served with an incredibly spicy green hot sauce and a milder red sauce. We hit a small snag when my gyro was mistakenly delivered to another table, but the staff quickly fixed the issue and kindly removed it from our bill.Overall, our experience was positive and the food exceeded our expectations. We're definitely coming back for more, especially the gyros, and are excited to explore the rest of the menu“
“Ordered hunkar beyendi, Turkish coffee, and pistachio cake. Hunkar was good, they made the eggplant into a cheese like substance that worked well with the rice. Standout was the cake, delicious! Not too sweet, great with the cream foam on the side. Coffee was like 2 sips and it was gone.“
