“Real, honest BBQ. I had the 2 meat combo with brisket, ribs, mac & cheese and potato salad. Best BBQ I have had since I was in Austin Texas! The owner was working hard with the rest of his employees and was the one to take my order. He seemed very nice and was helpful. I work within walking distance so I can see myself becoming a regular here. Canyons is an excellent addition to Castro Valley's food scene.“

“I visited this restaurant twice. It was so good I went back for seconds, lol. However, the second time I ordered a meat meal. The bbq Hawaiin chicken was so good both times, but the chicken Katsu lacked seasoning but was crunchy and hot. I loved the macaroni salad! I will still eat here, but I will order the bbq chicken

“I met a friend for lunch who had picked this restaurant because he had passed it many times taking his son to school. The food was tasty and seasoned, which I find rare when restaurants try to cook southern dishes here in the Bay Area. I had the fried catfish, while my friend had a combo plate. We shared greens, yams and mac-n-cheese. Come and enjoy the relaxed, friendly atmosphere. Reminds me of an Ole Country Juke Joint! Get there early because the parking lot fills up fast! You might even see Roderick himself!“

Really really good food.

Orange chicken was nice and crispy, good cuts and well trimmed.

Cumin beef was tasty, well spiced, and had a good amount of fresh ingredients.

Chow Mein was really nice as well. I think it was chicken and minced pork belly. Pork belly was well spiced and the noodles werent too oily. Cabbage had some nice browning on it.

Steamed dumplings were good. I cant think of anything specific to say but definitely tasty and fresh.

Cute place. Definitely a family run place, nice and cozy. Will be my go to when I want Chinese. Highly recommend you give it a try.“

“Our family has known Peni, Sherry,there kids and grandkids for over 12 yrs now. Once I saw and smelled the bbq over 12 yrs ago I gravitated towards it and have been a huge fan since. Their island q is the best on the mainland and I recommend trying it all since I don’t have a favorite. You can see the passion and love that this family puts towards sharing a little bit of their heritage through their food with all of us. “I’ve just recently discovered ibringdasmoke and I’m glad I did! My first order with them was the smoked brisket…it was so good! I just recently ordered a slab of ribs from them and my friend and I loved it! We got a little sample of the Mexican street corn which was very nice of them. I thought it was ok, but my friend enjoyed it. Their spices and the tenderness of their meats are great as well as their bbq sauce. The meat isn’t overly salty which is great. I have recommended this place to my friends and I will definitely be back!“

“Ate here for the first time and will 100% be back. We got their brisket sandwich, Mac &meat with pulled pork on top, beans, cornbread, and fried pickles. The owner told us he brought the recipe for the fried pickles here with him from Arkansas and they were hands down the best I’ve had- super light but extremely flavorful. And the in-house made BBQ sauce was incredible. Highly recommend!“

“Awesome take out smokehouse disguised as a bodega. If you're looking for some awesome take out BBQ just to the east of 880 from San Leandro go to the World Championship Smokehouse. If you need some groceries and some awesome barbecue this place is even better because it has a little store attached. Service is really fast, the folks taking your order are bilingual, the parking lot is huge, and the food is delicious.“

“I came into this restaurant because usually the lights line was way too long and I was looking for something delicious. And now as much as I love me a good cheap overpacked meal over there at asia, I thought why not try this place out? I love Chinese barbecue. And my goodness did it not disappoint. I was served quickly, efficiently and before you know it, I had some crispy pork belly over rice in my hands.
I didn't get a drink so I had to go nearby to get one. But in between the drive I took a little sample of that pork belly and that initial bite was just absolutely phenomenal. Now I will say because of the way that they get the crispiness. This is more on the saltier side for some of you folks so just be aware of that. But if you're all for that you're going to enjoy this pork belly because it was absolutely fantastic. The crisp to the tenderness of the actual meat itself. You can see it for yourself in the pictures. Absolute chef's kiss. Give yourself a little treat and come by and try this place out.

I will say at the lunch buffet didn't look as appetizing but maybe that's because I'm spoiled with you. Know who but for the barbecue this was immaculate. I'm going to try the duck next

“Authentic Chinese take out place. Food is so delicious and the lady that helped us was very nice. We loved the char siu and thin noodles. The stewed duck with potatoes was very comforting too. We want to try the pork belly next time. We’ll be back.“

She worked with me to sort through options, and helped me come up with a menu that worked well for a Sunday brunch. “My favorite Filipino food spot in the Bay Area! The food here tastes like home. The food is always good whatever you order, and the prices are a great value. I always try to come here regularly.

Just know that the inside seating is very limited and there are not that many tables. So, it's sometimes hard to get seating during busy hours. However, the food is prepared fairly quickly and table turn over is fast.“
