“I catered a small surprise party from Toastique for my husband's 50th. The plans were last minute, but Linh was most helpful. She worked with me to sort through options, and helped me come up with a menu that worked well for a Sunday brunch. Loved the toasts we ordered (avo smash, greek and pb crunch) and the fresh juices were an absolute hit. The fruit platter was oh so good. Everything looked beautiful! Linh was very flexible and delivered on time.“

Their island q is the best on the mainland and I recommend trying it all since I don’t have a favorite. Ricky and Amanda are the absolute best. Patrick is a great manager, and Jerome is also great. We eat in the bar area or restaurant depending on our mood, or how busy they are. No matter what we get fast, friendly service. The staff never fails to acknowledge repeat customers with friendly hellos even if they aren’t your server for the day. “Real, honest BBQ. I had the 2 meat combo with brisket, ribs, mac & cheese and potato salad. Best BBQ I have had since I was in Austin Texas! The owner was working hard with the rest of his employees and was the one to take my order. He seemed very nice and was helpful. I work within walking distance so I can see myself becoming a regular here. Canyons is an excellent addition to Castro Valley's food scene.“

“When we visit NorCal we always make as many stops here as possible. I think we’ve covered a lot of the breakfast/lunch options and we’ve been very pleased. The food is always fresh and tasty but some standouts are any of the omelettes and Benedict dishes. I love their blueberry power scone, but a family favorite is the zucchini bread which personally I find just a bit too sweet. The salads are fresh and filed with a wide variety of veggies. My recent tuna salad was so big that I took half of it home.
The service here is outstanding, all lovely smiles and attentiveness.“

“First visit, weeknight, not crowded. Food very good to excellent. Beet trio appetizer superb. Not clear if the 3 dipping sauces were for beets or brisket but good either way. Fiancee had wagyu burger, excellent. I had the combo plate…brisket a tad dry, fried chicken very good, corn bread muffin & cole slaw great. Extensive wine list, top labels. We shared a flight and each had a glass of bubbly. Portion size good … I had leftovers for breakfast. Server Jeff casual but on the ball with advice. Menu somewhat limited, especially for vegans.“

“I'm confused by the lack of recent reviews.. i went here the other night because they were open til 11:45pm which is awesome cus i clock out at 11.. went with a safe order, some zhangzhou rice n a couple chx skewers.. this place is the real deal whoevers reading this, you can safely ignore the old shitty reviews. I was blown away by the customer service to start, everything was explained in a way that was easily digestible(literally) and the Ball-Tip sandwich recommendation was right on point. “Excellent American plates, especially the tri-tip platter. Generous portions all around. Rarely does anyone in our family leave food on the plate. But here, we even took some half plates to go. They recommend medium rare on the tri-tip and that’s exactly the right taste. Love the bbq sauces on the table. And love the sides, especially the mixed veggies and sweet potatoes. “I only got 8 ban chan, that's still ok. Just the side dishes alone made coming here worth it. The Yuk gae Jang spicy beef soup was very delicious, I use it as a barometer to determine the level of the chef kind of like you can use plain fried rice to determine the level of a Chinese chef.

1/2026- The potato ban chan is my personal favorite, followed up by the bean sprouts and kim chee.

Bright atmosphere, hardly any of the customers here were speaking English. Strongly recommend this place.“

The banchan was tasty and flavorful, the beef brisket soup is great, the ddukbokgi has a good flavor, the bibimbap has high-quality ingredients, etc. The staff are working hard and more people should come here.
