“Popped in for lunch to check out the newly opened H&T and loved it. The brisket was delicious with a side of Vaquero beans that packed plenty of flavor as well. I could see the bar is well stocked with a great selection of spirits as well as a bunch of quality local beers on tap. Points as well for having a quality N/A offering. I received fast and very friendly service. Looking fwd to visiting again soon and wish this new business the best of luck as it was obvious that plenty of heart & soul is invested at heads & tails.“

“Great prices for good food and portion sizes! Tried the #3 bento combo plate and loved all the variety of meats. Will definitely be back for the fried fish and spam! The teriyaki chicken was cooked perfectly and was very tasty. The macaroni salad was just ok. Would recommend trying at least once!“

“Chicken katsu is Da Kind bra! I got their "Aloha BBQ combo" to go and she was nice enough to let me switch out the barbecue chicken for the katsu chicken and I'm so glad she did. So ono! And you get a Big heavy plate of food for your money!
Both the BBQ Beef and Kalbi short ribs tasted great but they were both a little bit fatty and just a little chewy, compared to when I used to get the same dishes at L&L (The standard of Hawaiian barbecue restaurants) back on Maui, where I lived for many years. I don't mind that because the flavor was delicious but maybe they just need to marinate them more or trim the fat off just a bit.
The most important thing I want everyone to know is that the katsu chicken was done to perfection! Perfectly cooked, still moist and with a delicious katsu sauce for dipping!
They also let me get a bit of extra rice instead of their two choices of steamed vegetables, that did not sound very appetizing. They really need to soak and steam all there vegetables in only ALOHA brand soy sauce if they want the correct Hawaiian flavored vegetables.
Their macaroni salad was ok / good but similar to what you might make it home.
I think they should go online and read about the secrets of Hawaiian style / L&L's macaroni salad.
"While the pasta is still hot, pour 2–3 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar over it.
Toss the macaroni and vinegar together so that the vinegar coats all the pasta and season the pasta by adding salt to the water while cooking it.
Rinse the very finely diced onions in cold water to remove bitterness.
Add 6-7 tablespoons of milk to moisten the pasta.
Toss the pasta with the dressing while it's still warm so it absorbs the flavors.
Let the macaroni salad rest in the fridge for a few hours."
Etc.,etc., there's lots of great Hawaiian style macaroni salad recipes online.
And if they don't want to bother cutting up the finely diced onions they could always use onion powder or some other seasoning powder because it's quick and easy.
Because although their macaroni salad wasn't bad it didn't have enough extra special flavor and needed something like onion powder, more salt or a bit of milk to make it their own secret recipe extra delicious / better than home made, so that their customers crave it as much as they crave the meat and it keeps them coming back.
I know I'll be coming back for their delicious chicken katsu and I do hope they add some more flavorings to their macaroni salad that makes it more Hawaiian style.
I gave their service the highest marks because she allowed me to do one substitution on my combo meal and was very friendly, professional and polite.
I deducted points for the atmosphere because it didn't really look that welcoming to take a seat and eat your meals there. I was getting it to go so it didn't matter to me but their interior could use some work make it more welcoming to sit down. Maybe they're just trying to get everyone to get it to go but that doesn't work for everybody.
Parking in that area is terrible and you either have to circle to you find a spot or park a far distance away. If they have some solution for that they should reply so other people don't have to illegally park to get a great Hawaiian style meal.
I also found out that they care about what their customers think and that's worth some extra stars any day of the week!“

“A little overpriced, but what isn't. The food is always good. Portions are hit or miss. I was full on my last visit, and I like that they have a low carb option. I've had the pork, beef, and chicken and it's all good. Need to try the seafood some time. Self serve water is always a nice touch.
Parking: Good luck finding parking.“

“My dad used to drink there in the 1980s and the Asian husband and wife couple who owned the bar bought him a last drink and told him never to come backThe bar was closed for about 10 or 20 years in the 1990s and the 2000sMy favorite part of the bar is spinning the wheel and trying my luck at free drinks cuz half the time it's a l**** deal but half the time it's a winner deal it's a nice bar most people are really coolFor a while they had a 8-bit Nintendo system and I'd play Castlevania and Super Mario Bros over and over again but they do have some arcade games and pinball games really nice“

“In a nutshell; great chinese food in the day, even greater at midnight.
Stopped by here to get some good food and something to warm the eve. As the nights were cool and breezy after a days activities. Parking can be a pain as you can only get lucky with street parking and can be tough when there's an event nearby or the aftermath of one. Nonetheless, place served great food even when you're the only customers during the late nights. Overall would stop by again if ever in Berkeley.“

“Glad this place opened up in Soma and stays open later than 9 pm. Great food, consistently good service. Food has always been great, everything from the skewers to the beef and fish pot, always good size portions and a fair price. They now have their liquor license with wine and beer on the menu. Beer is about $5 which is very fare compared to other places in the area. My only request is a happy hour.“

“My husband and I were coming home from a Cal game and got stuck in traffic...as we were making our way back to the freeway he told me we should be going to more local restaurants in Oakland...then boom we stumbled on Rodricks! From the moment we hit the door everything was awesome! Friendly people, great music, clean dining room and the aroma from the kitchen had my mouth watering. We got home and dug in...all I can say is I wish we had gotten more! We will be back and soon!“

“Coleslaw is slamming. Sweet tea is delicious and flavorful. Dino rib juicy and tender. Barbecue sauce not too sweet. Perfectly tangy. Potato salad good, cools off your tongue from the hot sausage.

Staff super helpful.

“We shared the platter of 4 types of meats for 3 ppl, nachos, brisket sandwich, and sides.
Overall food is good - but it was the worst chicken we’ve ever had - just so dry and bland it was inedible.
Other meats were good - brisket, pulled pork and ribs (although also on the dry side, not the fall off the bone kind)
Sides and nachos were good
Liked the service and vibe - would come back to hang out with friends just won’t order the platter to avoid the chicken“

“Absolutely love Tommy’s bbq company. I've had Flints in Oakland, K.C's in Berkeley, and Evert and Jones, Tommy’s is now my favorite BBQ spot hands down. it's REAL bbq! Prices are right on par with other real BBQ places. Places like Kinders and Dickies, and even Lucille's just don't match up. My family and I are extremely happy that Tommy’s opened up in Hercules. Please keep the good food coming! Be cool“

“Visited San Francisco with my family and we ate one of the kbbq combos and we were stuffed! The meat was well marinated and delicious. The price is reasonable as well. The service was absolutely top tier and they were very friendly. They checked in often and cooked the meat for us.“
“Food here is so good and a decent price for plates (I think it was $15 for a 1 meat plate and $20 for 2 meats ). Parked right outside Planet Fitness so a perfect post gym meal. The ribs are very juicy and the BBQ sauce he makes is delicious! The baked beans always hit along with the potato salad. Only complaint is that the bread sometimes gets soggy from the items in the box but that can easily be fixed. Definitely one of my favorite quick BBQ spots and I highly recommend giving him a try!“

“I recently had the Lau Lau…it was delicious. I need another one. I’ve been coming here for about six months now. I was a bit apprehensive due to the few complaints, so when I initially went I went in person. It’s a grease spoon hole in the wall and I love it. The Chinese food is good too. Always tastes fresh. Ordered my girls fries from here too. I almost ate them all, like y’all gotta share lol. Anyways, I gave a 5 stars. That’s rare for me. Staff is serious and nice. I appreciate their mood…no bs and good food. Keep up the good work Frannies. Thank you!!“

“Really solidly good Hawaiian food. I had family visiting from France who wanted to try Hawaiian food and they loved it! Especially high praise coming from Parisians used to amazing restaurants. It's a small place and nothing fancy but the food is really, really good. If you haven't been, you should definitely try it!“
“I’m a vegetarian, so I can’t speak about the Q (the men in my house cried when the last wing was grabbed), but this banana pudding is so off the hook I want to cry!! So rich and creamy! I’ve eaten 1/2 of the very generous serving and I’m stuffed. I’m gunna power through it though, because I know if I save it, one of these boys will eat it!“
“Best BBQ I've ever eaten! Moist, great smoke AND nice people!“

“Hear me out. I don’t live too far from this restaurant, and have gotten boba from there a few times (10/10 btw) But last night I was feeling a little wild and ordered some food with my normal drink. Before I even got the chance to get it home (I’m talking half a block from the restaurant) I stab my boba straw through the entire cup. It’s spilling everywhere. The owner sees me and calls me back inside to make me a new one for free! He was so kind. To top it all off, when I finally got home, the chicken wings and fried rice were AMAZING! It’s my new Go To Spot!“

“Good food, great place for duck, Asian BBQ pork and BBQ ribs etc. Large amount of menu items. Their egg Foo young is amazing. Picture is their wonton and egg noodles with Peking duck pretty good. 11.00+ unfortunately, they haven’t allowed dine in since the start of the Covid pandemic. Prices have also raised $3.00 plus per item since then .“

“This is the definition of a hole-in-the-wall place. The decor is bare bones, the place is old, but what they lack in atmosphere, they more than make up for in deliciousness.
I've been here a couple times and the food is consistently good. Always made fresh and pretty quick.
The food is fantastic and affordable. Not sure what else you'd want.“

“Ordered just the Kaokao Chicken
* Crispy skin
* Perfect level of heat
* Good portions (very filling but not excessive)
* Lovely flavors (very warm—Chana Masala + Chinese 5-spice kind of vibe)
Only recommendation to the restaurant is to get AC for the upstairs and maybe put another water jug up there—it was pretty warm.“
