I'm from the East Coast (NY) and recently my Brother in-law and I visited a few cities in the state of California. First, we spent a few days visiting family in Los Angeles and Santa Ana. At the last minute of booking the trip, my Brother in-law decided he wanted to visit an old college buddy named Roderick (Roddy) in Oakland.He mentioned that Roddy had a BBQ restaurant named Roderick's BBQ. OMG! I'm vegetarian ? but my daughter and I stumbled upon this awesome barbecue place on the way to the Oakland Zoo, and on the way home, we stopped there because she was hungry. She got a chicken sandwich, and she doesn't usually finish her food (she's 6), but she did when we got home, which never happens! Roderick’s really nailed it! I had the sampler plate and it was delicious. Ribs, tri-tip, chicken and hot links were all superb. The collard greens were the best I’ve ever had. Beans were delicious as well. A group of us ate inside and it was like a party. Rod and his son were very cordial and welcomed everyone with open arms. A classy barbecue joint all the way. Can’t wait to get back! A+
