Pig in a Pickle BBQ Reviews
Outdoor seating, yummy food, loved the collards.
Short Version:
I stopped for lunch with some friends and family and wound up getting publicly humiliated and cursed out by the owner while holding my toddler in my arms.
Long Version:
We came in for a late lunch and my toddler really wanted French fries. There aren’t any fries on the menu, so I bought a small fry at a restaurant next door for my daughter to eat.

Pig in a Pickle BBQ offers a diverse menu that includes a variety of barbecue dishes, with the brisket being a standout. Many reviewers highlight the brisket's excellent flavor and quality, noting it as some of the best in the Bay Area. Customers appreciate the option to choose between fatty and lean brisket, both of which are well-prepared. The ribs receive mixed reviews; while some find them perfectly cooked, others mention that they can be mealy and lack robust flavor, especially when reheated.
The sides, however, tend to draw more criticism. The potato salad and coleslaw are often described as forgettable, with some diners expressing disappointment in their lack of flavor. The mac and cheese, while cheesy, is also noted to be lacking in taste. The sausage link is praised for its seasoning and cooking, and the greens receive positive remarks.
Overall, the restaurant is seen as budget-friendly with a friendly atmosphere. While some diners suggest tempering expectations regarding certain sides and the sweetness of the sauces, most agree that the quality of the meat, particularly the brisket, makes Pig in a Pickle BBQ worth a visit for barbecue enthusiasts in the East Bay.
