I've been here a couple dozen times, and I've never had a disappointing experience. I want to taste the meat and not the sauce, so this place is perfect. The meat is always tasty and tender, and for those who want barbecue sauce they have a couple of choices that you can add on in the quantities that please you. I'm also a big fan of the housemade links. I always request that they do not cut it, so it keeps all the juice in if I decide to save some for later. The collard greens are a bit too vinegary for me and I do wish the macaroni and cheese was a little bit more traditional, but everything else is so good I can overlook that. Pig in a Pickle has spoiled me for any other ribs.

I already loved the ribs, tried the brisket today. ?Taste as good as it looks and their links are on point as well. One of my favorite spots, check them out.

Delightful flavors danced on our taste buds, exceeding our expectations with every bite. The hot links proved to be a symphony of tastiness, and thanks to the insightful recommendations from the cheerful staff, the mustard sauce added the perfect zing to the experience. The beef brisket, a true star on the menu, was a mouthwatering delight. Tender, succulent meat paired seamlessly with the mild sauce, creating a harmonious blend of flavors. The cornbread, subtly sweet, provided the ideal accompaniment, enhancing the overall culinary journey. The potato salad, a flavorful addition, was undeniably a big plus, leaving us savoring every moment. Not only did the food shine, but the gentlemen taking orders and crafting our culinary masterpiece were beacons of niceness and helpfulness. Their stellar customer service elevated the entire dining experience, making it one of the best I've had in a while. A heartfelt thank you for a meal that not only filled our stomachs but also warmed our hearts. Cheers to exceptional flavors and top-notch service!

Pig in a Pickle is located inside Public Market, which makes it super convenient to grab some great bbq whenever a craving hits. My favorites are the brisket and hot links with the spicy bbq sauce. The brisket is super tender with a nice smoke ring and bark. I preordered a few pounds of meat for a party recently and got more fatty pieces than I would have liked. If you order at the counter, they usually let you request if you want leaner meat which is my preference. The prices for meat seem to be on par with other places in the East Bay...so a bit expensive, but a yummy treat every once in a while!

I only know the sides from this place. And I keep coming back for them. The potato salad is freaking amazing, it's mustardy and full of glory. The Mac and cheese is so good I haven't gotten a chance to take a picture of it because I always eat it too quickly. The service is great, quite friendly and i got a bonus extra pickle today!

Had a little taste of the brisket and the burnt ends, and both were amazing. High quality meat and wonderful flavor. I need to come back here and get a full meal. I would have had a meal here, but I had already eaten 30 mins ago. I'll update this review after I return.Later after leaving, I recognized this as the place where episodes of All the Smoke are filmed. It would be awesome to come back for one of those.

I was born and raised in the south so i feel qualified to review bbq. I was blown away by the quality of the bbq and fixins (sides). The slaw and banana pudding are the best ive ever had. I have not had grade A bbq on the west coast since moving out here until today. The sauces, meat, and sides are all on point.

Brisket was solid. Smokey with a nice marbled rim of fat. Good sauce. Great Mac. Best bbq I have had in the Berkeley area.

I'm originally from Austin and have been on the hunt for Texas style BQQ north of the bay. This brisket is the closest I've found so far! The BBQ sauce is also pretty close but missing texas sweetness. 5/5 meal. 4/5 Texas taste! The staff is allergen trained and told me most everything is celiac safe/gluten free or can be altered to accommodate. They are confident many of their meats, sides, and sauces are celiac safe.UNSAFE items: cornbread, macaroni, chili, white sauce on chicken (can be removed), rolls and sanwhich breads.Always ask the servers what is safe and unsafe ahead of ordering on the app as the menu does not have GF called out per item. There is a place in the app to request special instructions for allergen prep.Dietary restrictions: Talk to the servers for celiac/gluten free options!

Holy smack, this place hits so hard.Food - if could give it more than five stars the brisket alone makes this a 10. Every time I come here I get a pound of brisket and the smoky flavor and juiciness hits harder than any other barbecue place I've been to in Bay Area. Service - the staff are always very friendly and happy to help when I've went. Ambiance - it is in a food court sort of thing but it's not janky like a mall food court. It's much more, for lack of a better word, " fancier" than that. Overall if you come here you HAVE to get a beef brisket, you'll not regret it

Public Market has come a long way. Could smell the BBQ before I entered the building and I was hella hungry.Looked around with my buddy and we settled on the BBQ and it did not disappoint. I’m a Texan and I’ll say that the brisket was pretty good. But the ribs were perfect. And the cornbread was hella big, fluffy, and tasty.Def worth the money, I’ll be returning.

Meat was okay , very tender , but not very flavorful & no woody smoke flavor. Just know this not no good ol southern bbq , this is a white bbq spot fr . You will not get no southern food , southern hospitality nothing. wouldn’t go again also bc of the bad service. Mexican looking guy with black nail polish was so rude to the women guests.Death stares , rolling eyes , not offering everyone the option of trying any sauces. I literally saw women leaving bc of how he was looking at them smh.

Hotlink was amazing! Well worth the $10. Loved the spice and smokiness. Fatty parts of the fatty brisket were pretty good. Sauces paired well with the BBQ and other foods nearby. Will try some pigs and pickles next time.
