“The BEST soul food ive had since moving to The Bay Area. EVERY other place ive tried has been horrible, for real. So, when Kecia asked when i was coming i was very skeptical.
They absolutely crushed it! We had smothered porkchops, greens, and mac n cheese and Fish n Grits. Very well seasoned, greens were cooked like back home (Texas), mac n cheese was hot and cheesy, good cornbread, creamy and savory grits.

Oh and the drinks! Great selection!

Please understand when they name a drink BeastMode, there's meaning! ?”

“We had the chicken biriyani and litti chokha. Its really good. They are very close to the authentic taste. The chicken biriyani here is lucknow style which is a bit rare to find in the east bay. Irrespective of that detail, the biriyani is really amazing.
Portions and service, really good.

p.s: if you get a patio seat on a sunny day, you get a nice view of the bay and the Golden Gate bridge.”

“I finally got to try the dishes here and I am not disappointed.
I got the soup and it was just right amount of jalapeños for the spice. I lobe the simplistic it had, but it was still tasty ?
I also tried the island poke dish and it was very delicious as well.
I like how you have options for the rice or a salad base, or both.
Very flavorful and right amount of sauces.
I am looking forward to trying more dishes as time goes by.”

~$30 a set sounds high at first but I can easily have it over 2-3 meals, which is awesome.

Flavor is also consistent - Always love how the potato salad, cabbage slaw, sauces and katsu come together! Miso soup is a great addition too given East Bay is quite often a bit cold.”

MUMU HOT POT 5699 Bay St, Emeryville Hot Pot • $$

“a little expensive for hot pot- but the nice new restaurant feel and the quality of food makes up for it. The meat lover combo for $65 was plenty for two people. Service would really only show up when you placed a new order, and it was a little weird not to receive spoons or bowls (there is a separate self-serve counter for this and sauces) but besides that they were fine. Only rank atmosphere low due to a large amount of families with loud kids wandering the restaurant... cest la vie.”

“I recently discovered how much I love Empanadas within the last few years, so I was really stoked when they opened this location. They used to partner with another bakery next-door to the Y in downtown Oakland, so it was really nice to see this spot close by. The chicken empanadas are always my go to, but the Fugazzeta (cheese and onion ) has grown to be my favorite item on the menu! the staff are very friendly and help you figure out what’s for you if you’ve never been or are undecided on what to get. ( and if you have a sweet tooth, they tend to have Alfajores & sweet Empanadas sale as well! )Only downside is that there isn’t much indoor seating which could be a problem if it’s colder out, but this is minor in my opinion. Definitely worth trying if you want some good authentic Argentinian food.

Vegetarian options: they offer great options for both meat, lovers and vegetarians!”

Cassave 5412 San Pablo Ave Ste D, Emeryville Mexican • $

“I recently dined at Cassave Restaurant, a charming hole-in-the-wall Mexican eatery in Emeryville. Despite its small size, it seems to be a popular spot for take-out comfort food.

I tried the fish tacos and pupusas. The fish tacos were excellent, with fresh fish and ingredients that really stood out. The pupusas were authentically made, though I would have preferred a bit more stuffing. The zucchini pupusa was particularly flavorful compared to the plain cheese ones.

The service was quick, and the owners were extremely friendly, adding to the overall positive experience. The only downside was the lack of spicier sauces, which I didn’t ask for but would have preferred.

Overall, I would definitely visit again if I’m in the area.”

Came for a friend's birthday and got sad seating with a view for all of us.
Prices are fair. Got lots of shrimp dumplings, duck, a few veggies dishes and black sesame balls.

“We had dinner there tonight (3/14/24) for the first time and we will be back. Two of the most interesting and truly delicious sandwiches we have ever eaten. I can't remember what mine was called, but it had chicken (roasted perfectly), sauerkraut, cheese and other awesome stuff on a grilled rye bread that was excellent. My bride had the turkey sandwich and loved it. But the star of the show were the Tater Tots. Perfectly crisp with BBQ sauce to dip them in and then into some wonderful real bacon bits. Every tot stayed crisp from the first to the last. The meal was worth every penny and more. Get into the Alameda location and try it. You won't be sorry. “Chinatown can be a daunting place to dine in San Francisco due to its vast authentic cuisine which is unlike anything outside of China itself. I don’t speak or read any of the dialect, but somehow managed to order food and drink that was delicious. I’m pretty sure that we created much amusement for the other diners who were rather interested in the ‘foreigners’ selections. Peet's Coffee 5959 Shellmound St Ste 85, Emeryville Coffee Shops • $

“The pedant behind the counter took it upon himself to tell me that I was not allowed to park in the designated bike parking because he was forced to put a table in front of the bike rack placed there specifically for the purpose of locking up bikes. He proceeded to tell me that we had to move our bikes so we went out and moved our bikes to another bike rack nearby. In the process of moving our bikes, he continued to harangue me and my husband as we complied with his request. I did my best to ignore him and turn my back on him but he just continued harassing me. It was a very unfortunate experience, but certainly should not deter you from visiting this Pete's coffee. The rest of the staff is quite wonderful and the food is good and the coffee is terrific.

Wheelchair accessibility: Easy to navigate inside the shop, it's very large and can accommodate wheeled conveyances however it does not have a door that opens automatically. So you have to wait for somebody to come and help you. And in order to use the corridor to get into the attached mall area, you'll again have to wait for someone to open the door because there's no automatic door there either”

“I am a religious advocate of the Valencia location, so my first visit to this one was held with high expectations. I learned that each location is different and prices differently. I typically love the city sourdough rounds, but at the time I went, they only had longer, narrower loaves that were a dollar more. I also got a cheese roll. The bread was good and the cheese roll was acceptable. I generally like to get chai and a slice, but neither of these options seemed appetizing at the time. I went later in the day and the lack of foot traffic didn't indicate that the pizza was very fresh. The staff was helpful, but it wasn't as welcoming of an experience as I get at my main location. My brief transaction got me what I needed with no frills. It's certainly not a place I would lounge and enjoy a quick bite at. However, the product was satisfactory. Hard to beat that Valencia energy!”

“Damn, the best of the best tbh. Tops in n out, habit, five guys, even easy street out in LA. So much flavor I got a double with an egg added and my goodness the meat is smashed and super juicy. I got garlic fries on the side and it was a heavenly meal. I will definitely be back, this was my first time.”

“Went here for the first time a few weeks ago and thought it was pretty cool. Lots of pool tables and open space with plenty of seating. The drinks were OK, but the food was really good. I didn’t go prior to the remodeling, so I can’t really compare how it was then to how it is now. I still would suggest this spot if you want a fun place to hang out on a Friday night!”

“Get dim sum location with a view!
Came for a friend's birthday and got sad seating with a view for all of us.
Prices are fair. Got lots of shrimp dumplings, duck, a few veggies dishes and black sesame balls.
Food comes out fast, and servers are quick but not super attentive.
Besides hot sauce and soy sauce I do wish there was other condiments, but didn't stop us from chowing down.”

“Saw the comment about a mouse and believe me theh went inspected we got 94 out of 100. some of my coworkers may be rude even i myself when a bad custumer just passed honestly try to hige the best service i can with whag i have inside which alot of times we are missing tons of things and its not our fault. Seen genuine similes of costumers. if you bring a pet trough the drive trough you have more preference for a better service since it makes me happy seeing the pets.”

“Went to just grab a quick bite to eat, Chicfila is EXTREMELY meticulous about whom they hire and the process they go through, so service is always 5 Stars no matter what BUT the pricing is getting out of control. $6+ for a Chicfila DELUXE, JUST THE SANDWICH? Aside from that, no notes. Fast service, food is quality, amazing customer service.”

“Exhausted from our family hike, we turned to Google for sustenance. This charming restaurant welcomed us warmly, quickly seating us and thoughtfully switching the channel to a children's program.
Our server was kind and attentive. The food arrived promptly, and my wife was particularly pleased with her gluten-free bánh mì sandwich. Our children, with gusto, consumed their chicken tenders, wings, and fries. We'll be back.”
