“Mashaallah started out as a food truck but now has a stall in the food court of Westfield San Francisco. Despite its humble appearance, this small business offered some of the best Pakistani food I've had in the city from its steam table of freshly-prepared meat and vegetable curries. A star dish here (which came recommended by Soleil Ho) was the Lamb Korma, made of super tender, lean, meaty chunks of lamb in a spiced curry. On my combination plate, I also got the Chana Masala (chickpea curry) and the Palak Paneer (cheese cubes in a velvety puréed spinach sauce), served along with rice. Every item was delicately spiced and flavorful without being too salty, and the garnishes of raw onion and cilantro brought out the freshness of the dishes. On the side, I also had an order of Garlic Naan (another star item), which was perfectly soft and chewy and had a wonderful flavor and aroma from the garlic and herbs. Overall, the food here was absolutely delicious, and the owners were so friendly and hospitable too!“
“Wonderful experience on all levels. It was my best experience for Himalayan Indian food. The food was ultra flavorful.staff are very nice and kindly.we got Himalayan Thali set,Chicken mo:mo,garlic naan, chicken tikka masala and salmon tandoori. We will most be coming back.Highly recommend.“
“Having iftar here in Ramadan was an amazing experience! The place is decorated for Ramadan, there is a beautiful, clean prayer area with lots of head scarves available for women to pray. They had a specialPlaylist for ramadan too. The service was excellent. Loved the tea. The food was good too. Thank you for this wonderful experience in Ramadan!“
“Favorite Indian cuisine spot in the bay area, tbh. The medium is actually spicy, like 1/5 of an Indian chili pepper and the max heat is the spice of an entire Indian chili pepper. That jawn was fire, would do it again, 10/10.The goat curry was really well done, however, some pieces had an absurd amount of bones so it's hard. The shrimp curry was amazing. I'd 100% recommend it. Get it medium and you'll be wigging out, most of you, anyways. The Momo's are alright. I wouldn't get them again, at least the vegetarian ones. The sauce also isn't anything crazy to go with it. It's overall pretty mid.“
“My partner and I are becoming regulars here because the food is delicious every time we come. We’ve had the baingan bhartha (my new favorite), palak daal, aloo mattar, biryani, and palak paneer. The food consistently tastes so fresh and flavorful. Plus, the atmosphere is warm and we always feel welcomed.“
“This is an excellent find in a city with nowhere near enough good south indian places, especially post pandemic! We tried several things and they were all great: very good ingredients, deep flavours, very good portion sizes! Can't wait to go back, only sad that I've missed 10mos of it's being in existence :)“
“The atmosphere was pleasant, although we had to wait a bit longer than expected for our food. However, the delicious masala fries made up for the wait. Additionally, the garlic naan was simply incredible and a must-try. We highly recommend the butter chicken and chicken soup, but be warned that the food is quite spicy.“
“100% Halal meats! This place is delicious, my husband and I got takeout and we ordered the Punjabi masala bhindi (mild) Malai Kofta (mild) Chicken curry (medium) Chilli chicken (mild) Tandoori roti and plain rice The mild is perfect but the medium could be a tad more spicy. Looking forward to trying some more, especially the Indo Chinese.“
“I came to Tilak after a long hiatus and am so glad I did! The food was excellent and the service was very good. The reason for the 4 stars (instead of 5) is that I almost slipped and fell on the wet floor on my way to the restroom. My friend and I shared the following:1) Goan prawn curry - delicious 2) Chicken Chettinad - very flavorful 3) Channa saag - tasty The brown rice and Naan we got to accompany our entrees were good, too, as was the wine. Our waitress was attentive and took great care of us.The wet floor at the end of the evening was the only weak link - they should not have started mopping their floors before our departure. Overall, I'm so glad to have rediscovered Tilak and look forward to returning!“
“This is one of my favorite Indian and Pakistani restaurants in the bay. My absolute favorite dish is the chicken achar accompanied with a side of rice, saag paneer and garlic naan bread. The spiciness of the chicken achar has the perfect kick I need in my food. Also, the chai tea is worth trying here. You add the amount of sugar you want to the chai so the sweetness is perfect for you everytime!“
“We are so lucky to have Saffron in Lamorinda. The food is delicious, flavorful, clean ingredients and authentic. Everything is made with so much love. This is the spot to get your dose of Indian food or catering for parties. Full of comminity!!!!! I went to a rad Diwali party at Saffron and left high on life.“
“Two men had one naan and one rice and two curries. The price was reasonable and it was delicious! The chicken curry had a very Korean taste and the lamb had a very strange taste. If you want a more familiar taste, try chicken.I arrived at 9:50 PM and it was nice to be told that I could eat here and leave.Since it's self-service, it's nice to be able to add a tip as well.A place worth stopping by if you are nearby!!“
“Excellent food! Gracious proprietors and very brave for starting up this little restaurant as a new concern only in the last couple of months. The Indian food places I liked in my neighborhood for the last 30 years have all closed and I was looking something new. I ordered six items and each one of them was spectacular. These hard-working people KNOW how to present Indian food at its best. The Aloo Gobi was a flavorful surprise--the potatoes were so delicate---- and the Lamb Curry perfect. The Garlic Naan, I can predict my big Hawaiian husband and I will fight over. I'll just have to order more. Try the Rogan Josh--you will be so pleased.....and the Palak Paneer, my favorite! I think I could just lose all control and order ten of them. So much to admire when a new eatery concern takes on the restaurant world of San Francisco and be a success. Many locals and Federal Building employees were coming and going and the staff knew who they were and were so friendly.. You can eat in-house at the little spotlessly-clean tables or take something home as I did. I will return and because a regular because of the gracious and sweet greeting and service I received and the beyond-excellent food. THANK YOU!!!“
“I deeply appreciate the owners dedication to creating a wonderful experience for their customers. Last time we went to Everest Kitchen, we had a hiccup with our Togo order. After learning about this, the owners and staff were quick to resolve the issue! We're glad we got to give them another go because it was well worth it! My husband and I had the veggie korma, lamb curry, garlic naan, mango lassi, and samosas. The entrees were flavorful, and paired nicely with the garlic naan (of course!). The samosas are MUST try. Wow. They were phenomenal!! I love samosas already, but I find that some places tend to over bread them. These were perfect. These had a nice outer shell that wasn't too thick, so you really get to enjoy the flavors. I could have eaten the whole order to myself, they were that good! The sauces that accompany the samosas are also very tasty. 10/10. Lastly, the Mango Lassi was a great treat. It was the right level of sweetness for my husband and I. Overall, after our experience and interactions with the staff/owners, we will definitely be back and thinks it's worth giving a try for those looking for quality food/service.“
“This has become one of our top food delivery spots. Their palak paneer (the spinach with cheese) is so delicious, me and my boyfriend have now agreed to order two each time since we inhale one too quickly. We also love the Nepalese dumplings.“
“Nothing too fancy. But great food. Tandoori salmon was great! Tandoori chicken was a bit dry. Though they used chicken breast which is usually dry. Dipping the chicken in the tasty Tikka sauce helped. Excellent Naan! Mango lassi was thick and tasty. Lamb tandoori was overcooked. Would come back to try more dishes, now knowing which to avoid.“
“If I could give more stars I would. This place is fabulous. The service by Sonia is AMAZING. Not only is she so sweet but pays attention to every detail. The restaurant is larger, clean, chill vibe that makes you feel comfortable and safe to enjoy your delicious food. And speaking of the food... you can taste the difference! Fresh and flavorful. The Naan is both crispy and soft... how can that be?! They have ruined me from all the other restaurants. They will be the only Indian/Pakistani place I will eat from. I can't recommend them enough!Vegetarian options: They can make so many things veggie. But we luv the potatoes and cheese TikkaDietary restrictions: My group had a picky vegetarian...someone who was vegan and a gluten-free....all loved thier foodWheelchair accessibility: No steps to worry about and wide doors. lots of space to fit a wheelchair at a table.“
“Despite being takeout, the chicken momos were fresh, piping hot, and packed with delicious flavor. Each bite was a delightful blend of tender chicken and aromatic spices, showcasing the restaurant's commitment to quality. The packaging was secure, ensuring the momos arrived in perfect condition. If you're craving authentic and mouthwatering chicken momos to enjoy at home, look no further than this restaurant.“
“The Coconut Curry here is out of this world. The drinks are A+ with unbelievably great prices. The vibe inside; the colors, the music, the art, are all so inviting and warm. The menu has options for everyone ( stellar vegan options) and our server couldn’t have been better. Best Indian Food in the Bay“
“As an Indian who is often skeptical of the restaurants around the Bay, I was quite impressed by this.Good value for money, overall good flavor (not too whitewashed lol), great service, nice ambiance.Wish the best to this restaurant and hope they include more South Indian dishes in the future!“
“Low-key best Nepalese restaurant in the East Bay. Excellent meat and veg entrees, very reasonable prices, even in 2023. They have a great thali dinner selection, when thalis (or any combo really) are becoming an endangered species around here.“
“After noticing Guru take over an old Chinese food spot, have been trying to have a meal for a couple of months now but we keep trying to eat dinner at 430pm . Finally made it in and I think it's my new fave Indian spot in the area (sorry Cafe Raj). Friendly service, clean dining room. Quick service! The best chicken I've had in a curry in that it wasn't dry and over cooked; same with the prawns- perfectly cooked! We had aloo palak, chicken coconut curry, prawns tikka masala, veggie biryani, onion naan and chicken momos- after tax = $83! Great value!“
“The food was really delicious and I really appreciated the fact that it was open later than 930 which is when everything it feels like in the bay closes by…. The service was great and it didn’t take too long to prepare the food. They also had large serving sizes so my boyfriend and I could eat family style. I’m very glad I got to try this place and would definitely recommend.“
“Raj is great. I have eaten here over 10 times since I have discovered this place last November. Literally, equivalent to home cooked food. He can modify most dishes to your preference (Vegan, in my case). The highlights are the naan (homemade, none of that pre-made microwaved/baked stuff), the aloo gobi, chana masala, veggie samosas w/tamarind sauce & veggie biryani. I could probably write a paragraph for each of those dishes, but I will let your imagination fill in the gaps... Having said that, there are some challenges. 1. One man operation- so there may sometimes be delays with pick-ups. 2. It is in the hood, hood. If you aren't from around here, please pay attention. 3. Take out only If you can overcome those challenges, then you can have the opportunity to eat some of the best Indian food I have ever tasted, Northern or Southern. (This is Northern btw) I am conflicted because it is a great food, close proximity and priced at a high value. However, if Raj were to move I would totally understand and he would probably be more successful for it. I would still go patronize him too.“
“The food is fun and delicious! Tikka Masala on pizza is new to me and now I want to continue to seek it out. The Momos were also very tasty. My salad was very fresh as well. Neighborhood pocket feel for dine-in.Vegetarian options: At least half their items were vegetarian.“
“I ordered the Chicken Thali with chicken tikka masala and it was the most delicious rich gravy I've ever eaten. the service is good and the people are friendly.i came back to try the chicken tikka masala pizza and it was great. it was a huge slice for 5 bucks n the flavors were bomb.“
“Definitely the best Indian food in all of the Bay. It's mostly a to go place, but there is some seating including a nice outside patio area. If you come on a Saturday, it's next to all the galleries so view art and eat well. It shares the location with a wonderful Jamaican chef. Try the stuff naan, best daal takika imaginable (made fresh to order) and the Rogan lamb. This will become your favorite Indian restaurant.“
“Good food from friendly people. The room is not bad, but not ' special date' nice. The heater near the door helped make us cozy. You can see by my photo how good the food was;-)Vegetarian options: Typical vegetarian Indian food dishes, but the Johi Momo was new to me, and yummy!Parking: BevMo parking lot, I think, is shared with Aangan. At least part of it anyway. Usually nearby street parking too“
“Wanted to pick up some kasoori methi (dried fenugreek leaves) for a recipe, which brought me in. Staff is friendly and helpful. I bought a couple (mix veg) Samosa on a whim for a snack when I got home and these are the BEST samosa I’ve ever eaten in my life. I really want to come back for lunch/dinner at some point, absolutely delicious food.“
“Charming little spot with cheerful decor and welcoming staff. Probably best suited to small groups as it's quite cozy. Went for my birthday with family, including elderly-ish mom who enjoyed the food and was treated very kindly by the staff.“
“We enjoyed a birthday dinner here before a basketball game and absolutely loved the atmosphere. It is lively, yet cozy, with an open kitchen, which looks filled with wonderful chefs doing their magic. Still, despite the creative yummy plates, prices ate both justified. And we all absolute despised the black sheep meatballs (vegan) as it tasted gamey, strong, salty and was churning in our stomachs for hours on. Stay away from it and you’ll be in good hands here.PS: that was the beat cheese naan ever!!“
“Everything was euphorically delicious. An explosion of aromas, spices, and flavors. We asked for extra spicy for the Lamb Vindaloo. They were not messing around. Once you take a bite, you are able to taste all the fragrant spices and wonderful flavors and then the spiciness creeps up and kicks you with that burn, but you can't stop eating. Instead of just one server, we had two very attentive and friendly servers. They were very efficient as well. Our order was taken quickly. The drinks arrived quickly. Our waters were always full throughout the evening. All the dishes came in a timely manner. Beautiful decorations with great artwork, cozy vibe loved it.I definitely recommend Yarsa Nepalese Cuisine and plan to bring all my friends here when we crave Indian Nepalese food.“
“In a city where you can always find a good Indian restaurant it's really amazing found yourself surprised by this hidden gem that brings you a taste of authentic and pure Indian dishes and the complexity of the ingredients that mixed together so well. Each bite reveals a harmonious blend of flavors, a testament to the culinary skill and care put into their preparation. What's equally impressive is the ambiance of the place; even when packed, it maintains a serene and welcoming atmosphere that invites you to relax and enjoy your meal. The staff deserves special mention for their kindness and attentiveness. Their proactive approach ensures that you're always well taken care of, eliminating the need to ask for anything. This establishment not only serves exquisite food but also provides a remarkable dining experience that makes you feel genuinely valued.“
“Got the veg steamed momos to go and this was my first time trying momos and I absolutely loved it. Service was super quick (less than 5 minutes). I am super excited to go back and try some of the other momos here (fried momos and the cheese momos). Good number of momos for the price as well and the sauce on the side was great. Definitely a hole in the wall worth trying!“
“Honestly, all things considered this is probably the best indian food you will find nearby UC Berkeley, at least at an affordable price. For $16 they have an all you can eat lunch buffet with solid quality. The service was also great and everyone there was extremely nice. Worth checking out if you're craving some indian food and can't make the trip to SF or South Bay.“
“A couple of the bands I'm in played here (Sakful and Chino's burning). The Pa system is awesome. The engineer (Paul Shortridge) is very knowledgeable and has the house tone dialed in for any band expressing their style on stage.I was so impressed by the place I started going to the open mic nights on Mondays. And to top it off, the food is freaking awesome! This place is a must if you like good original music, great good and a super friendly atmosphere.“
“Lovely combo of an Irish pub and an Indian restaurant so that's something for everyone right? A fresh samosa with beer is the way to start but everything we've tried on several trips has been excellent: fresh, great portions and prices. They're somewhat understaffed so sometimes there's a bit of a wait for the food but they're uniformly welcoming and courteous. Highly recommended.Vegetarian options: It's an Indian restaurant grafted onto a pub so between the indian food and the bar snacks there are a lot of veg optionsDietary restrictions: Vegan/vegetarian options present on the tablet ordering app.“
“One of the best places to organize a small get together/party/or any function. The whole team is great. Kanab is very nice and they will custom your orders and needs. Pricing is also fair. However, get all your pricing for all services in one lump sum instead of different pricing for different services. Overall, very nice people, good food, good service. I highly recommend. I would use them again. Good Job paradise team.?“
“An impressive array of vegan options (3.5/5 Green Stars)Tigerlily opened in 2015 with Chef Joel Lamica (former chef of the Ramen Shop in Rockridge) running the kitchen, but has new management since 2019. I’ve been twice – once in the good old pre-lockdown days, before the management changed, and then a couple of months ago. And I have to say, I really enjoyed the food both times. Congrats to the new management for maintaining standards. They could do a better job at providing more info on their website, though. The original team favored organic ingredients but that’s not clear anymore. They do serve a lot of vegan dishes, so thumbs up for that.We had two of my standard Indian dishes – veggie samosas and veggie korma. Tigerlily’s versions of these two were possibly the best (samosa) or among the best (korma) that I’ve ever had. This is significant, given that I’ve had many samosas and kormas in my time. The veggie korma ($21.50) includes rice and garlic naan and has a good balance of spice, heat, creaminess, and tasty veggies. The veggie samosas (delicious pastry, not greasy, very filling) are normally $10 but note that both korma and samosas are on the happy hour menu, so avail of that if you can (4:30 to 5:30 every day). We also had the Sesame Avocado Flatbread ($13.50), made with fennel seed, turmeric, sprouts, parmesan & chili oil. Staff members were very friendly and I highly recommend trying it out during happy hour while it’s not too busy.I’m giving Tigerlily 3.5 out of 5 Green Stars for social and environmental impact, for these reasons:• Even though there are several meat dishes, I was impressed by how much of the menu is not just vegetarian but vegan. Adopting a plant-based diet is the top thing you can do to mitigate climate change and deforestation, besides avoiding animal cruelty and the negative impact of the meat industry on society.• Of course, your own footprint will depend on what you order, from vegan dishes at one end of the scale and lamb dishes at the other end. Like beef, lamb has one of the highest carbon footprints of our food options.• If Tigerlily wanted to step up and improve on its social and environmental impact then switching from lamb to a vegan substitute would be the most effective steps.• More information on food sourcing should be provided.• Local beer is available on draft, mitigating packaging and transportation impacts.“
“It was raining and I was craving samosa & chai so we got samosas as an appetizer, they were freshly made and crisp on the outside & the filling was hot and spicy inside. For our mains we got butter chicken with rice and garlic naan, it was delicious. The color of the butter chicken was so red I thought it would be crazy spicy but I guess that’s just the food coloring because it wasn’t. Topped dinner off with mango lassi- probably my favorite part of the whole meal. Thick, flavorful and decadent just the way I like it. We got food delivered through DoorDash and it was packed up really well, no leaks or spills. The samosas came with tamarind and mint coriander chutney. They sent a little flyer saying they’re a small business and we can order directly instead of DoorDash/grubhub. I would like to get chicken biryani next time when I order directly.“
“This place is fire!! We ordered the chicken sandwich and goat curry. Perfect spice level and flavor combo. You'll be hard pressed to find a better fried chicken sandwich in San Leandro. Definitely a unique take as it comes with a chutney sauce. We will be back!“
“Absolute favorite Indian takeout in the East Bay. One tikka masala isn’t enough so we always order two simply because we want the leftovers. Spinach paneer, Dahl, garlic naan, it’s all delicious! If you’re ordering pickup, call the restaurant directly to order. DoorDash takes too big of a cut from these guys and it’s better to support local business owners directly if you can!“
“I ordered my pizza after watching a movie at AMC. Being vegetarian, I ordered paneer korma pizza and masala bread, both very close to indian taste (I am indian born)and equivalent to indian pizza local outlet. The pizza had good amount of paneer, too. Will try other pizzas and see if others are at same level of taste. I do feel that it might be a bit pricey, by just few dollars, but again this CA and SF area, being new here from FL this might be a norm here (my good guess).Sorry will take pics of my pizza next time for sure.Vegetarian options: Good indian vegetarian option avaliable.“
“Went in on a tuesday and it was still pretty full and lively! Our server Victoria was really nice :) Everything was prepared very quickly.I got the chilli cheese kulcha and paneer pinwheel. Paneer pinwheel was your standard makhani gravy — would recommend trying something unconventional like tandoori artichoke, kurkere mushroom etc. Chilli cheese kulcha was fire! It was so tastyy. We also got the cashew praline cake. It was not bad but not out of the world too.“
“This is THE best Indian restaurant in Berkeley. We only order to-go and they give generous portions that I can eat over the next two days. This is our go-to place and have yet to find another restaurant that blows us away as much as Mehak does.“
“Super cute bar near campus with a true happy hour! Drinks and bites! Giving date ambiance !The entire cocktail list isn’t on happy hour, but totally worth venturing off and trying the Gumby Buck and “Love and Demons”! My two favorite! The chicken sandwich was good with a side of tikka sauce for dipping! Flatbread was move and fresh as well. There was only one server upstairs when I arrived and the bartender. It got a little busy as the night progressed but still very friendly !“
“Oh Man !!! It was a ' Bomb ' !!! Absolutely ' Hit The Spot ' !!!! I ordered the ' Lamb Vindaloo & Paratha Bread ' !!! It was ' Just Right ' !!! The Lamb was ' Tender & Well Cooked ', & Wheat PARATHA / Leavened Bread ' was like ' Grandma used to Make ' ... I believe that ' Vindaloo ' is a Goan Dish ' from Coastal India .... The Entree was ' Spiced Just Right ' !!! Not too Pungent so as to bury all the Spice Flavors. Potatoes were ' Ample n Well Cooked !!! Cheers n Njoy this Albany Gem that stays Open till 11 p.m. en General ....“
“My go-to Friday night take out after a long work week! Food is consistently delicious and affordable especially compared to every other Bay Area Indian restaurant. C'mon $12.99 for Chicken Tika Masala? That's UNHEARD OF. I am loyal to this place thank you Delicious Curry House for your service!“
“Went here for some drinks and to watch the Tennessee Vols football game (visiting from out of town). Staff was very friendly, and Eddy was great! Enjoyed talking to him, and he put the game on for us and was overall wonderful. I wish we hadn’t eaten lunch before going there, because the food looked great. We did have the fries which were perfect.“
“This place is great. The staff there are so friendly, it's really well priced, and the portions are filling. We typically get their chicken tikka masala, vindaloo, or curry. I really enjoy their fresh naan, and also appreciate that they have gluten free mains which is important for my partner. They offer a small tasting sample if you need it, as they have many options and you may want one before deciding. My only wish, and I agree with some other reviews on this, is that you could order something extra spicy. Enjoy!Dietary restrictions: I was told all their main pot dishes, salad, and rice were gluten free! This is great news for my household.“
