The service was also very friendly, and overall we had a great experience. We would definitely come back. Just be prepared for a bit of a wait because this place is popular. we went on a Monday evening and it was still quite busy. Parking can be tough too. Definitely worth the wait!”

Aki-San will tell you when you’re eating something wrong, but it’s not mean-spirited. You should definitely ask him about his life and his journey to becoming a sushi chef. The sushi is the best you will ever have, even better than sushi I had when I visited Japan. It may be very expensive, but if you have the means it is extremely worth the price. Don’t ask for specific things, get what he recommends (but don’t be scared if you have diet restrictions to ask for something that works). Is is an amazing experience so if you go really enjoy it.”

“Long overdue review: Fat Apples is an institution, to put it mildly. It holds down a big corner on one of the best blocks in town, it’s always open when you need it, and the menu has just about anything you could want. Personally, I subsist on their drip coffee and tuna melts. A dozen cheese puffs is my favorite gift to give.
The staff are cheerful and helpful every single day. And the owners are just as kind and generous outside the restaurant. They’re active in the El Cerrito community and Chamber of Commerce, and they frequently donate cookies to local events. The cookies are always a crowd favorite, of course. My favorite part though? Bob Ross on the TV, all day. I mean, what more could a gal ask for than the calming nature of happy little trees in motion. We’re lucky to have this special place.”

“Lama bar is the best local bar around! It’s the perfect place to watch the world cup with multiple Tvs inside and a big screen tv on the outdoor patio, so you never miss a game. I tried Kyoto Ramen for the first time today. I was feeling down after dropping my kid off at college a few days ago (I thought I was ready, but I was NOT). I decided I needed to eat and I remembered seeing Kyoto Ramen while in El Cerrito. I am so glad I did. I am always a little nervous when trying a new restaurant, but when I walked in, it smelled good. The place was clean and there was plenty of seating. I ordered my ramen and had my food within 5-6 minutes.

The ramen was flavorful, the noodles were firm and substantial. The pork was tender and delicious. The whole thing was Yumm! I would rate this in my top 5 ramen experiences here in the East Bay.

If you are in the mood for some tasty ramen, then I suggest you try this place. Especially since winter is coming!”

“Just finished a wonderful family dinner here. Had a mix of dishes each were well-spiced and cooked perfectly. The naan was buttery soft and the garlic was freshly chopped. The restaurant was extremely clean and well-lit and the service was attentive and kind. We left with full bellies as I couldn’t stop eating one more taste and with the generous portions we have some leftovers for tomorrow I am already looking forward too! Can’t wait to try more of their dishes!”

We ordered Lemon Chicken, Chicken Katsu & Masubi and one other item. I clicked yes to include utensils and napkins and I even added in the notes please include utensils, chopsticks and napkins.
Since I am staying at a hotel these were needed. The hotel had no picnicware so my son and I walked to the store down the street to buy some. Got back to cold food that wasn’t in containers that could NOT be heated in the microwave and discovered they didn’t include soy sauce.
The Mac salad was perfect. The rice definitely needed soy sauce. The flavor of the lemon chicken was great even though it was room temp. The katsu lost its texture in the time it Took to get utensil unfortunately.
I’m not trying to be petty over utensil but it really made for an unfortunate experience.”

“This is my favorite sandwich shop in the area. At least once a week or sometimes every other week, I get sandwiches here from me and my dad. We both love the sandwiches, especially the chocolate chip cookies. The staff is pretty friendly, nice and welcoming. By the time I finally finish drinking my smoothie, I am completely satiated and always think to myself how smart I was to stop by. The value for the money is completely reasonable for the quality you get.

No restrooms? I find that strange for any food establishment not to provide a place to wash your hands, or relieve yourself.

The menu is big, and modification are allowed with tfe smoothie orders.

As an added bonus, is this location. Parking is aplenty, there is excellent ADA access, and the kids absolutely go for these drinks. It is incredibly convenient to visit since it is only one block from the bus and BART, with lots of shopping options everywhere nearby.

Kudos to Eli for running such a tight ship, welcoming atmosphere, and high-quality drinks. This team deserves every single one of its five stars.”
