“I never write reviews, but I came back to this location for the albacore tuna melt sandwich which is amazing. My personal edits involve sourdough bread and substitute Swiss cheese for cheddar. No produce. Can’t wait to enjoy it again! :)“

“This spot is definitely your old school neighborhood bar where everyone knows each other. I was there for a bday celebration.... it was cool for a random eveing. They had kareoke and one pool table. Cocktails seemed to ok for the crowd; no quality wine selections for me so it was a dry night. Overall the music made it was enjoyable.“

“Last year, during my first visit to San Francisco, I discovered this restaurant and absolutely loved it. Now I’m back in San Francisco for the second time, and on my very first day in town, I knew I had to come back here.
The food is incredibly delicious! I was so excited to start eating that I completely forgot to take a picture of the chicken soup, but I did manage to get photos of the İskender and the dessert. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and just as amazing as I remembered.
If you’re in San Francisco, you should definitely give this place a try—you won’t regret it!“

“My friend and I were visiting CA from Tunisia and stopped here for a taste of home. The chef's dishes are delicious and showcase his unique personal touch on classic recipes. We enjoyed everything we ate, and especially recommend the spicy cauliflower and deviled eggs. The meat in the tagines was incredibly tender and flavorful. As we say in Tunisia, Saha w bishfe! Enjoy!“

“Bistro 4293 is truly something special. The food is absolutely incredible, with every dish prepared with exceptional care, flavor, and attention to detail. You can tell there is real passion behind everything that comes out of the kitchen.
What makes this restaurant even more memorable is the owner, Anar. He is one of the kindest and most genuine people you could ever meet, and his warmth and hospitality make you feel completely welcome from the moment you arrive. It is rare to find a restaurant where both the food and the people leave such a lasting impression.
Bistro 4293 deserves every bit of praise it receives. Outstanding food, wonderful service, and an owner who truly cares about his guests. I cannot recommend Anar and this restaurant highly enough. An absolute gem!“

“Absolutely loved this brunch spot! Everything we ordered was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. The avocado toast was impressive. The lamb burrito was the standout for me. It’s not something you see at most brunch places, and the combination of flavors was unique, well-seasoned, and absolutely delicious.“

“As a girl moving to San Francisco, I can confidently say that this restaurant has become my regular spot! When I used to visit my sister who lives in the bay area, we came to this place and instantly fell in love. It felt like a taste of back home with the authentic spices and lively ambience. The food was delicious, extremely fresh and well seasoned. Everything came out piping hot and was clearly made with fresh ingredients. That’s hard to find nowadays. We ordered just about everything popular on the menu and I definitely recommend the sultani… the char on the meat is truly one of a kind. I also recommend the manti. It’s so unique but the tarte yogurt mixed with the tomato sauce just works. The service was also impeccable. Our waiter, Hussein, was so helpful and took great care of us during our stay. We didn’t want to leave! It was such a beautiful stay and I will definitely be returning for the coming years that I will live in SF!“

“Wow, unbelievably delicious, and a beautiful, calm vibe, too! A wide selection of amazing-looking salads to mix and match; I got one with figs, fennel, and goat cheese and one with sweet potatoes and roasted tomatoes, and both were super-good. The salads come with rice and arugula, and you can add extra proteins if you want. Very enjoyable — I’ll be back!“

“Karam is a great addition to Polk St. I enjoyed dining in on a week night. The staff are very sweet and attentive.
I ordered the chicken shish taouk plate as well as the humus bayrooty. I was blown away by both. The food is exceptionally flavorful. Chicken was grilled to perfection. And the extra garlic dip and spicy sauce is the cherry on top. I can't wait to be back!“

“I met up with a friend who chose this spot for its gluten-free options. I ordered the chicken gyro with everything, including hot sauce. It was okay. The chicken could have used more flavor, and the spicy sauce needed more of a kick. Overall, it's a great place for a quick bite with friendly staff and plenty of seating.“
“Wonderful food, amazing staff and great atmosphere.
Kabobs were tender, delicious and juicy, and taste Persian. The couscous dish was fantastic and is worth going back for.
I found this place on a work trip, while looking for a place to watch a world cup match and I cannot believe my luck.
While chatting with the chef Aghiles, he described the dishes and their Algerian/Berber origins of the menu and the Persian cuisine influence (You can see th in the spelling).
Many thanks to chef Aghiles and the staff for an amazing experience. I'm looking forward to be back and taste all the items on the menu.“

“I've seen this place hyped up on social media as one of the best chicken sandwiches out there and had to give it a try.
Got the szechuan chicken sando, the turkey salami and the sesame chocolate chip cookie. Does it live up to the hype?
The short answer is not really, at least in the chicken sando arena. It's a good chicken sando, it could absolutely do with some more pickled flavor, it's a little one note, I'd love the slaw to be pickled to break up the flavor. The bun is excellent, but the sandwich should be $5-6 cheaper, it's almost $20 and for what it is, while good, is simply not worth it when you can get extremely good chicken sandos all over oakland for much cheaper. Again, it's tasty, probably a one and done for me.
The turkey salami was kind of the star. Great bread, big sando (has to be for almost $20), you can tell it's a quality sando. Would I make a habit of getting sandwiches this expensive? Absolutely not. But it's worth trying and is very good.
The cookie was pretty good, room temp but managed to still have gooey chocolate. $7 is a lot for a cookie but it was tasty and not gonna gripe. Seems like a standard choc chip cookie tho, didn't really get a sesame flavor or see any sesames.
The staff were hustling and this place was doing a lot of business so clearly everything is going right. It's a take out only spot and they have a line so be prepared for that.
TLDR- Is it good? Yes. Is it a must try? No. Is it worth trying? Absolutely. Does $50 for 2 sandos and a cookie in oakland feel like highway robbery? A little bit.“

“The lamb and beef doner was very good as was the chicken doner with lots of flavor. When busy seating can be a little tight but also look to the right of entry for additional seating area. Will be back to try more of their other dishes as they drew attention when they went by to serve for other patrons“

“Old Jerusalem is one of my favorite restaurants for Middle Eastern food on San Francisco’s Mission St. I ordered the Mansaf last time and it was amazing, so I had to come back and order the Mousakhan this time. Dunya was amazing host again and very knowledgeable of the menu and dishes. The complimentary beets and olives were a nice little appetizer while the food gets prepared. The pita with the side sauces were also a great refresher. I ordered the coffee this time and it was a unique flavor that I enjoyed. The Mousakhan dish was a feast! Easily sharable but I devoured it. The chicken was well seasoned and tender. I liked how it was served over a pita bread which soaked in the flavor. Eating with hands is the best for this meal and the whole experience was exceptional. I was too full for dessert but I will be back for the kunafa!“
“I do love the breakfast here. The polenta with greens is my standard order. The green shakshuka really is greener than you were expecting. If you come as a party you can sample the various different kinds of hummus. Haven't been disappointed by anything on the menu.“

“Took my family to this new Mediterranean spot in Oakland and we were blown away. The shawarma plate comes loaded with seasoned saffron yellow rice, crispy spiced fries, fresh salad, and the meat is charred and tender with tahini and paprika on top. The hummus is silky and authentic. The Kabab was really juicy and well cooked, and the chef is very hospitable.
But what really got us? They brought out tea without us even asking. That kind of hospitality hits different.
Oakland needed this place. We’re already planning our next visit. 🥙🫶“

“Great wine, food and atmosphere. One salad is more than enough for two people. We got the Retsina wine which was off the hook, soft, velvety and delicious. We got the soup which was reminiscent of Tom Kha in a way and also delicious. Greek fries and lamb salad were also made just right and the food was brought out so quickly. The location is nice and romantic in a way. My wife and I enjoyed the experience very much. Thank you Souvla!“

Dining at Alora along the beautiful Embarcadero waterfront at Pier 3 was an absolute delight from start to finish. We came to celebrate a birthday, and everything turned out to be completely perfect.
The moment we walked in, we were greeted by an exceptionally welcoming and cheerful staff. Their impeccable service, genuine warmth, and attentive care truly elevated our entire celebration. The stunning setting only adds to the magic—the restaurant features luxurious modern decor paired with an extremely beautiful, eye-catching bar that sets the tone for a high-end evening.
Every single dish on the menu was flavorful and crafted to perfection. We kicked off our meal with fantastic appetizers and drinks:
* Appetizers: The Tahini hummus and tzatziki dips served with warm, fresh pita bread were outstanding, along with the crisp falafels and rich focaccia bread.
* Cocktails & Mocktails: Every single drink was uniquely crafted, beautifully balanced, and executed flawlessly.
For our main courses, the kitchen continued to impress:
* Ladolemono Chicken: Incredibly flavorful, perfectly grilled chicken paired wonderfully with rice pilaf.
* Lavraki (Branzino): Hands down the absolute star and favorite dish of the night—tender, soft, and unbelievably delicious.
* Spanish Adobo Shrimp: A standout seafood dish that was packed with bold, savorous flavor.
They offer a fantastic wine selection with plenty of variety; we opted for the Emblem Napa Cabernet, which paired brilliantly across both the chicken and seafood mains.
To round up the meal, the desserts were absolutely wonderful and a total must-try:
* Banana Chocolate Brownie: Decadent, rich, and the perfect hit of sweetness.
* San Sebastian Cheesecake: Exceptionally creamy with that classic, delicate caramelized top.
* Kunafa: A crisp, beautifully textured Mediterranean treat that capped off the feast.
Alora delivers almost Michelin-star quality food, presentation, and hospitality against one of the best views in San Francisco. Whether you are celebrating a special occasion or simply looking for an extraordinary meal, this place is a must-visit. Highly recommended!“
