“Go. To. Tarocco. You. Will. Love. It. Everything is healthy and delicious, but in an indulgent way that doesn't compromise on flavor. The owner could not be friendlier, or more welcoming and gracious. The chef clearly cooks with heart and soul and lots of experience. The atmosphere is sunny, inviting and beautiful. And the daily salads are always a home run. Because the salads are already composed, and you order at the counter, service is immediate. They also have delicious coffee and tea beverages, as well as a daily agua fresca and some really delicious-looking desserts (one a day). I'm vegan, and they have yet to offer vegan desserts, but they always have at least 3 vegan salads available. This is my go-to spot to bring out-of-towners or to go with a girlfriend for a lovely lunch in a beautiful environment. [NOTE: Only open for lunch on weekdays. Weekends and evenings, they're busy doing private events.]“

“The food was delicious and the service was good. The serving size is also solid and no complaints about it. The fries were delicious and perfectly crunchy. Super amazing, a bit oily but lovely. The restraunt isn’t the most nice looking and I did remove a star because the bathroom was really dirty. But besides that the food was good and the price was good.“

“The food was good, but there was a significant delay with my Snackpass pickup. My order number was incorrectly labeled, causing the food to sit on the counter for over 20 minutes until I spoke up about not receiving my food three separate times. No compensation, just an apology.

Update: I've came back multiple times. I love the food, and I haven't had an issue since! Would highly recommend.“

We also tried the fish and chips, which came with a surprisingly tasty mango slaw, and the mushroom ravioli was cooked to perfection. Every dish exceeded expectations.

“My wife and I came out from the Concord area to beat the inland heat and spend the day in Berkeley. We got hungry and decided to stop in here for lunch. The food was delicious!! I’m sad the fact the only picture I took I shared to my Instagram stories and don’t have a picture of my plate. But I had the beef kabob plate with, rice, salad, naan, and hummus. The beef was very tasty and tender. The rice was perfectly cooked and salad was fresh and crispy. My wife had the chicken kabob plate, which came with rice, salad, naan, hummus. The food portions were great and the price is amazing, and the staff is really friendly and welcoming. Great atmosphere to enjoy lunch. I’ll definitely be taking the drive from Concord again here in the near future. As this place is a winner every time.“

“I do love the breakfast here. The polenta with greens is my standard order. The green shakshuka really is greener than you were expecting. If you come as a party you can sample the various different kinds of hummus. Haven't been disappointed by anything on the menu.“

“The pomegranate chicken… I’m sure on this earth there must be better chicken but I haven’t found it yet. Every childhood event, you’d open the tray and there would be the pomegranate chicken and the yellow rice. Nothing better. “I don't remember how many times i've been here lol. Whenever I was too lazy to prepare lunch for myself, I usually bought gyro in this place and then went back to my lab/class. The price is affordable for Berkeley Standard (i remember it was around 12 usd before tax).

This place was also in UC berkeley north gate before, so it was close to my building. Then the one in north gate was closed. However I didn't mind to go back and forth from my lab to this place in southgate, my lazy ass didn't mind to go downhill then uphill lol.
And yeah, this place also offers halal food, so that's a plus“

“Finally ate here and the food is really quite good. Mezze platter was delicious and I was able to get gluten free pita! They also have a lot of vegetarian options, many featuring impossible meat. So I had the Impossible wrap and it’s really well spiced, very tasty and huge! Leftovers! The only disappointment was the spanakopita which was very bland and didn’t seem to have any feta in it. My mom was very disappointed. They offered to remake it which was very nice. We’ll be back!“

Hazim is so remarkably kind and attentive to customers that I must suspect his critics of un-cafe-like behavior that required his attention!
