“Food is consistently good. Service has always been great but varies when the crowd is packed. Ambiance has not changed in many years. But, we come here for the food be it lunch or dinner. Get the 'boat' if you have a small hungry group. Always pleased.two thumbs up.“
“I happened to go to Castro Valley Marketplace today. I walked by and The sushi at Akemi looked fresh. The young lady at tge front said hello and asked if I had any questions about Akemi. I asked about the eel and some rolls. She was courteous and I ordered some delicious made-to-order sushi. The chef was prompt, professional in attire, and just as courteous as the young lady in front. I tasted the dragon roll. Delicious. Fresh. Beautifully presented. I'll be back soon! Nice experience with courteous polite service and delicious fresh sushi--Excellent!“
“My Jackie-bee and I had a perfect time here at iSuhsi. The workers were friendly and kind, and the food was flavorful and tasty! It was such a great date night for two exceptionally hungry guys! Here was our itinerary for the night. 1. Arrive at iSushi (in Castro Valley) 2. Eat Sushi, specifically the 007 roll, among others 3. Pay for said Sushi, and we went off on our night! Oh, my Jesus, and what a fantastic night it was. As the sushi arrived, it was more than obvious that the fish had been placed atop the rice- like a Bald Eagle would its nest. Resting perfectly. After each bite of delicious sushi, you could practically feel the flavor particles- like butterflies, land on each and every taste bud like a butterfly would to a flower. So delicious. All in all, would recommend it.“
“Greeted with amazing service from beginning to end. We brought a little baby and forgot to bring our scissor to cut the food into tiny bits. The kind waiter gave us one to use, and without asking gave us extra napkins, a cup with a straw, and a baby bowl. Is the waiter a parent too? Because he gets it! We appreciate the gesture! Food is delicious too, of course. We went back several times. :)“
“First time trying this location BUT it felt very familiar since the interior was similar to the Oakland location. The nigiri combo also started at $25 for 7 pieces with the options to pick more expensive fish. Scallops and toro are available for no additional cost here as well. Honestly, a great addition to the area. Highly recommend their kurodai, aka black snapper, because they sear it very well.“
“This place has a nice homey feel to it, and the workers are really nice! The price is really reasonable, especially considering it's Japanese food, but I can't help but say that something about the quality is not quite up to par. My family got the Lion King roll, Sukiyaki, and a Nabeyaki udon. We all agreed it all tasted good but just wasn't the best of each dish that we've had before. Will plan to come back for sure still!“
“This is kind of an out of the way spot which is taking over an old pho restaurant.I flew in late to Oakland airport, I need something warm and homey. Frankly, I was itching for a good ramen. Having lived in the Bay Area many years, I knew I could find something like that. This place wasn't too far off of my path, and it was late and they were still open.Walking in the place is fairly unassuming, yet there is still some customers there. Almost that closing. I asked quickly if it was too late to grab a ramen, the kind gal could be said please have a seat.Looking around, I saw several tables that were covered with dirty dishes and uneaten food. Well that wasn't necessarily a great first impression, at least they had a good rush.Sitting down I received a menu, and a glass of cold water.Looking at the menu there was a variety of ramens to choose from, and so I went to my go-to Tonkotsu. Almost nothing better than a Tonkotsu with Chashu late at night. Done that many times after hours in Tokyo.Anyway I had to add Gyoza as a side to complete it.First come out the gyoza, and their fried on all sides. That is not my first choice, and this is very common when prepared by non-Japanese. I bit in, and while decent, they were not great. But the Ramen came out, and I was very excited. It smelled right, the broth was piping hot, and there was several good pieces of Chashu.First, I sip the broth. It was good and hot. Second, I slurped the noodles, they are firm, warm, and perfect flavor. I grab a little sneak bite of a Chashu, It's warm, nice savory flavor, and a good thick piece. I'm pleased. I dive in. Before I knew it the ramen was gone, Gyoza, pretty much gone, and I was very full. The broth was nice and hardy, with a savory thick flavor, and simply it was a calming experience before hitting the hotel. For me my final question is always "would I go back?" The answer is a definite yes. Though I probably would not get the gyoza. But if you're looking for a good ramen, I recommend.“
“AMAZING quality, a clean ambiance, great service and family friendly. We came for lunch and the rolls we ordered were delicious and the sushi/fish was all so so fresh. The staff was ever so warm, inviting and attentive -- we had a 2 year old with us so eating out can become a thing, but their kiddo friendly options were a hit and the staff checked in on us frequently and never made us feel like "that" family. My two year old had a California roll (real crab, little bits of cucumber and generous avo!), udon noodles and he even killed my miso soup side. We're hoping to come back here for a date night (beautiful interior) to try out some other items from their menu and what looks to be a very generously stocked bar and drink options. Thank you, Kinja!“
“As soon as I sat down at the table, I received free fries and green beans. Today, I ordered a dinner box that included pork cutlet and Godzilla rolls with my friend. First of all, I was surprised by the amount of food, and the food was so delicious that I ate everything even though I was full. This is my third visit to this restaurant and I think I’ll be a regular customer. I‘m very happy with the service and I was charged just $35. Totally satisfied! Cost-effective restaurant!!“
“A gem of a restaurant tucked away in Castro Valley. Took my mom here to celebrate her birthday and had a lovely experience. The chef and the staff were all super attentive and kind, and even provided some complimentary sips which were like nothing I’ve ever tasted. This was our first proper omakase together, but it won’t be our last. Everything was prepared masterfully, super fresh, and very tasty. We even opted for a couple of extra bites which were well worth it. Dining like this is a nice treat once in a great while.“
