If there was ever a Union City spot that deserved more attention it’d be this one. I’ve tried many things on the menu on various visits and have been satisfied every time; pretty much everything on the menu is solid, and the portions are great. The workers are very good about checking in on tables and can give recs for first timers.
Amazing service, even though they were busy they took care to make sure you feel welcome and keep the food fresh and hot for you.
Tip: rsvp in advance. Place gets poppin on the weekends. I came with a group of 7. Place was short-staffed due to a call-in.
- Rose tteokbokki. I liked the bacon on top! The sauce was creamy and cheesy. The ramen was the best part.
- Supream chicken wings. Thick gochujang sauce.
- cheese powder chicken wings. Not pictured, but these were actually hella good. Reminds me of cheetos???
- shrimp tempura. Not pictured. Meh. Similar to, if not the frozen box from costco.

Matzip Korean Restaurant is a wonderful spot offering authentic Korean flavors and is considered one of the best Korean spots in the area. The menu features unique and tasty dishes with big portions. Favorites include the perfectly crispy fried chicken, available in spicy, honey butter, soy-garlic, and buldak styles, with wings described as enormous, crispy on the outside, and juicy on the inside. The japchae is highlighted as the best ever, with sweet potato glass noodles cooked just right. Other standout dishes are the flavorful bulgogi jeongal, the exceptional tteok-bok-ki served a unique way, perfectly chewy jajangmyun, and delicious bibimbap. Vegetarians will find several delicious and satisfying options, including a vegetarian-friendly Bibimbap and crispy fried seaweed rolls, which are also a hit with toddlers. Appetizers like mochi cheese balls are also recommended. The side dishes, especially the kimchi, are fresh and balanced. The staff is accommodating, attentive, friendly, and kind. The ambiance is pleasant and great, making it a must-try restaurant. Under new management, the food quality reflects positive changes and exceeds expectations, making Matzip definitely worth checking out. Patience is appreciated as the popular spot adjusts to its well-deserved recognition.
