“So far I found Rays Sushi is the best Japanese restaurant in my area. Ray originally opened in Hayward , then they moved to Newark a few years ago. We followed Ray to Newark. After about a year , closed again and relocated to Lion Plaza , Newark. We then return to Ray so many times. Now during pandemic, I ordered sushi to go more often. They have a management team to reply email, answering questions, they take care of my order correctly , great job done every time. Quality of food still as good as dine in. two thumbs up“

You start by picking your base: sushi rice, brown rice, or greens, then add your proteins with variety such was spicy salmon, tuna, shrimp, tilapia, tuna salad, tofu, etc. You can choose a spice level, and additional toppings such as edamame, corn, seaweed salad (so good), macaroni salad, crab, etc. I love to add spicy mayo and yuzu ponzo, plus eel sauce. “Overall, I really enjoyed the tsukemen and it definitely satisfied my craving. The pork was tender with the perfect amount of fattiness, and I especially loved the bamboo shoots.

There are two things I think could make the tsukemen a solid 5/5. First, the dipping broth could be thicker and more concentrated. It had great umami flavor, but because it was a little too soupy, the sauce didn’t cling to the noodles as well as I’d like. One of my favorite things about tsukemen in Japan is how that rich, concentrated broth coats every bite of noodles.

Second, the noodles themselves had great texture—firm and perfectly al dente—but they broke apart very easily. By the end, I had a lot of tiny broken noodle pieces, some only about half an inch long. That’s something I rarely experience with tsukemen noodles in Japan, where they tend to stay long and intact throughout the meal.

That said, the flavors were there and I left satisfied. If they could thicken up the dipping broth and improve the noodles so they hold together better, this would easily be a 5-star tsukemen for me.“

“Went here with my wife and daughter and we got a table right away. It seemed like they had just opened and were still getting everything ready. The servers were young, and they were upfront with us that the food was going to take a little while.

It also seemed like they didn’t have a huge kitchen staff, but somehow they still managed to pull everything together and get the food out. Honestly, it was 100% worth the wait. The food was so good, it felt like Jesus himself came down and cooked for us 😂.

Prices were friendly, the food was tasty, and the overall experience was awesome. You could tell they were working hard, and they still delivered a great meal despite being a little short-staffed.

Definitely a place I’d come back to. And if you don’t like the food… just go home and boil some instant noodles 😂.

“I recently visited Taishoken Ramen and had an enjoyable dining experience overall. We ordered the regular ramen, the spicy ramen, and the chicken karaage.

The regular ramen was the standout of the meal. The broth was rich, well-balanced, and full of flavor, making it both comforting and satisfying. Every component complemented each other well, and it was a bowl I would gladly order again. The spicy ramen, however, fell a bit short of my expectations. While it certainly delivered on the spice level, the heat overwhelmed the broth, making it difficult to appreciate the depth of its flavor. I would have preferred a better balance between the spice and the overall taste of the ramen. The chicken karaage was excellent. It was perfectly crispy on the outside, tender and juicy on the inside, and made for a great appetizer alongside the ramen.
I had a positive experience and would happily return. Although the spicy ramen wasn’t my favorite, the quality of the regular ramen, the delicious karaage, and the welcoming atmosphere made the visit worthwhile. Next time, I’m looking forward to trying the signature dipping ramen, which I’ve heard is one of Taishoken’s specialties.“

“My friend and I got the Mentaiko soupless ramen, shishito peppers, takowasa, squid legs tempura and the hokkaido crepe. Everything was delicious. Ramen was rich and creamy with a hint of spiciness. Our appetizers were all delicious, flavorful and the squid legs were so crispy. I love the texture from the takowasa, crunchy and had a chew to it. Our servers were very sweet and helpful. “Our family loves Sumiya Bento in Milpitas. We eat here all the time. Once a week if possible! The food quality and service has always been consistently top notch!

We have also ate at the Sumiya Bento location in Santa Clara several times, but we prefer the Milpitas location! The skewers at the Milpitas location has always been juicy and cooked just right. For some reason everytime we eat the skewers at their Santa Clara location it has been dry and too charred/burnt. Not sure why.

So definitely give Sumiya Bento Milpitas a try! You won't regret it.“

“We chose the Silver Tier at Sea Wagyu House and had a great experience. You order the meats and other dishes through a QR code and everything came out quickly--usually within just a few minutes.

They offered several kinds of sushi, and everything we tried was delicious. The meat was also very good. Our waitress cooked it for us, but you can cook it yourself if you prefer.

For dessert, I ordered the strawberry and banana crepe. It wasn't overly sweet, which I really liked, and it was a great way to finish the meal.

The restaurant has a modern atmosphere, and I especially liked the Japanese signs near the bar up on the ceiling. They looked really cool and reminded me of my time in Japan in Omoide Yokocho. Overall, the food, service, and atmosphere was great.“
