“I almost never give five stars because there will be someplace better. This place will be tough to beat. Friendly staff, great atmosphere, but above all, great food. Extremely fast service. Generous menu with lots to choose from including numerous sakes. Highly recommended for a sushi lover.“

“I had the bento box at Mikado in downtown Los Altos and it was excellent. Everything was fresh, beautifully presented, and very flavorful. The portions were generous and well balanced, making it a perfect lunch.
Friendly service and a cozy atmosphere — I’ll definitely be back!“

“SUMIKA is easily one of the best dining experiences in Dublin if you’re craving authentic Japanese food. From the moment you walk in, the warm, intimate atmosphere makes you feel like you’ve stepped into a true Tokyo izakaya.
The food is exceptional across the board. The yakitori is the highlight—perfectly grilled over charcoal, juicy, and packed with flavour. Every skewer, from chicken thigh to tsukune, is cooked with precision and care. The sushi and small plates are equally impressive, with fresh ingredients and beautiful presentation that shows real attention to detail.“

“Wonderful Uni. Very fresh!!! The rolls were very well done: tasty with a great presentation. Recently remodeled, keeping the best of the old with a crisp new look. Warm and friendly service that you don't experience in most restaurant.“

“Absolutely amazing! The presentation is lovely. The sashimi is so fresh. The soup had so much umami. Even the salad had a light refreshing sesame dressing. They have a sushi train going around the bar area in the center! The jewel is the service. The chef, the server, and the owner John all came to check on us and chat with us! If you are in Los Altos please go to this Japanese restaurant!“

“If you come here expecting fancy cuts of super exotic fish, you’ll probably be disappointed. However, if you come with an open mind to try different types of fish each seasoned and dressed slightly differently to complement the flavors and also to cater to a less ‘traditional’ palette, then Robin can be a fun experience. We set our price point at around $140 and was served a good amount of food we felt full after. Our server confirmed our dietary restrictions and preferences, and was able to customize each piece to cater to everyone. My favorite piece was probably the uni wagyu seaweed crunch. We came for a work dinner and ended up finishing 3 bottles of sake and had a great time. We were probably responsible for destroying the ambiance as we probably got abnoxiously loud towards the end. Good option for date night or for an expensive company dinner :P“

“I'm a wagyu enthusiast, and while I generally think wagyu is not worth it in hot pot. The ayce and happy hour options make it worth it.
Psa, do NOT order the sushi. I wouldn't order it even if it was free. It does not look like the image, and it tastes like low quality fish“

“From the warm greeting everyone receives when walking through the door to the attentive and super friendly service, this place is amazing! The sushi was outstanding… hands down the best sushi I’ve ever had! The texture, taste and presentation was top notch. Wish there was a location on the east coast!“

“Many promotions going on, they have eat for under $10 and I was more than full. Also they have a gift card deal and more discounts when leaving a review that I am taking advantage of! This place is very well priced and you can tell everything is fresh. I saw the girl cutting up all the vegetables from scratch. Very honorable place, really liked the kake, similar to miso soup in my opinion“

“Pretty solid. Quick service. Really attentive. We went when it was a bit slower so it was a little awkward with them hovering by, but I get it. Lots of options the ayce is kind of pricey but if you're coming hungry I think it's worth it. Really appreciate the condiments already being at the table for sauces. Would definitely come back, but maybe for happy hour, for the price discount.“

“At Iki omakase, the chef created a menu which included seasonal ingredients that translated to a delicious and refined dining experience. This dinner was extra special because we were there to celebrate an intimate send off for the bride and groom (Nic & Joseph 🥳) before their scheduled wedding ceremony in Santa Barbara CA. Chef Li and the entire staff at Iki omakase did not disappoint. The entire dining experience…priceless“

“Ranzan Redwood City is one of the best omakase experiences I’ve had in a while. I went with the Hana Kaiseki set ($98) and it felt very worth it for the quality and variety. The pacing was just right, nothing felt rushed, and each course was thoughtfully decorated! I enjoyed every moment during the experience.
We started with warm house sake to warm up, and luckily it paired really nicely with the meal and made everything feel extra cozy.
Then for the courses, I had:
- Starter: Kumiage Yuba with light house sauce and wasabi, I'm so impressed!!! At first I thought I was eating some fish liver because the texture was similar, but turn out it's tofu and they makes it excellent! A very nice starter
- Appetizer: Squid tempura, pickled radish, mushroom & veggies, and tamago. I really like the tempura, crispy but not greasy, nice mix of textures
- Sashimi plate: 3 pieces of bluefin tuna otoro, very fresh and buttery, just melts in my mouth! Love it
- Oden bowl: I'm so in love with the broth, sweet, umami and comforting. It had braised pork belly, radish and konjac jelly, and all taste amazing, could not find any words to complain
- Grilled fish: a very simple dish with not much seasoning. Fish was paired with some salty pickled plum and sweet potato.
- Steamed tofu with abalone: I really like abalone texture, they made it very tender and easy to chew. Also not much seasoning so that you can feel the natural taste of the seafood, love that!
- Hotate scallop with persimmon sauce: I don't like persimmon that much, but the scallops taste fresh and sweet
- Rice bowl with pickles and miso soup: this is the 2nd final course, they have 2 options to upgrade from the white rice, uni ikura (+$16) & A5 wagyu (+$26) - we have 2 people so we order both to try a little bit of everything. Both worth the upgrade, but I prefer a5 wagyu
- Matcha yokan with red beans and hot tea: the dessert was a bit too sweet for me, even though they served with hot tea to balance. But still, a great dish!
Overall, really solid omakase spot on the Peninsula. I’d definitely come back if I had the chance!“

“My wife and I love ramen. And we love coming to this place when we visit from out of town. One of the best ramen we've had. Great flavor and quick service. The service overall is wonderful as well, always nice to hear a couple of Japanese words. The atmosphere is wonderful, works with kids as well. And my server this round was Yoshie, she was great as well as everyone else that proactively helped keep things in tip top shape.“

“Best Kaiseki I've had outside of Japan. Food was high quality, flavorful and well balance between traditional/simple and creative. Their sashimi, grouper Owan, and A5 rice bowl were incredible. The only bad bite I had was the raw scallop (too fishy). On the downsides, the meal starts 30 mins past the appointment time, and took over 3.5 hours due to slow pacing.
Big plus for having a good sake collection at a reasonably fair price.“

“We went here with our 1 year old and it was a great experience! Staff was very friendly and the ambience was good too :)
We tried the heart attack sushi and the mango crunch sushi and both of them were very tasty.
Would definately recommend this place!“

“This restaurant is run by an elderly couple who are genuinely the sweetest people ever! They make you feel so welcome, and the food is absolutely incredible.
Every time I come here, I get a plate with the shrimp tempura and a California roll, and the chicken teriyaki is so good too. But honestly, their salads are actually my favorite part—I can’t even explain it, but the dressing they use is just so insanely good! I end up eating so much of it. In fact, everything is so delicious that I always buy a ton of sides every single time I go. This place is amazing and deserves so much more love!“

“Very refined modern takes on Japanese food. The food is first class, service is great, and love the sake! Considering the incredible quality of the food, the price is very reasonable. If all you want is your typical California Rolls ect, this is not the place. You get a wonderful Omakase menu here. Definitely recommend Soho for those looking for great, and non-typical Japanese food.“

“Been here several times over the years, not nearly as much as I would like as I don’t live close enough. The food is always excellent, whether it’s the traditional skewers or their rotating more creative bites. And, I’m a sucker for Yaki Onigiri and theirs is excellent. As is the rice bowl side that comes with the perfectly cooked runny egg yolk. These space is a small so definitely recommend reservations during peak hours.
Service is very prompt and friendly.“

“The hostess was so awesome and just a ball of happiness and great energy.
The food was delicious and presentation was good; as many have said the Chicken Teriyaki was fantastic.
Portions were pretty good.
I’m a big eater so we ordered a lot. Chicken teriyaki, 5 Maki Rolls and a pop. Total plus tip was $100+
Give it a shot! We will definitely be back.“
“Friendly, fast service. Comfortable seating and clean, lovely decor. Pleasant music and atmosphere. The food was delicious and freshly made. The tempura coating was crisp without being oily. Good amount of food for the price. Planning to return for sure!“

“A little late posting this since my visit was a while ago, but I still remember how much I enjoyed this place
I honestly wasn’t expecting the menu to be that big. It really felt like a proper Japanese izakaya where you can order a little bit of everything, share dishes and enjoy a few drinks without feeling rushed
We tried several things, including the grilled squid and a baked seafood dish, and both were really good. The squid was tender and flavorful, and the baked dish was rich, cheesy and perfect for sharing. There were so many other things on the menu that I wanted to try, it was honestly hard to choose lol
We also had a few drinks, which made the whole experience even better. The food, drinks and casual atmosphere all worked really well together
It didn’t feel overly trendy or too polished, just comfortable and very local. Definitely the kind of place I’d come back to with friends, order a bunch of dishes and stay for a while
Really good food, lots of variety and a fun izakaya vibe“

“The beef tongue was absolutely delicious! We ordered two servings, but the second one wasn’t as good as the first—it was a bit tougher.
The ramen and the beef rice bowl were both very tasty as well. However, the beef was a little too rare and had a strong bloody taste. We hope it can be cooked a bit more next time.
Overall, we had a great dining experience and would definitely come back!“

“We were looking for a new place to try and Octopus had some great reviews/ pictures of their sushi rolls. After looking over the menu we decided to head on down. Friendly staff got us seated right away and we started with a round of appetizers. Gyoza, chicken karaage and a Toro Nigiri special started off the night and everything was delicious. Ordered 4 rolls and a bento box combo and everyone was extremely satisfied with the food. Can't wait to return and explore more of the menu“

“Fugetsu is a world wide chain of okonomiyaki. In fact, Rokko/Fugetsu has the first location of Fugetsu in the whole US.
Always a good vibe here and possibly the only place to get okonomiyaki in the Bay Area like they do it in Japan. Huge menu and drink selection with the shared Rokko and Fugetsu menu. I like the okonomiyaki sampler a ton as well. Portions are huge for this dish and everything else on the menu.“

“The shrimp battered onigiri with teriyaki sauce and a mustard tasting leaf sha-la-la on my tongue.
Came home from work and tried this… The presentation threw me off, I’ve only really had seaweed covered onigiri. And I was pretty skeptical of the taste especially because the rice looked drowned in teriyaki sauce (is it teriyaki sauce?). but when that first bite touched all my gustatory cells I was in heaven looking down at earth. The leaf separating the rice and shrimp gives the food so so so much depth. Its sweet and then a bitter and fresh taste.
This was the best surprise after work.“

“Been here many times already. It’s a go-to spot for date night or bringing friends or out of town guests. Good assortment of food options on the menu. They have really good happy hour(s) Saturday, Sunday, and Monday that’s worth checking out.“

“We tried the Kimchi Beef with Rice and the Garlic Beef with Rice. Between these two, the Kimchi Beef has a lot more flavor. The kimchi is, however, far too salty. Add the Garlic Shoyu sauce at the table to bring out the Garlic Beef dish. Otherwise, it's relatively plain. The pork katsu with curry sauce was fine, though not remarkable.“
