Sumiya Yakitori Reviews
Everything great except for the pork 😔
My 10th Anniversary was on a Wednesday and I made reservations. They give you an hour and a half for dinner but our order took about an hour and a half to come. Long story short.. the restaurant needs to make a better effort in improving their service. It’s gotten bad.

Located on Homestead, Sumiya Yakitori is a solid, reliable izakaya that hits the spot every time. The food is always on point, with a menu featuring authentic and comforting dishes like Gyusuji Don, Tonkatsu, and a variety of skewers including chicken thighs (sauce and salt), tsukune (meatballs), gyutan (beef tongue), kalbi, jumbo pork sausage, and hotate (scallop). The hotate skewer is a standout—perfectly tender and nicely grilled. Other favorites include the chicken skin, shiitake mushrooms, and raw squid/octopus with wasabi, which has become perfectly balanced with the addition of seaweed. The Gobu fries are different but enjoyable. Service is always very friendly and efficient, even when the restaurant is packed. While some dishes can be a bit dry or uneven in seasoning, especially near closing time, the atmosphere is great. Regulars note the place has gotten much better over the years, though prices have gone up. It’s not a flashy place, but it’s a delicious and reliable spot for yakitori, with many customers planning to return for dinner and more skewers.
