I'm glad I gave it another shot. This time we came to celebrate a visiting friend, and Mikiya more than delivered. The menu has noticeably improved, we were seated promptly, and our server Zac was the kind of hospitality professional who makes a meal memorable. Friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive without being overbearing, his recommendations were spot on and genuinely elevated the whole experience.

“MONDAY FOOD REVIEW...PUESTO...6/17/24! After leaving California's Great America, we stopped for lunch at Puesto, a Mexican/American restaurant, located at 2752 Augustine Dr., in Santa Clara. This restaurant features Mexican dishes with an American flare infusion! I had their their Shrimp a la Plancha, which is Mexican shrimp, garlic butter, red onions, jalapeños, guajillo chile, avocado, and Tamarindo-chile sauce, and it comes with herb lime rice, black beans, and blue corn tortillas. This was absolutely fabulous!!! It wasn't your typical Mexican dish...the different ingredients they used to create this dish all blended together VERY well!!! If you are looking for a little something different to satisfy your Mexican food craving, and want some added flair, then this is THE restaurant to go to!!! I HIGHLY recommend it!!!! I will say, the price was a little steep for the type of meat and ingredients and the menu was pretty well-thought out but random. Not so cohesive of a menu it felt. But I really appreciated the creativity and the fact that this restaurant is serving foods like smoked
chicken gizzards for the more refined palate; there were provoking plates that deserve applaud.

The wine pairing was worth adding. 3/4 pairings were outstanding.

The ambiance was also homey but elevated, if I could turn my living space into this room I would. I think this was my favorite part of the restaurant. It was definitely a haven!

“I love this restaurant, but it is NOT a sports bar. It's a restaurant (with good food!) with a square 'floating' bar in the front of the restaurant that has a few TVs that usually have sports on. If you want the divey, sports-bar experience, this ain't it.“

Upon entering, you are greeted with a calm, loving greeting that feels like you are truly appreciated supporting their business. This is extremely important in the USA. After that, you are asked if you have been there before, and if not, they explain the process to you meticulously and at a perfect pace. There is no feel of a rush. The feeling I get is they truly want you to enjoy their food and they want to make sure it is right.
The food is expertly cooked with a smile and warm hello from the cooks. While your food is being prepared, the gentleman makes sure your food utensils and preferences are met before your meal makes it out.

Every time i go here, its magical. I feel relaxed and so happy to support this business. A business that loves their customers is hard to find nowadays. Working in the airport is stressful, and this is my grounding point that makes that work stress just another day with a smile on my face. Thank you Su’s!!!

“I went to Puranpoli on the advice of my Uber driver from the airport, and I can tell you that I did not tip him enough... IT WAS EXCELLENT! The palak paneer was excellent, as was the garlic naan. Great flavor, and just the right hint of spice. I also got the namesake dessert on the advice of the host - when I was about to get gulab jamun - and I'm so glad I did! I'll definitely be back when I'm in town to get thali and the ukadiche modak dessert!“

“Tofu soups are ok. There quantity of tapas is a bit lower than Tofu Plus and King Tofu in comparison. The staff didn’t refill the emptied tapas dishes contrary to what the other restaurants would do. Prices are a bit higher too. Service is similar to the other two restaurants mentioned“

“I had an amazing first experience at Poke Poke Fish Bar! I ordered the regular 3-protein bowl (around $21.50) and it did not disappoint. I went with sushi rice, spicy crab, and chose tuna for all my proteins—super fresh and flavorful. I loaded it up with all the veggies, added seaweed, and topped it off with their house sauce and spicy sriracha… absolutely delicious.

What really made the visit stand out was the service. The young man and woman working there were incredibly friendly and took the time to walk me through the options since it was my first time. They made the whole experience easy and enjoyable.
