“I used to go to the Sourdough Eatery on Oakland Rd. Im so glad my GPS brought me here instead. Parking is a bit of a hustle but these are some of the best sandwiches in town! The bread is fresh and delicious and the meats are freshly sliced! I got to meet the owner and found out they’ve been here since the 1970s!“

“Stopped by for lunch on a Sunday with a good friend and we were absolutely delighted by the quality of the food and the kindness of the staff. It is really hard to find fresh vegetarian food like this anywhere in San Jose, let alone for such a reasonable price point and lots of gluten free options. Everything was delicious. They even gave us some tomatoes to take home! Best item by far was the chocolate pudding with fresh plums and dried apricots. Can’t wait to come back!“

Got the sambusa, beef wrap, and the beef plate. Food was overall quite well done and portion sizing was generous. Beef was tender and flavorful. Also LOVED the tea, v good mix of spicy & sweet, v delicious.

S1: sambusa was easily my favorite (it’s pretty spicy fyi!). I thought the beef in the beef wrap was tastier than the beef in the beef plate, so I would probably opt for beef wrap next time.“

“House of Bagels near SJSU is a great family-owned shop. The bagels are fire, especially the salmon bagel, but anything you get will definitely taste good. There’s usually a line, but it’s definitely worth the wait. Parking can be hit or miss, so be prepared to walk a bit.“

They are only open for weekday lunches and there's no curb appeal so this is not a date night restaurant.

There is limited and narrow parking in a tiny lot on the other side of the street. I find it is usually easier to park on the residential street and walk a short distance.“

You are greeted warmly upon arrival; the space is neither large nor tiny. It is an open-concept restaurant (you can see the kitchen), and the place is bright and clean.

You order via a QR code, and the food arrives at your table quickly.

The portions are neither too big nor too small; I find them just right—whether you're really hungry or want to take some leftovers home for later.

“Mina's Korean BBQ is a cozy, family-run Korean restaurant in North San Jose with a welcoming neighborhood feel. It’s a good place for traditional Korean comfort food, generous portions, and plenty of banchan without the higher prices of some upscale Korean BBQ restaurants.
The Galbi is one of the standout dishes, with tender Korean-style BBQ short ribs that are savory, slightly sweet, and nicely marinated. The Bulgogi is another solid choice, with thin slices of flavorful marinated beef. If you want something warm and comforting, the Soon Du Bu comes bubbling hot with soft tofu and your choice of meat, while the Galbi Tang is a hearty short-rib soup.
The Dol Sot Bibimbap is also worth trying because the hot stone bowl creates a nice crispy layer of rice at the bottom. Their Hae Mul Pajeon, or seafood pancake, is another good dish for sharing. The lunch boxes are also a good value, usually coming with rice, side dishes, japchae, and your choice of meat.
Service feels friendly and personal, and the kimchi and side dishes make the meal feel very traditional. It’s not a fancy restaurant, but that is part of its charm. A very good choice for satisfying, home-style Korean food in San Jose.“

“TBH I was hesitant at first to eat at Acopia. As a vegan, most Mexican restaurants do not usually have options for me. Their menu is somewhat minimal and limited, so entered with few expectations or hopes that I could order anything more than a salad. However, I was pleasantly surprised! The owner came to our table and was most accommodating. I ordered a succulent nopales salad, street corn and some delicious blue corn sopes de calabasita (zucchini and flower). It was all quite tasty and I was even more surprised when she brought out some vegan mayo AND vegan cheese to top off my food with more flavor. The atmosphere is very modern and simply styled, mirroring their “chic” food menu. I found the food delicious though a bit on the bland side, but was grateful that they came through for me and my vegan diet. I left sated and happy that I could fully participate in the meal alongside my meat-eating friends. The owner was very thoughtful and really went out of her way to make sure I had plenty of choices to order. Although it was a bit pricey, I will definitely go back again. The modern ambiance, the attentive service and the fancy yet rustic food combined to make a lovely evening meal.“
