“Food was 10/10! I was craving Vietnamese food and came across this place on Yelp! It's located inside a food court where the Lion Plaza is. It's cash only and the price is $20! They only have one thing on the menu and it's a Bò Né aka Shaken Beef Sizzling Plate! I thought everything was so good! The bread was so soft, warm, and fresh. The salad was beautifully dressed in a sweet vinegar sauce. The pate created a nice salty taste to add onto the bread and eggs. The beef was so tender and was paired nicely with a sweet sauce. The onions create, not only a nice crunch to the dish, but also enhances the flavor to the whole thing! I really liked the chili oil as well! I think this whole meal was very well worth the price and it's very filling too! The meal also comes with hot tea! I didn't really get to experience the service, but it was quick and simple! You just order and pick up when it's ready. The place is also open seating so you can sit anywhere. Overall, I would love to eat here again!“
“My new favorite place to go in San Jose! I live an hour northeast of this place and I will gladly drive down with my family to enjoy great food here. I tried this place for the first time on Tuesday with my friend and then came back with my family and friends on Sunday. We loved it and the server was kind enough to let my family taste their ube waffle for free! Love their food and service! Thank you Duy! It was great chatting with you and learning a little bit on how you started the business. Wish you and your wife much more success. Also, wishing you can open a bigger location and possibly multiple locations in the very near future ?“
“It was challenging to find this place since I was arriving via ʙɪʀᴅ scooter rental! If you’re not from San Jose or familiar with the area then simply look for a gathering of people standing outside this business establishment. That’s how you will know you are there because I rode past this spot several times before realizing it was the busy spot.. lol Đức Hương truly did not disappoint as they fully understood the assignment when it comes to this Vietnamese staple. I ordered their #1 Bánh Mì Thịt Nướng, #2 Bánh Mì Đặc Biệt with the latter being reserved for tomorrow’s lunch. And so I naturally ate the aforementioned #1 and it pure magic!! They really know how to make their baguette as it was a perfect combination of thin, crisp crust with a soft, airy texture. Which really complimented their absolutely fresh ingredients and savory flavors.. I was very impressed as it’s been years since I’ve enjoyed a high quality Bánh Mì Thịt Nướng!!! I also tried their refreshing coconut dessert: Thạch Dừa which is a Vietnamese coconut jelly and it was delicious! This establishment is a MUST SEE & TRY especially if you’re passing through San Jose.. ~An“
“Your typical hole-in-the-wall ethnic gem where the food is consistently authentic and very good. The service is also on point. It's nice to get a great Pho joint that doesn't require traveling all the way to Hanoi or even East San Jose. Highly recommend!Parking: Strip mall style parking so if the other mall businesses are also busy one has to park on the side street instead of the main lot.“
“This is probably one of the only places I would drive 1+ hours to San Jose for. It's a very small place with basically no place to sit being run by the sweetest older gentleman. This is more likely a to-go kind of place even though they have a few tables for you to eat at. Everything is vegetarian which is always amazing and everything is delicious!! I don't even know what was on that combo plate, but I loved every bite of it. If anyone asks me for recs for the South Bay, this is the spot I always give.“
“Super cute vietnamese restaurant in a modern vibe..I dined in the evening, so the lady owner was working super hard to serve her patrons..soups are good, she told us she doesn't put any Msg in her food like most vietnamese restaurants..I had the Beef combination pho that came with a beef bone to chew on on a separate plate which was unique..will recomend !“
“Ate lunch here today, the calamari and zucchini appetizer was excellent. Followed by seafood pho. The broth was rich and flavorful and the seafood was fresh and plentiful. Really enjoyed the food and the server was outstanding. Definitely a great place for lunch at competitive pricing. We'll be back for sure!“
“Really good food! The place is decent, sometimes the food is timely but sometimes the wait has been very long. The food is tasty and very consistent. Typically worth the wait if you’re looking specifically for quality vegetarian or vegan food.“
“Got to visit Ong Ta Banh Cuon Bun Moc (banh cuon is freshly steamed rice rolls filled with grounded pork, onions, spices & chopped dried mushrooms) is located in the Vietnam Town Shopping Plaza.Ordered to go #1 special Bánh Cuốn Đặc Biệt – which had delicate chew, juicy bits of pork and veggies giving a burst of flavor accompanied with fresh bean sprouts, mint, herbs and other sides, all meant to be dipped or drizzled in a prepared savory fish sauce (add on chili sauce and fried shallots for umami)Taste: 4.8 / 5 starsPortion size: generous - one to go portion was enough for twoLikely the best in San Jose as I’ve been living in the NorCal area for over 35 years now and hadn’t come across a banh cuon restaurant with not only generous portions but tasty combinations of various fried grounded pork patties and steamed pork patties (cha) & nem (cured pork patties) etc - four different types total plus a deep fried sweet potato shrimp cake to top it off.Would I visit again? Absolutely ?Recommend to family & friends: for sure ?To go order total: under $18 USDOn a separate note, love to ski, ride & good eats? ? SnowPals Dot Org since ‘99Parking: Lots of parking; there is also a covered garage parking all the way in the backKid-friendliness: Saw lots of family with kids dining in.“
“This space is absolutely beautiful. The decor is warm and welcoming. The menu is beautiful and well thought out. It is by far the best menu I have seen. The texture. The rich color. The photos. The service was great, welcoming, knowledgeable, intuitive & frequent enough. The food was amazing. Beautiful presentation. Eye-rollijg flavor. Perfect portion size. Comfortably full. The prices were reasonable. We will be back!!!“
“The atmosphere is very inviting and gives an authentic Vietnam feeling. The people there are so friendly. I feel like family each time I shop there. Their menu offer a wide variety of traditional Vietnamese's dishes. I usually cater my party food there. I get their banh bot Lộc, fry shrimp, spring rolls, egg-rolls, crab soup, and cha ca.“
“Stopped in this place while I was down in the area. Hiking for the day. Surprisingly, it was a delicious, fast and well-serviced restaurant. Walked in to find updated decor. Multiple staff members willing and to quickly help. The food was absolutely delicious. Portion sizes are large.“
“Friendliest and fastest service ever! Owner (I think?) greeted me with a big smile, seated me quickly with a menu, and was very attentive. Knew exactly when to come up to take my order, when to refill waters, etc. I really appreciate their polite and friendly efficiency, and I never felt rushed out the door either.Brisket pho was very good, and the small portion was more than enough. There was quite a lot of meat in it! Nice pop music playlist for some fast casual vibes as well. I'd come back here. Also an excellent location since it's right next to a bunch of hotels!“
“Pho 54 is one of the oldest Vietnamese pho restaurants in San Jose. Its pho special is known by good taste, large portion, and affordable price. They always give you extra veggies for pho more than anywhere else!Recommended if you are looking for a good food place.“
“Pho Quest Stop #77It’s been awhile since I’ve tried a new pho spotMy favorite spot Pho Ha Noi now has locations in San Jose, Cupertino, Palo Alto and Fremont and is a successful chainToday was a chance to try a mom and pop shopPho Nhy is on McKee Road and the options here are sparse. The prior pho spot was one of my lowest rated pho spots I had triedBut I heard this new establishment and the nearby Duc Huong sandwiches had renewed food cred of the areaTheir signature is the beef stew which I really enjoyed with flat rice noodles and the pho oxtailSoup flavors were solid and both fresh flat and regular rice noodles are availableThe Hainan chicken was a bit lean but overall this is a surprising find for the area? Bo Kho $16.50 ~ Beef Stew, Large, Rice Noodles / Pho Tai Duio Bo $15 ~ Large Pho with Flank Steak and Oxtail / Hainan Chicken with Rice $16?Pho Nhy (San Jose, CA)My Pho Quest Rankings: [San Jose, unless noted]============1) Pho Ha Noi - BEST Pho (Overall & Northern Style)2) Pho Cong Ly - BEST Oxtail Pho3) Pho Y1 - BEST Pho (Southern Style)4) Pho Kim Long - BEST Chicken Pho5) Turtle Tower (SF) - Pho Dac Biet6) Pho Ga Hung - BEST Cau Bun Rau Muong7) Pho 79 (Garden Grove) - Pho Dac Biet8) Pho Papa - Pho Dac Biet with Special Beef Short Rib9) Pho Tick Tock - Pho Tick Tock*10) PHO NGUYEN (Milpitas) - Pho Nguyen Dac Biet w/ fresh wide noodlesDining is indoor only and credit cards are accepted“
“Have loved this place for years. My go to for banh mi. Also like all the snacks I find. They offer pho. If anything, you need to also try their Vietnamese coffee.Parking: Probably about 12 spots. Easy enough to get in and out. Sometimes busy but moves quickly.“
“??️ Let me tell you about DiLac Vegetarian Cuisine in San Jose—it's truly exceptional! From the moment you walk in, you're greeted by the warm and friendly owners who make you feel right at home. The service is nothing short of impeccable, ensuring that every visit is a delightful experience.I'll never forget the first time my sister-in-law introduced me to this hidden gem over 20 years ago. However, from that very first bite, I was hooked! Now, it's become a beloved tradition for our entire family to dine at DiLac whenever we're in town. What I love most is that it caters to everyone, whether you're vegetarian, vegan, or simply looking to explore new culinary delights. “Walked in here on a Sunday with a group of 4. We signed in and waited maybe about 5 minutes before we got seated. We've had this as take out before actually coming in person to eat here. The flavor of the pho and meat portions is good. They have this spicy paste that you can ask for, and it is SPICY, like habanero spice. This is the reason why I would go back because it's so spicy yet adds amazing flavor to your pho. I opted for fresh noodles for the extra $1, which I think is worth it, although other pho spots let you choose without any additional charge.Service was good, and we had our cups refilled with water frequently, which I needed from my mouth being on fire. If you want to save money, bring cash, since they charge more if you use your credit card.Overall, this place is solid, and I would come back again to try other food.“
“This was our first time dining here and we had an amazing experience! If you're not sure what restaurant to dine at in Vietnam Town, you definitely want to check this spot out! The net egg rolls (must try!!) have such a slight and delicate crisp, making every bite so satisfying! Their pho dac biet was so aromatic and packed with meat! The fried chicken rice plate was so tender and paired so well with the fish sauce for a burst of umami flavor! Their taro salad was something I've never tried before, and was so tasty! The fried taro balances well with the tanginess of the salad and so addicting to eat! And lastly the shaking beef was so juicy and flavorful and loved the sauce! The portions are so generous! The restaurant itself is very cute and clean! We loved the lantern decor! We received great service and were informed about the popular menu items. Overall it's a fantastic spot to dine with family and friends! There are so many restaurants in Vietnam Town, and it can be so hard to pick where to eat, but you definitely want to check this spot out! We will definitely be back! Since it's located in a busy plaza, parking can get crazy especially during the lunch hour. But since people are coming and going for lunch, it's fairly easy to find a parking spot. There's also a parking garage in the very back of the plaza, very close to Pho This Way!“
“We had a good overall experience at Nem for dinner. I was excited to try the seafood dishes but two of them (whelk and razor clam) were overcooked and rubbery. Not a good experience, especially having tried the same dishes at other local restaurants and in Vietnam. The clams with the Nem special sauce were great though. We also enjoyed the braised catfish (ca kho) which also had small pieces of pork belly. Yum. The canh chua soup and veggies were good, but the fish was a bit overcooked and tough as well.I increased my rating by one star after the staff responded with some good points. I appreciate their effort and willingness to receive and apply feedback.“
“Last night, We decided to have dinner at this place. The chilly weather made it the perfect time for a steaming bowl of pho. The restaurant has its own parking lot, but there is also street parking available. As soon as we walked in, we were warmly greeted and promptly seated. The menus were handed to us, allowing us to quickly decide on our order. To start, we ordered the fried egg rolls, which were crispy and flavorful. For our main course, we opted for the filet mignon pho and the brisket pho. The vegetables served with the pho were fresh and added a nice crunch to the dish. The food itself was solid, with the flavors blending together harmoniously. The service was quick and friendly, ensuring that we had a pleasant dining experience. The restaurant itself is cute and spacious, providing a comfortable atmosphere for enjoying our meal. Overall, it was a satisfying dinner, and I would recommend this place to anyone craving a delicious bowl of pho.“
“I can't help but share my love for Green Lotus - a cozy haven for veg/vegan food enthusiasts like me! I've been here multiple times, and each visit has been wonderful- service and food! One thing that keeps me coming back is the fantastic pricing. Green Lotus offers an excellent range of dishes at pocket-friendly rates, making it a go-to spot for those looking for quality without breaking the bank.As a vegan, I appreciate the plethora of plant-based options available. From flavorful curries to savory stir-fries, Green Lotus has nailed it when it comes to satisfying my vegan cravings. However, I must mention the parking situation. It can be a bit challenging, especially on the weekends. But let me assure you, the culinary journey at Green Lotus is well worth the parking struggle. If you're a food lover like me, you won't let a little parking hiccup keep you away from this hidden gem.In conclusion, Green Lotus has become my go-to spot for a delicious and affordable meal. The love for their spring rolls, the variety of vegan options, and the friendly atmosphere have made it a favorite in my book. Despite the parking challenges, I'll continue to return for my fix of mouthwatering delights. Highly recommended!Vegetarian options: All food options are vegetarian or vegan.Dietary restrictions: Vegan options available“
“The service is usually good, although there have been a few hiccups in attentive staff but that mostly could have been due to time and demand. The food comes fairly quick and hot, and it is very good. The pho broth here is the best in the area (south side) hands down in my opinion and it does not taste like they made shortcuts in making pho by adding pre-made broth and/or a LOT (keyword lot) of MSG. The portion size is also respectable and the quality is perfect at the price. I really recommend this place to anyone because honestly it is soo worth.“
“Very personable and attentive owner; cozy, comfortable environment; an eclectic variety of dishes. Our weekly family favorite for authentic Vietnamese cuisine! Off the beaten path-but don’t miss it!!Dietary restrictions: Owner is clear about ingredients and modified as necessary.Kid-friendliness: Our kids love the beautiful fish tanks and the delicious Pho in kid-friendly plastic monkey bowls!“
“Yummy lunch. Stopped by to have their famous grill fish. It was quite busy when we arrived. We got the table right away. The interior is standard. We ordered spicy and sour seafood rice noodle soup, grill fish, and chow fun with stir fry seafood and veggie. All are yummy, and the portion is generous. The vietnsmese coffee is also good. It is not too sweet. The highlight dish is the grill fish. It is for 2 people but it can feed more. Service is quick. It is good for the group. It is cash only. It has an atm machine inside.“
“I had a hard time finding this place, but when I did, I was greeted with an arched ceiling and colorful, tasteful decor.I came here because of another review telling me “the banh mi itself is a FOOT LONG.” They didn’t lie! The veggie banh mi was huge had plenty of vegetables. I was surprised that the bread was fresh and soft during my evening visit. I loved the crunch of the fried tofu, too! Fellow soyboys and goji girls, go get yourself a veggie tofu Banh Mi. For meat eaters, the wings are a beloved house special (also pictured).“
“Delicious rice noodle bowl arguably above and beyond many restaurants. Very fresh ingredients cooked to order. Impressed by the tenderness of the shrimp and what in Chinese we call the taste of the wok of both the shrimp and the veggies. The signature fish sauce is also a must.“
“TLDR: pretty good BBH! Would definitely recommend to friends and come again. We usually go to Hue for BBH, but we decided to give this newer (?) restaurant a shot. We don't live in SJ anymore, so this was a new place for us at least. Inside is clean and small. The wait staff was chill. So the food. It's good. My fiancee and I both ordered the BBH, mine just had the oxtail in it. We also got the #1 appetizer (I forgot what it's called). The soup itself is what you would expect from good BBH, but a little sweeter than Hue's. They gave a healthy amount of meat and the oxtail was soft and the meat fell off the bone. I really liked their BBH. The noodles were soft and chewy. The appetizer was also really good. They had a lot of shrimp powder on top which I really appreciate because I really like that flavor. Overall, this is a good restaurant and I wouldn't hesitate to come back when I find myself in SJ again.“
“Best authentic Vietnamese food I've had in the South Bay. The lady works the front was super friendly and gave us great tips on what to get. Everything we ordered was delicious. I live near San Jose also we've had plenty of Vietnamese food but none compares to Quan Hue. Don't sleep on it cuz it's in a food court.“
“Food was great with a really cool atmosphere to be around. Order the" pork belly with rice and egg". The place is really unique with the way you have to stir/cook food on your own. The meats and veggies being fresh ready to be cooked on the mini stove. Staff was really nice and helpful with any questions we had. Just need to be wary of keeping an eye on your food so it doesn't burn or overcook. Can ruin the entire meal.“
“I'm so glad I visit this restaurant while I was in town! Everything tastes authentic and the portion is above average. Server is very attentive and friendly. Highly recommend banh bot loc, banh nam, banh it, and banh beo as appetizers! Mi Quang is a solid 8/10 for me.Would definitely be back whenever I'm in SJ.“
“+ Great variety of pho noodle soups. There are quite a lot of menu items (e.g pork intestines) that I have not seen in any other Vietnamese pho restaurants in Bay Area.+ Personally really enjoyed the wide rice noodles.+ Good portion size- The soup has a slightly sweeter taste than usual.“
“I’ve been going for years so I came back with my friends and wife. My wife got the fish sauce frog legs which tasted like chicken. Well everything tastes like chicken. I got the catfish and pork belly with a side of white rice. This place has the best catfish so flavorful and tender. I would come back just for this. The service is fast and quick in and out. The decor is nice and clean with a unique ceiling lighting. Their menu is pretty extensive so look throughly and you’ll find some gems.“
“They make the BEST hanh phi in San Jose. We only come here for Hanh Phi. It's crispy, fragrant, not too oily and lasts for months. Now that I live in Vegas, I have to buy it in bulk to take it back with me every time I come to San Jose. We used to buy it in Vietnam, but BBT makes it so much better!“
“My go to favorite place to get fried tofu! They have plain fried tofu and a mushroom/noodle mix one that is amazing! The small fried tofus are now 4/$1 which is still a good price. Must come to if you are in the area! Do be careful they sometimes close earlier than their posted store hours.“
“Did this place live up to the hype? YESSSS. I am pretty picky with my pho... in order to impress me, a good bowl of pho must include:- clear, beefy and hearty broth but not too salty- broth not overpowered by spices esp cloves- fresh noodles- good ratio of meat, noodles, and herbs- piping hot so it burns my mouthAnd yes, this place had it all. I think this may be the best bowl of pho I've had in a long time.“
“Amazing and authentic BBH. Broth has deep beef and lemongrass flavor. Large portions with lots of different proteins including fresh cha Lua, thinly slice beef shank, and pork belly. Would be a 5 star if the satee was slightly more rich in garlic, lemongrass and spice.“
“Whenever I'm craving something warm and cozy this is my go to. All the dishes taste like it's homemade. Quick and easy meal no fuss. Recommend: - mi ga dac biet (egg noodles with chicken. The broth on this is . The portion is big so I can usually share this with another person. - the chicken salad (similar chicken to the one in the noodles but more and has cabbage I believe) - chicken rice plate“
“Veggie pho w/ beef broth, calamari, and coconut prawns on a rainy day was just what I needed. The food was pretty good but the service earned that five stars. The waitress was very accommodating and genuine.Parking: Shopping center plenty of parking“
“The pho is not bad for about $12 per bowl which is cheaper than most places. The place was almost empty on a weekday for lunch, but service was kind and quick. The broth was actually quite flavorful and good. Strangely, they skimped on the amount of noodles, but gave a generous portion of meat. I actually prefer it the other way around, but I still left full afterwards. Meat was a little overcooked, but still good. I'd say this is a pretty solid, no frills spot for pho at a reasonable price. They take card also, which is a plus. I would come back if I'm around the area.“
“A Vietnamese-themed vegetarian restaurant, nestled in a plaza. Ample parking. The restaurant is cozy, but has decor that transforms you to Southeast Asia, including bamboo-carved starfish ceiling light covers.Service is slow and not attentive. They try but with a full restaurant 3 servers just makes it hard for them to fill water, remember the chili sauce, and clear dirty piled-up plates. The food is tasty although I found the imitate meat a bit salty. The salty fish fried rice also lacks that salty fish taste, although the texture of the dish is crunchy and layered. The lau, or hot pot - we chose Thai style - was reasonable but pricey at $36 for the amount of food offered. There were about 4 pieces of imitate ham, oyster mushroom, zucchini and a plate of yellow and white vermicelli noodles. The soup was flavorable but I was expecting more of a tom yum style as oppose to a mix of spicy sweet and sour soup style of the traditional Vietnamese format. The oyster mushroom appetizer is refreshing, with a sour sauce that blend well with the ingredient choice.Overall, a solid good meal that is on the light side as it is entirely vegetarian and portions run on the smaller side.“
“We ordered this for work, and it was incredibly tasty. The portion size was solid for the price point (especially compared to all the other places we order from), and everything tasted delicious. I ordered the BBQ pork with tomato rice which came with a side salad as well. They did not include a roll (which some places do with their plates), but I don't think a fried spring roll would have held up well for a group / corporate order. I appreciate the thoughtful packaging. They even separate my tomato rice from the meat which allowed me to taste the flavors separately. My coworkers who ordered their vermicelli dishes had the meat on top of the noodles (which makes sense). I wish U-Pick was closer to where I live, I would definitely make this a regular stop. I hope this becomes a regular option for our lunch orders at work. For those of you who can't take the heat (I can only take some), the hot sauce is full of seeds and legitimately spicy. Even my coworkers who eat really spicy (as in high spice Indian / Chinese foods) said the hot sauce here is really spicy. I don't think of this as a negative, but more as U-Pick's badge of spicy honor!“
“Our special came out in 2 minutes. It was just the right amount after starving myself all day. I accidentally ordered too much because I trusted a review from some bad reviewer that gave a 1 star... He/she is dead wrong or eats costco pizzas for a snack. Also, The broth is light with barely a hint of msg.“
“We were on a road trip heading to Tahoe and needing to stop and get some coffee and a bite to eat. My wife found this place and thought the food looked great. As we're pulling up to it, I'm asking her if she's sure its a cafe and not a strip club... Pretty funny to open the door and see a couple beautiful women in lingerie. They were super charming and friendly to our family and loved our daughter and dog. The coffee was delicious and strong, just what was needed for getting back on the road for a couple of hours. The food was really delicious too, we got a Vietnamese sandwich and some spicy egg dish. Both were great, far better than what we have around home. It was a very pleasant experience and the coffee and food is worth it.“
“It's a small restaurant that serves delicious food and has friendly service. The atmosphere is cozy, and the place is kept clean, including the bathroom.Today was my first time visiting the restaurant, and I ordered a vegetarian dish (Bánh Cuõn Nhân Chay). To my surprise, they brought me vegetarian sauce without me having to ask for it and even replaced my cutlery, which was a grand gesture of excellent service.“
“Went here because the other popular pho ga spot down the street closed at 8pm. This is a great alternative. The rotisserie chicken was great but not as good. However the dry hue tieu really stood out. The gravy-ish sauce was delicious and the side of soup came with a large beef on the bone. The best part was the very friendly service and energetic atmosphere. It's a fun alternative for pho ga plus they have tasty other dishes like bun Bo hu and hue tieu.“
“If you love authentic TRUE VIETNAMESE tasting pho come here ! It is so delicious and nutritious and it leaves you wanting more. The number 14 is filet mignon with rice and vegetable sides and mini pho broth soup. Impeccable. All the ladies as well are sooo so kind ! Shout out to them ??? I suggest this place “
“This used to be a Burger King and awesomely they still have the drive-through going on but I have not utilized it yet for pho. They did a good job of shaping up the interior and the drab windows are even tinted with color now.I liked the broth of the beef pho and it came with a good amount of meat and green onions surprisingly. The noodle portion was on the small side. They add an automatic 10% service fee which is fine as I would at least tip that much but just FYI in case anyone didn't notice and take that into account before tipping more.“
“It's a pretty solid Vietnamese restaurant in the area with really good soup as well as good beef cube steak! Service is pretty solid as well. When we went there was not too many people almost near empty. The sauce is on. The steak was actually sweet and tangy but the salad was very generic and tomatoes felt flat... I do appreciate the soup that it comes with too which is sweet and not too heavy with MSG. The egg rolls while there's only three do fill you up.“
“We came across this place by chance trying to get a late lunch and were pleasantly surprised. We ordered egg rolls, spring rolls, and Pho. The service was great, and the food came out fast. The appetizers were fresh and hit the spot. The peanut sauce with the spring roles was not your standard very sweet sauce but had a little tanginess to it. The sauce with egg rolls was good too. The Pho is probably the best I had, the broth was tasty, and you did not need to add anything to and everything was fresh. Service was excellent and the place was comfortable.“
