“I have tried the pho and beef stew at both the Fremont and the San Jose location, and while they were fine, neither really stood out to me.
The standout is the 1/2 chicken with crispy rice and a fried egg. When the Fremont location first opened, I felt the portion size was noticeably smaller than at the San Jose location. However, I returned about a week ago and was pleasantly surprised by how generous the serving had become. It’s easily large enough to share or take home for another meal.
The crispy rice had the perfect texture, the fried egg was jammy, and the chicken was flavored well. The sauce leans slightly sweeter than savory, but I found it worked really well.
To finish the meal, they served a complimentary slice of their green waffle. My mom and I enjoyed it so much that I asked if they sold them separately and ended up buying a whole one to go.
One thing to keep in mind is that this location closes between 2:00-5:00PM. As someone who prefers eating an early dinner, I’ve wanted to stop by several times only to realize they were closed, so plan accordingly.“

“This family run neighborhood Vietnamese restaurant is well run. It offers 71 menu item in appetizers, pho, sandwiches and rice plates. The prices are reasonable given the portion sizes. The restaurant is well lit, airy and has an open kitchen design. Staff is friendly and efficient. It has long hours, open till midnight.“

“Pho Lan, a true family-run establishment in Fremont, delivers exactly what matters most in Vietnamese cuisine: spectacular, authentic flavor and generous value. While this isn't the spot for a luxurious, white-tablecloth experience, it is hands down the best place to find truly delicious pho and rice dishes in the area.
The primary reason to visit Pho Lan is the food, and they execute it flawlessly. The flavors here are deeply authentic, showcasing the care and tradition that only a family business dedicated to its craft can provide.
The Pho: The star of the show is, naturally, the pho. The broth is rich, complex, and clean—the hallmark of high-quality pho. It’s clear that the broth simmers for hours, resulting in a depth of flavor that many chain restaurants simply cannot replicate. Whether you choose a classic rare steak or brisket combination, the meat is fresh, and the portion size is substantial.
Beyond the Broth: While the pho is a must-try, the kitchen excels across the board. The rice dishes are equally noteworthy, featuring perfectly cooked meats and well-balanced marinades. If you're looking for Vietnamese food that tastes just like the dishes prepared in a traditional home, Pho Lan delivers.
Pho Lan offers excellent value. The portions are notably generous, ensuring you leave completely satisfied. In an age where many restaurants are shrinking servings, Pho Lan maintains a commitment to great portion size, making it a fantastic choice for lunch or dinner without breaking the bank.
It is important to manage expectations regarding the dining environment and service. As a dedicated, family-run operation, the entire focus is on efficiency and getting excellent food to your table quickly.
Ambiance & Service: This is not a restaurant built on trendy decor or overly solicitous service. The atmosphere is simple, casual, and functional. Service is efficient and straightforward, reflecting the priority of the kitchen over the front of house flair. If the quality of the food is your main metric, you will be thrilled. If you expect a high-end, polished dining experience, you might need to adjust your expectations. Pho Lan is an honest, no-frills location dedicated to its culinary mission.
Pho Lan is a Fremont treasure. It’s the kind of local spot that deserves strong community support because they consistently nail the most important element: the food.
For authentic flavors, generous portions, and truly delicious Vietnamese cuisine—from the masterful pho broth to the flavorful rice plates—Pho Lan is highly recommended. Come support this dedicated family business and enjoy some of the best Vietnamese food Fremont has to offer.
This was long due- will post pictures next time I visit them.“

“Delicious pho in a relaxed setting. Broth was rich with a deep flavor. This is where you should go for a special occasion. Loads of beef in the pho, along with very fresh ingredients. There were quite a few varieties of beef pho on the menu, from single beef vaieties all the way to loaded varieties that carried ingredients like tripe. I strongly recommend this restaurant.“

“The food here was phenomenal!! Our order was taken by the restaurant grandpa, and he was the sweetest. He literally walks away, and two minutes later, our food is at our table. The broth was delicious. Some of the best we have had around this area. And then best part is, it was affordable.“

“Very good Vietnamese food, very clean, fresh, delicious, with such great, great service! Family style meals! Would recommend to all. Must try all of the other many dishes here asides from always ordering the lettuce wraps with the meat rolls, still can't remember what this dish's name is though I've been told, like, 20 times. Horrible memory. Hot tea is very good too!
I don't think they have pho or bun, just an FYI.
In the Milpitas Center Shopping Mall strip mall with Paris Baguette, Daeho, Jang Su Jang, Grocery Outlet, etc.“

“This place is a fantastic spot for authentic Vietnamese food! The moment I walked in, the cozy atmosphere and the smell of fresh herbs and spices made me feel like I was in Vietnam. I ordered the pho and the spring rolls, and both were amazing—the broth was rich and flavorful, and the rolls were fresh and crispy. The portions were generous, and the prices were very reasonable, which is always a win. The staff was friendly and attentive, though the service was a bit slow, probably because it was busy. The only downside was that the place is pretty small, so finding a table during peak hours can be a challenge. Also, the parking situation wasn’t great, so I had to circle around for a bit. But honestly, the food more than made up for it. If you’re craving real Vietnamese flavors, this is the spot!
Vegetarian options: Yes, there are a few vegan options on the menu, like vegetable pho and vegan spring rolls, but the selection isn't huge.“

“Adorable, small family atmosphere with large food portions. Peaceful and clean. I ordered the soft Chow Mien and thoroughly enjoyed the heaping portion of perfectly cooked vegetables. The mushrooms were shiitake- quality food rather than cheap oyster mushrooms.
One man was handling the tables and to-go orders. Arrive patient and understanding- he works hard and walks slow due to pain. Your good food is well worth the minute or two wait.
The menu holds both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options.“

“I love the broth!!!! I can tell that you must have braised the broth forever since the broth was so good. I was busy each time my husband wanted to take me so I asked him to buy to go. OMG a I opened the door coming home to smell Pho all over my home. It felt as if I was at the restaurant. The aroma was pho-Ing good!!! The meat was pho-tastic.and I love the huge volume of onions and fresh tasking ginger in every bite. If you love pho or if you love noodles or if you love food, then you must visit this Pho Thin Ha Noi - pho-ing good.“

“This is one of the better Vietnamese restaurant. They offer wide variety of Vietnamese food.
I like their short ribs the best. And their big bone short ribs pho is also very good.
But I liked the soup base in their pho noodle. And they give you a good portion for the price that you're paying.
It has high CP.
To avoid long line, go either before lunch hours or after.“

“This is our favorite com tam place in the area! The shrimp cake in the com tam here is sooo good! It's very moist while the outside is perfectly crispy.
The service here is amazing. They're always looking out for us and our baby, picking the best table in the restaurant for us and our stroller. We love the variety of their menu, too. They have pho, banh khot, phnom penh hu tieu, and I heard the lady say she also has banh hoi! Sooo good, I feel like this place will go viral.“

“This place has good food, but they really do need to focus on cleaning up the area where you eat! All the tables were filled with crumbs from people eating and the floor looked like it hadn't been cleaned in over a week and none of the staff seemed to care about it. They were busy on their phones instead of tidying up the place.“

“Dakao sandwiches has been around for over 30 years maybe 40. Decor is probably original. Anyway banh mi sandwiches are generally good. Expect to pay 7 dollars for a standard banh mi. They use a 10 inch narrow baguette. Filling is ok but uneven. Buy 2 and it's still less than what you would pay for a sandwich from a deli or sandwich shop.“

“Pho 90 Degree in Milpitas delivered a solid meal with a welcoming atmosphere and prompt service. The broth was rich and aromatic, and the portions were generous enough to leave me satisfied. It’s the kind of spot I’d happily return to for a comforting bowl of pho when I’m in the area.
My only slight letdown was that the seating felt a bit cramped, which made the meal feel less relaxed than I’d hoped. Still, the quality of the food and friendly staff made it a worthwhile stop overall.“

“Loveddddd it! 💚
Had the Iced Strawberry Matcha with the seasonal Banana Foam on top.
If you’re having decision fatigue and want something that will definitely be good, order this. The sweet, tangy strawberry complemented the matcha perfectly without overpowering it (make sure to mix it well)
The banana foam was creamy, delicious, and topped with a cookie crumble that added the perfect finishing touch.
Definitely going to come back to try their other flavors (if I ever get over this)“

“Have been here a few times already and everything is consistently delicious. Thought it was about time for a review! Most recently, I ordered the pho ga (chicken pho) just as it is and it was flavorful, full of good size chicken pieces, ample noodles, and the broth was perfect. Toppings on the side were plentiful (basil, lemon, sprouts, etc.). I also ordered a soda chanh (lemon soda) and some spring rolls. Again, never an issue with the freshness or quantity provided. Just loved it and highly recommended you pay this restaurant a visit if you're in Union City and are seeking a wonderful Vietnamese restaurant. While I haven't tried the other meat/rice dishes they offer (since I typically only ordered pho), my other family members have and will attest that they are made well and are of sizeable portion. Also, the family that runs this place is always kind and efficient. Thank you so much!“
