“First time diners. Sat inside and loved the dining room. Their “patio” is a parklet on the street, nice but still a street view. Lived the ambiance and restaurant vibe. The wait staff is obviously well trained as they are super professional and attentive. Most of the servers are a bit more mature than your average restaurant server, so they seem to take great pride and ownership in their work. We never wanted for anything nor did we feel hovered over. We ordered the calamari, which had a nice breading and was relatively tender compared to most. We also shared a Greek dinner salad, which was quite fresh but the dressing lacked much flavor, though my partner thought it was really good. She had the salmon, which is served with a light tomato based sauce, lemon mashed potatoes and zucchini. The salmon was a wee bit over cooked and didn't really have much flavor. I think she said, “kind of bland.” She always compares salmon ordered out to the Pacific Rim Salmon at Shadowbrook in Capitola, which she absolutely loves. I ordered the roast chicken, which was served with broccolini and roasted fingerling potatoes. The chicken portion is substantial and the chicken, which is roasted over an open flame in the exhibition kitchen was tender and delicious. The vegetables were very good. We shared the baklava, which comes with vanilla ice cream. The baklava was pretty dense but was tasty. We would definitely return...“

“My order was a Spicy-Crispy Chicken Sandwich, and OMGGG the best chicken sandwich I’ve ever had in awhile, don’t be fooled by the spicy, depending on your spice level, if you are a person that does not like spicy food, avoid this sandwich 🤣🤣 I eat spicy and it was a good spicy, I would definitely recommend this sandwhich. I accompanied this sandwhich with their delicious cheddar bacon ranch fries! BEST FRIES EVERRRR! The staff was very lovely and very nice!“

I’ve had the pleasure of dining at Rara Palo Alto multiple times, and each visit has been nothing short of exceptional. This place truly brings the authentic flavors of Nepal to the heart of the Bay Area. From the moment you step in, the warm ambiance and inviting aroma of freshly prepared spices set the stage for a memorable meal.

What stands out most is the quality of the ingredients—everything feels fresh, organic, and thoughtfully sourced. The spices are vibrant yet balanced, elevating each dish without overpowering it. I’ve traveled and dined at many places, but Rara Palo Alto has earned a special spot on my list of favorites.

A few must-tries: the lamb chops are perfectly cooked and seasoned, the momos are juicy and flavorful, and the Nepali Taas along with Chhoila (both veg and non-veg) are absolute showstoppers. Each plate tells a story of tradition and care.

Behind this incredible food is Chef Binod Paudayal, whose 30+ years of experience shine through in every creation. His journey from small kitchens to luxury hotels is reflected in the finesse and consistency of the dishes here. The staff, too, deserve a shoutout—they’re attentive, friendly, and go out of their way to make you feel at home.

“I came here for a school field trip. The trip was amazing and super fun. Basically we tested their new robot system, and it was really cool. After we finished, we fought each other (the other kids). “We had a very pleasant birthday dinner here, and much to my surprise, a dessert I had not ordered. It was a green cake with a berry sauce. I think it was on the menu but I do not recall what it is called. Very good. I had the day's special, pork in an apricot sauce, which was terrific. If it becomes a regular item on the menu, I would certainly choose it over the schnitzel, which I usually get. And they even had a terrific Belgian beer on draught, Chimay Blue. A wonderful meal.“

Until, we talked, I stopped ordering from Terun on principle. I was a frequent client. Takeout customers must be honored for requests that are gladly honored when in the dining room. Takeout customers should be thanked for not causing dirty tablecloths and dishes -- and LOYALTY. Jessica reinstated that loyalty. I truly hope that the owners appreciate her. “New York Pizza in Palo Alto is, in my opinion, the best pizza in the Bay Area. The taste of their pizzas is absolutely delightful, and the ingredients are fresh and high-quality. “Nice place to eat, I only give the food 4 stars because the little differences in their rolls compares to others I've had with the same name just wasn't really for me. I ate them and enjoyed them as best I could and had no issues with them just not the best I've tried of rolls with that name.“

“Stopped by Ramen Kowa after an AI workshop nearby, and honestly, it was a cute and easy little dinner stop on California Ave. The menu had a pretty solid variety of ramen, including tonkotsu, spicy miso tonkotsu, shoyu, shio, and miso, along with Japanese comfort foods like karaage and curry.

The restaurant has a casual, slightly izakaya-style vibe, and the outdoor seating was nice for a chill Palo Alto evening. The ramen was good and satisfying overall, although I personally wished the broth had a little more depth and richness, especially for the price. The service was friendly, and everything came out smoothly.

Overall, I’d give it around 3.5 stars. It’s a solid neighborhood ramen spot and a convenient choice if you’re already hanging out around California Ave, but probably not somewhere I’d drive a long distance specifically to visit.

“We had an absolutely exceptional dinner here! We ordered the hummus, the chicken kebab plate, and the combo kebab plate. The hummus was incredibly fresh and flavorful, and the bread was served so warm and fresh that it practically melted in our mouth. The kebabs were hands down the best we’ve ever had-tender, juicy, and perfectly seasoned.
On top of the amazing food, the service was outstanding. The owner was very courteous and constantly checked on us to make sure we had everything we needed. The small upscale restaurant was popular with a full house with outdoor seating where we were.

Many tables ordered Al la car like I did & they’d leave early. Chef’s menu takes about more than an hour. Bite-size multiple tapa dishes.“

“Absolutely love Joanie's Cafe when I'm craving a good ole American style breakfast. I grew up with those meals and Joanie's reminds of those great times.
Eggs, bacon, sausage, toast, omelettes, Benedicts, pancakes, juices and coffee. You arrive hungry and leave satisfied because the portions are hefty. Doesn't break the bank either. Great service from a professional staff.

“Came on a Sunday around 7pm and there was still a line but we were seated within 15 mins so not terrible. They use QR scanning on the table but the servers do come around to check if you have questions. We ended up seated outside, which wasn't bad since it was a bit warm that day.

We ordered the regular soup dumplings (XLB), the pan fried ones, (SZB), the egg and Chive pancake, and the green onion noodles (recommended by the server). Both baos were excellent and we ended up ordering seconds of both of those. The chive pancakes were pretty good and the noodles were tasty as well but we felt that for the price, it wasn't worth it.

We'll likely be back again but stick to the baos.“
