“We were visiting from Boston on a family trip and stopped by this restaurant on July 2. The food was absolutely delicious(my top pick is black king but sides are also good, chicken and dumplings), but what made our visit truly unforgettable was the incredible hospitality from one of your staff members.
Unfortunately, we never got his name, but he was a Korean staff member. From the moment we were waiting in line, he noticed our 5yo drawing on the order sheet and kindly interacted with her. Throughout our meal, he kept checking on us and made our whole family feel so welcome.
Before we finished our meal, he came over to let us know that he was heading home for the day. Because of that, we never had the chance to properly thank him, which is something we’ve regretted ever since.
Our trip lasted two weeks, taking us all the way from San Diego to San Francisco, and we visited many wonderful restaurants along the way. Yet, almost a month later, our kids still talk about “the uncle” from this restaurant and keep asking when we can come back. That says more than any review ever could.
If we ever have the opportunity, we’d love to come back just to thank him in person. And if by any chance you’re reading this review—thank you for making our family trip so special. Your kindness left a lasting memory for all of us.
If you ever find yourself visiting Boston, please don’t hesitate to reach out. We’d love the chance to return the kindness you showed our family.”
“An exceptional culinary experience at Protégé in Palo Alto. Every dish showcased masterful technique and impeccable flavors. The A5 Japanese Wagyu Ribeye was perfectly marbled and melted effortlessly, while the Crab and Caviar delivered a luxurious balance of brine and sweetness. The lobster toast was crisp, buttery, and indulgent, and the Black Bass—flawless in execution—was the best I’ve encountered. The Ricotta Dumplings , delicate yet deeply flavorful, rounded out an unforgettable meal. The shigoku oysters with whipped ponzu were indescribably fresh and flavorful. The sunflower Caesar, with its preserved tomato jam, was a unique and unforgettable twist on a classic. As for the brick chicken that we took to go, it was so delicious that it barely made it home before being devoured. The experience was elevated even further by the outstanding service—every person was kind, attentive, and genuinely dedicated to creating a memorable evening. A true showcase of precision, creativity, and hospitality”
“Delicious and wonderful as has always been! Loved the watermelon salad and the lamb skewers. Pan-fried cheese, might have benefitted a clearer description as was thinking it was more like a halloumi but of course, is my ignorance but perhaps others would be, also. Calamari delicious. Baklava was outstanding, also. Cannot wait to go back, again!”

“At Iki omakase, the chef created a menu which included seasonal ingredients that translated to a delicious and refined dining experience. This dinner was extra special because we were there to celebrate an intimate send off for the bride and groom (Nic & Joseph 🥳) before their scheduled wedding ceremony in Santa Barbara CA. Chef Li and the entire staff at Iki omakase did not disappoint. The entire dining experience…priceless”
“love this place. might be expensive but worth it been com I ng here for years”
“My wife & I had Sekoya's 3-yr anniversary prix fixe meal. Everything just plain delicious. The Bavette steak was killer, the burrata starter excellent. My wife loved her yellowtail starter and halibut main. The butterscotch and watermelon desserts were delish. I brought a bottle and was treated to excellent wine service, beautiful glassware, with a (by today's standards) very reasonable $35 corkage. Sekoya is now on our radar, and we'll be back!”

“Rara Palo Alto – A Hidden Gem for Nepalese Cuisine
I’ve had the pleasure of dining at Rara Palo Alto multiple times, and each visit has been nothing short of exceptional. This place truly brings the authentic flavors of Nepal to the heart of the Bay Area. From the moment you step in, the warm ambiance and inviting aroma of freshly prepared spices set the stage for a memorable meal.
What stands out most is the quality of the ingredients—everything feels fresh, organic, and thoughtfully sourced. The spices are vibrant yet balanced, elevating each dish without overpowering it. I’ve traveled and dined at many places, but Rara Palo Alto has earned a special spot on my list of favorites.
A few must-tries: the lamb chops are perfectly cooked and seasoned, the momos are juicy and flavorful, and the Nepali Taas along with Chhoila (both veg and non-veg) are absolute showstoppers. Each plate tells a story of tradition and care.
Behind this incredible food is Chef Binod Paudayal, whose 30+ years of experience shine through in every creation. His journey from small kitchens to luxury hotels is reflected in the finesse and consistency of the dishes here. The staff, too, deserve a shoutout—they’re attentive, friendly, and go out of their way to make you feel at home.
Overall, Rara Palo Alto is more than just a restaurant—it’s an experience. I’m happy to give it a well-earned 5 stars and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a delicious, authentic, and heartwarming meal. Definitely worth a visit!”
“I had an amazing experience at Italico Restaurant! The food was fresh and flavorful, especially the truffle pasta and wood-fired pizza. The service was top-notch, and the atmosphere was cozy yet modern. I’ll definitely be back to enjoy more of their delicious dishes. Highly recommend!”
“I often visit this spot as a sweet treat after a long day and it’s the best feeling. Their froyo has a really strong yogurt taste, and I recommend adding the baklava and honey for sweetness and depth. Their baklava is good by itself too. Servers ate very nice and polite. Highly recommend!”
“In truth, I recommend Jessica --the front desk-- who makes sure that I receive extra marinara as well as extra sauce Anglaise... for takeout. Until, we talked, I stopped ordering from Terun on principle. I was a frequent client. Takeout customers must be honored for requests that are gladly honored when in the dining room. Takeout customers should be thanked for not causing dirty tablecloths and dishes -- and LOYALTY. Jessica reinstated that loyalty. I truly hope that the owners appreciate her. Without extra sauces the food is too dry. With it, delicious. The prices honor extra sauces and more!”

“From the warm greeting everyone receives when walking through the door to the attentive and super friendly service, this place is amazing! The sushi was outstanding… hands down the best sushi I’ve ever had! The texture, taste and presentation was top notch. Wish there was a location on the east coast!”
“🎉 Just had an unforgettable evening at Ettan! Cozy vibes, top-notch service, and every dish was a masterpiece. 🍽 The chef's special? Mind-blowing! 🤯 Whether it's for the ambiance, the flavors, or the amazing staff, Ettan's a must-visit. Left with a full belly and even fuller heart. ❤️ Can't wait to go back! #EttanMagic #FoodieDream #BestDinnerEver”
“We ordered the house combo and it was very tasty. It came with 4 meats(chicken, beef, gyro ,koftedes). All of the meat was juicy, tender and well seasoned. The rice. was fluffy ans delicious. The mixed green salad had tomatoes amd cucumber and was topped with a pickled cabbage and dressed to perfection. I only had a small bite of the pita because rhe meal was so filling. I can't wait to try the baklava we ordered. What a great find. I will definitely be going back to this restaurant.”

“New York Pizza in Palo Alto is, in my opinion, the best pizza in the Bay Area. The taste of their pizzas is absolutely delightful, and the ingredients are fresh and high-quality. The staff is just amazing, so attentive, friendly, and always ready to serve and make sure you’re satisfied. I love dining in, but their delivery service is also fantastic. It’s a treat every single time! Thank you for everything!”
“Stopped by Ramen Kowa after an AI workshop nearby, and honestly, it was a cute and easy little dinner stop on California Ave. The menu had a pretty solid variety of ramen, including tonkotsu, spicy miso tonkotsu, shoyu, shio, and miso, along with Japanese comfort foods like karaage and curry.
The restaurant has a casual, slightly izakaya-style vibe, and the outdoor seating was nice for a chill Palo Alto evening. The ramen was good and satisfying overall, although I personally wished the broth had a little more depth and richness, especially for the price. The service was friendly, and everything came out smoothly.
Overall, I’d give it around 3.5 stars. It’s a solid neighborhood ramen spot and a convenient choice if you’re already hanging out around California Ave, but probably not somewhere I’d drive a long distance specifically to visit.
Also, I was so hungry after the workshop that I totally forgot to take pictures of the food—so all I ended up with was a photo of the storefront lol”
“Fantastic service and Delicious food. Our server ( didn’t catch her name ) was awesome. I do remember she had a beautiful accent. I believe when asked she said she was originally from Kenya! Kudos to her for taking such good care of us! We live in San Joaquin Valley but we will definitely make the trip back for dinner!”
“I’ve come here twice to enjoy and work from my laptop on the patio. The views are stunning and in the evening when it’s breezy they even offer blankets despite the rooftop being heated at night. The light bites are amazing— I LOVED the charcuterie board. There is a 90 min limit on the table which is fine so others can also enjoy the vibes. The service was great, Chef Tony came out and introduced himself and I sang his praises, the bartender and server was attentive and helpful and both even let me know on Fridays or the weekends in the summer they bring in a dj! Will definitely be checking that out!”
“The food is delicious. The sauces really stand out here at Palo Alto Sol. See my review at EssentialPaloAltoRestaurants.com”

“My boyfriend and I went here to celebrate New Year's Eve, and it was a fantastic experience! Sam made us an amazing drink that we absolutely loved. The F&B Manager, Alejandra, was incredibly professional and sweet—she even surprised us with a small discount at the end, which was such a thoughtful gesture. Our server, Michael, was also excellent and provided great service throughout the evening. The live music was out of this world—it truly felt like we were in Hollywood! Overall, it was a magical night, and we can't wait to visit again!"”
“Stopped by Jack in the Box in Palo Alto for a quick meal and had a good experience. The food was fresh, the service was fast, and the staff were friendly. The restaurant was clean and well-maintained, making it a convenient spot for a quick bite. Great option when you're looking for affordable fast food in the area.”
“Comida Grega, muito bem temperada, no ponto certo. Para mim, claro! Parabéns!”

“Ada’s is the best place for delicious food, friendly service and a real sense of community. On top of all that, it believes everyone can have meaningful employment and trains and offers wonderful work under the kind and generous care of founder Kathleen. It’s a community GEM!!”
“Nice place to eat, I only give the food 4 stars because the little differences in their rolls compares to others I've had with the same name just wasn't really for me. I ate them and enjoyed them as best I could and had no issues with them just not the best I've tried of rolls with that name.”
“Ordered a customized egg white omelet and home fries. Arrived quickly in a very full house. The guys on the line don't mess around! Omelet was generously portioned and delicious. Home fries just a little heavy on the spice. Weren't too spicy-hot, just a little heavy-handed with the spices used. I'll absolutely go back.”
“I ordered the sizzling stonepot with galbi (beef) and an ube latte, and both were excellent! The stonepot had a generous portion, tasted just like Korean BBQ, and was packed with flavor. The ube latte had a great ube taste without being too sweet or overpowering. I'd definitely order both again and would recommend giving them a try!”
“They are on Too Good to Go, and I won a bag. I got a duck salad and pastries. I looked at the salad and I was not sure about tiny pieces of bright tomatoes with fatty slices of dark duck meat, feta and chunks of dried figs and I can’t remember all the ingredients but I ate it with Spanish olive oil and organic balsamic vinegar. It was good. I think the tiny triangle cuts out of the edges of tomato slices were well-thought-out because they were bright and flavorful over the earthy cheese, meat and figs. The duck was more of a charcuterie taste. I thought the fat would be wet, but it was dried or smoked or something. It had a flavor similar to a charcuterie chorizo without the spices. The pastry was a cinnamon spiral executed in the French style of layered extra-thin pastry dough. Crispiest crunch outside and chewiest on the inside.”
“Judging by the front of the store I was already expecting a good ice cream shop, however what I wasn’t expecting was to fall in love. If I were to close my eyes and imagine a perfect ice cream, Salt & Straw’s Salted Malted Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough would surpass it by far. Lovely store, great staff, highly recommend.”

“Amazing neighborhood cafe. It's cozy, unassuming and well situated in a cute Plaza in midtown Palo Alto. The breakfast items are all delicious and well prepared, they roast their beans in house in a corner of the cafe and you may get lucky to be there while they do it, great aroma and a nice touch.
The place is run by a wonderful couple, they welcome their usual guests by name and treat the newcomers with much warmth and happiness. It is my happy place to go to go to start my day.”
“My girl enjoyed the Chef’s menu very much (need to post right after a meal otherwise challenging to find photos…).
The small upscale restaurant was popular with a full house with outdoor seating where we were.
Many tables ordered Al la car like I did & they’d leave early. Chef’s menu takes about more than an hour. Bite-size multiple tapa dishes.”
“Great sushi! My favorite is the crunchy spicy tuna roll. The staff is so incredibly friendly, kind and professional. They always provide great recommendations on which sushi to try. The service is quick and the food is incredibly tasty. Such a wonderful gem in the Palo Alto area!”
“First time in Palo Alto. Had been at Stanford Hospital all day and we were craving tacos. Easy place to find.. Staff was friendly and the food we ordered was yummy!! The large Nachos can feed 2-3 people. As for the tacos, love a taqueria that's not skimpy on the meat! Definitely coming back! 😋”
“Among all of us we had the Rose, Kulfi, vanilla, strawberry, chocolate, and also the puppy icecream. All the flavors were really nice and you could see real vanilla bean powder, nuts in the different flavors. Pepper did not stop licking till her icecream was done and then was looking for more. The people behind the counter were very friendly and kind to our chaos. We will definitely be going back.”

“i love this place! the flavor options are great and authentic. i had ube ahboong and it was delish. the taiyaki was also really good! it comes with a free macaron cookie and more toppings, pretty good deal for $7 imo! also service was very quick. hopefully i’ll be back!”
“City Hall Cafe in Palo Alto is a hidden gem. Service is warm, fast, and genuinely welcoming. The breakfast is consistently excellent, with fresh ingredients and comforting flavors. Owner Sandy’s homemade touch shines in every dish, making mornings feel personal, relaxed, and always worth returning for again.”
“This is not a negative comment but more of my opinion. Of course the food is amazing. The ambiance is clean and organized. My issue and maybe this was just my fault. I asked for a chicken soup and the cashier explained that it comes fried I was confused so I asked fried chicken in a soup she probably didnt hear me or I didnt understand her. I said yes to the order. Chicken soup, 4 tacos and a super burito for my family as well. I get the order and I always like to check so I did and didnt see the soup I ordered so I go to the counter and tell the lady I ordered soup she said no you ordered fried chicken with rice and beans I was like no I want the chicken soup. Well didnt want to make things worse I asked if she can just change it and make me the soup, she told me she cant. Again not to make things worse I just told her we'll ill pay for the soup can you make me the soup.(my 4 year old was sick and wanted soup) so it was important to get the soup.
I waited another 10-15 mins to get the soup.
Like I said maybe I didnt explain her what I wanted or she didnt understand me.
After spending $75 on all the meal I felt that she could have just changed for the soup. Repeated the order to make sure the order was correct.
I have worked in fast food industry for many years and I am not saying customer is always right but rules can be bent a little.
Just my experience not been negative.”
“I first discovered Philz Coffee while visiting my husband's workplace, where there was a Philz on campus. Since then, I've visited just about every Philz location throughout the Bay Area, and it has become my favorite coffee shop.
The coffee and pastries are consistently excellent, but what really sets Philz apart is the people. Every location I've visited has had friendly, upbeat, and genuinely welcoming staff who make every visit enjoyable.
I'm temporarily living in another area now, but every time I return to the Bay Area, my first stop is always Philz. Ironically, I'm currently living somewhere that's supposed to be famous for its coffee, but honestly, nothing compares to Philz. The quality, the atmosphere, and the people keep me coming back.
I can't wait to move back to the Bay Area in a few years so I can once again stop by Philz whenever I want.”
“We were weary travelers stopping by Scotty's in hope of a more chill vibe with some good food, and Scottys delivered! Our bartender, Sergio, was so friendly and fun! We got some inside knowledge about the town as we are from Oregon. The drinks were perfect and the food was top notch! I would have expected to pay a lot more for the quality of food and service we received at literally any of the surrounding places. We will visit Palo Alto again if only to go back to Scotty's as a new tradition! Thank you, Sergio, for making our anniversary dinner a great one! Someone give him a raise!”
“Cheerful welcome greeting, seated quickly and attended to throughout a very good meal.”
“Nice place to eat, I only give the food 4 stars because the little differences in their rolls compares to others I've had with the same name just wasn't really for me. I ate them and enjoyed them as best I could and had no issues with them just not the best I've tried of rolls with that name.”

“Hello if anyone somehow stumbled by this website because they want to check out Como Esta taqueria I have some answers. A relative is a worker there and I spent a summer there (If you saw a 6 year old cleaning tables a bit less than a decade ago - yup that was me, I appreciate the tips I was a very happy kid that summer). Regarding the comment of that they don’t sell beer there, they do but its limited to maybe 3 brands (all Mexican ). It’s definitely a place you should go in person! The space is small, but there is a few tables outside, and it has a homey vibe (at least to me). Since I spent so much time there - you guessed it I’ve tried some of the menu, the reason I don’t say most it’s because there’s way to much to cover and I’m a bit biased to my favorites. This includes: the fish tacos, regular burrito mojado the meat has to be Biiria, any burrito at that fact, and the tacos are good. I can say everything is authentic unless you add super to the name then that’s just for the people who think sour cream and lettuce should be in your burrito ? . ( no judgement) the salsa is flavorful ,but not spicy you have to ask for it to be spicy. Now without offending anyone I have to say the reson why the salsa isn’t spicy is because most people who visit can handle spice except a certain group of people. I know most of the workers and they all are very nice people. What some of the negative comments have said is that they were laughing at them and that they were disrespectful, I have to say this if you don’t understand the language don’t be quick to judge , take in consideration you walked into a taqueria not a predominately English speaking restaurant. I know that if you are a regular there they treat you like close friends and may tease you , but at the same time ask how have you been since your last visit. (Not to say new costumers aren’t welcome , but it’s kinda of the energy and attitude you put in , will be the one you get)I even know a grandpa that goes by “Tio “ uncle in English because that’s there nickname for him. If you are still here with me , (I hope you are )I have one last final comment. Everyone has bad days no one is perfect, and trust me they have good hygiene the manager and my relative make sure while they do switch roles multitasking , everything is sanitary. I can say this because I’ve been harshly scolded on how I should wipe tables , and a few years later, how I washed dishes. Another reson why you should trust me is because a few workers have a bit of OCD on clean things and how should it be done. (Imagine how I feel, I live with one). If you ever visit please say thanks to the workers since some have had bad chemical burns, normal burns, cuts, and sprained hands while trying to give you the best service possible!”
“I look forward to the Mitchell's ice cream at Scoop, and a HUGE variety of flavors. I stop by whenever I visit Palo Alto (from up the Peninsula). All of the employees (except one who plays such obnoxious music that even I won't go inside the store) are exceptionally nice and helpful. Otherwise, the music played in very entertaining and appropriate. And they DO give samples! But not until after you buy, and they call it something else besides a sample. It's a sad fact that here in San Mateo there is NO good ice cream place, either Downtown or near Downtown. Perhaps Scoop could consider expanding northward (hoping they read this glowing review).”
“had a wonderful night at BISTRONOMIE by Baumé for my husband's birthday! Even though we were not the only customers, the way the restaurant is arranged made us feel like we were having our own private, intimate meal. Every plate was stunningly beautiful and the compositions of flavor and texture were truly a new experience. Even the plateware and cutlery kept drawing our attention as elegant pieces of art. The service was wonderful, we loved how friendly, funny, and warm both the wife and son were. They really made us feel welcome and at ease. I would highly recommend to visit this place. We're not the type to frequent restaurants of this caliber so we usually reserve these types of visits to special occasions, but we are hoping the menu will change (maybe seasonally?) so we can use that as an excuse to return ASAP.”

“what an incredible combination / fusion of western and asian dishes. basically what I cook at home, except I don't have to cook anything, nor do the dishes. fantastic.
it's really fun how you can get chinese food plus a fantastic fried chicken sandwich in one sitting”
“Had a fantastic team lunch at Hatched in Palo Alto with my office colleagues. We went for a fully vegetarian spread and tried a great mix of their popular toasts and burgers, including Avocado Toast, Wild Mushroom Toast, Ricotta Toast, Heirloom Tomato Toast, Impossible Burger, Portobello Mushroom Burger, Veggie Burger, and Black Bean Burger.
Everything was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully plated. The Avocado Toast and Wild Mushroom Toast really stood out for their rich, well-balanced flavors, while the Portobello Mushroom Burger and Impossible Burger were hearty, satisfying, and perfect for a lunch outing. The Veggie Burger and Black Bean Burger were also delicious and packed with texture and taste.
The service was friendly and efficient, and the ambiance was bright and relaxed—ideal for a casual office lunch. Overall, Hatched delivered a great vegetarian-friendly experience with plenty of variety. Definitely a spot I’d recommend for anyone looking for tasty veg options in Palo Alto.”
“I’ve had such a good time at Zaytinya. It’s a perfect spot to meet up with friends or loved ones. Nice food along with wholesome atmosphere. I had a pup with me so having an outdoor space was so handy. Food was top notch. Salad with watermelon… steak.. oyster. Holly!!! Ridiculously delicious. If you want experience— ask the staff what’s chef most excited about. Be guru for a second. Chef Amiran the best! Thank you guys.”
“Good value of wine tasting options. The escargot were superb. Also great place to have a French breakfast of, e.g., croissant and latte / Café au lait. Several big-screen TVs, so also a good place to watch your favorite game. The owner and rest of the staff are super friendly and will make you feel welcome. Very comfy seating of armchairs and sofas inside make for a great atmosphere. Also has a nice patio.”
“The coffee was good and so were their mochi cakes. My only complaint is that all the seatings were taken by people with laptops working and they look like they’ve been there all day. There was no space for regular patrons to just sit and enjoy their coffee. I’d probably wouldn’t come back for the atmosphere.”
“Good food and atmosphere. Located at the corner of the busy plaza. Went there for brunch over the weekend, tried French toast, chicken & waffle and shrimp Po'Boy. All three items are great and tasty. Two small critics: 1. service is a little slow. 2. the coffee can be improved.”
“A new hidden gem. Small and intimate bar seating only to watch the chefs cook and chat. They are clearly passionate! It's not the most intricate or methodical menu, but more creative, spontaneous, and fast changing (apparently every month!). Food is clearly at the center stage. Come here if you are curious about food.”
“Stopped by Gregorys Coffee at Stanford Shopping Center and got a matcha with oat milk and no sugar. It was smooth and refreshing, and tasted well balanced.
They also have nice outdoor seating, which makes it a great spot to sit and relax while shopping around the area.
Overall, simple but solid coffee stop. Would come again.”
“We try this every year and every year it gets better. We heard they have a new chef this year specializing in this cuisine and we can taste the difference. The beef stew is amazing and so is the beef shwarma. We need to come back and try the other options.”
“We had a great experience getting dinner at Ethel's Fancy - one member of our party had specific allergies which the chef was able to accommodate perfectly. Highly recommended!”
