“We had such a great experience at Kappo. We came on a Thursday evening and sat at the counter which made the whole meal even more fun because we could watch the chefs prepare and plate everything right in front of us!

The tasting menu was creative. Some of my favorites were the halibut, duck broth with miso noodles, taco dorado, and the Liberty Farms duck. The dessert with fig brulee was also such a good ending. Everything felt thoughtful, beautifully presented with interesting flavors.

What I really liked was how intimate and relaxed the experience felt. The passionate chefs (executive chef Nik and sous chef Gryphon) were warm and engaging so it felt less like a formal tasting menu and more like being invited into their kitchen.

Definitely a special addition to Palo Alto and a place I come back to for a date night or celebration! Yummmm! thank you Nik, Gryphon and Nick for a wonderful evening“

“I’ve come here twice to enjoy and work from my laptop on the patio. The views are stunning and in the evening when it’s breezy they even offer blankets despite the rooftop being heated at night. The light bites are amazing— I LOVED the charcuterie board. There is a 90 min limit on the table which is fine so others can also enjoy the vibes. The service was great, Chef Tony came out and introduced himself and I sang his praises, the bartender and server was attentive and helpful and both even let me know on Fridays or the weekends in the summer they bring in a dj! Will definitely be checking that out!“

“A long overdue review of our favorite hangout spot in Downtown MV. It's got everything you want: good food, wine, and service. They have a great wine club that does free tastings once or twice a month, too. It's a fantastic deal. We are grateful to have a fun place like this in the neighborhood!“

Love its tapas style, you can get a lot of smaller dishes to share and try a lot of different items! Service is outstanding!! Every server is so hospitable and you can tell they care about their customers.

We tried a lot of their items, would totally recommend the dumplings, XLB, wonton in chili oil, pan fried bao, skewers such as the ox tongue, salmon and chicken. Kids loved the porridge and ramen too. We got a bottle of sake, it comes with the coolest chilling/dispensing device -- it's an experience!“

“I have had at least a half dozen meals at the Sundeck in the last month. The location is very convenient to the 3000 Sand Hill Office complex, as well as the Sand Hill Circle Residential condos. You can sit indoors or outdoors and have a beautiful view of the Woodside Hills. For breakfast I particularly recommend the egg white omelette and their delicious scones. They also make an excellent latte. Their takeout counter is also excellent. Tables are set up for between two and eight persons, and there has always been plenty of room.“

“Barebottle in Bernal Heights is top notch and has been since they opened. Although the beer in the Menlo Park location is still great, it's weird that it's in Menlo Park. The space seems like it's straight out of a catalog like most things in Menlo Park.“

In my 30+ years of living and dining in Silicon Valley, I’ve sometimes wondered if, beyond “California Cuisine,” there is also a “Silicon Valley Cuisine.” I think this may be the best of it.

After a few visits to Valley Goat, I think this might be the greatest of all time places that reflects what I love about Valley Food. The East Asia, South Asia, and Latin America influences are evident. So are reminders of the Alice Waters farm-to-table paradigm. The sharable dining possibilities also seem part of Valley Cuisine culture. All of this is nestled in a little green oasis created by the Tree House Hotel and Beer Garden near campuses of Google, Meta, and Juniper. Everything we’ve shared there has been novel yet also familiar while appearing and tasting simply amazing. It feels like every dish is very much what I imagine as phenomenal and resonant Valley Cuisine.“

Shoutout to Michelle for helping me out a ton when I was trying to extend my stay. No excuses were made and she found a way to get it done even under difficult circumstances. I mentioned to Gil that my only wish in this world was to go to the Super Bowl and to my absolute surprise, he bought me a ticket! I was stunned and so deeply moved. The beef is like a crispy beef jerky texture. I had a language barrier when ordering so just point what you want on the menu.“
