“Both Vegetarian and Non-Vegetarian food was delicious. Amit, our server, was probably the most friendly and courteous server I've ever had in my life. He brought us a complementary drink and also a dessert at the end!

“update July 2026 : they have maintained the same quality of food over the years which is no easy feat. We love getting food picked up from their new retail location. But the website ordering can be simplified. The timings when they are open is also a bit confusing and it seems like it changes often. I was planning on picking up meals there in the evenings and I try to pick up a bit early before the evening 5 pm snacks rush begins. But it looks like the timings are changed again. The website says Not accepting Orders but the UberEats app shows it's available.
They have the delicious food and quality part down but the long wait times for food pickup/ eating-in, the changes in timings and all of that needs to be ironed out.

Older review: Delicious, hygienic food packed in compostable containers. I have tried their order-ahead and pick up option and the food quality has been consistently delicious. The food is not overly indulgent, making for a guilt-free eating out experience. Since the menu is small and made-to-order, it is all freshly made. You cannot have this in a restaurant set-up where most of the food is partially pre-made. Hope they continue making good quality food and serve retail customers.“

“We were visiting from Hawaii for few days in San Jose, and had a fantastic dinner at Jashn. The Avocado Tikki was delicious, and the Beef Bone Marrow Nalli Nihari was rich, tender, and full of flavor. We also loved the Cloud Paneer Saag and Chur Chur naan. The saffron rice stood out too. Every grain was fluffy and separate, always a good sign.

“This is a reallly wholesome, family-run Indian vegetarian restaurant. For $18, they have a very tasty all you can eat buffet. They bring to your table some fresh made chapati too. There is a delicious lemon pudding for dessert and also always fresh fruit. If you want some good home cooking, this is the place.“

“this food truck is amazing! the atmosphere is very lively with the food also being good. the benne masala dosa with orange chutney and sambar is definitely one of my favorites. the masala is spicy, fresh, and overall delicious. they have other options like regular idli, fried idli, etc. definitely would recommend!“

“Quality of Veg appetizers has gone down. Please don't treat potato wedges as a veg appetizer. A lot of the veg options were south Indian food like 2/4 veg appetizers. The dessert quantity is good but most of them are either too sweet or do not taste good as per the price of the buffet.“

“Brundavan is one of the best places for authentic Indian food in the Bay Area. The food tastes just like home, and I especially loved the biryani.

The weekend buffet is fantastic! It's available every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from **11:30 AM to 2:30 PM**, and it's unlimited. What impressed me the most was that vegetarians have just as many options as non-vegetarians, which is something you don't see at many Indian buffets.

The dessert selection was also excellent. The mango dessert was my favorite and was the perfect way to end the meal.

If you're looking for a proper Indian restaurant in the Bay Area with great food, a wide variety of dishes, and an amazing buffet, I highly recommend Brundavan!“

“This is going to be a long review and with twists.I am regular customer and used to love Jaks food,but on my last visit the food was a little underwhelming. We asked the sever if the chef had changed, and I was telling my husband we will not come back,but what happened after this completely changed my opinion. The owner Kalpana ji personaly came and explained that the chef had changed for a short while but the old chef is back and asked me to tell the old chef what the issue was. I said the basil paratha tasted a little stale so she called the chef and he took my feedback and made me a fresh basil paratha on the spot, which tasted amazing 😍. She also gave us 2 mango lassi's on the house. I am very impressed that they hold their customer's feedback in such regard. So Long story short, definitely coming back and can't wait to give them 5 stars again.“

“My #1 criteria for bay area food is to make it out of the restaurant without severe gastric troubles. Delicious food has become secondary criteria. Based on that criteria the food was 10/10. After a long time I enjoyed good bay area food without having to consume 2 antacid tablets shortly after the meal. I hope this wasn’t a one-off and the restaurant kitchen staff maintain same quality by not storing food in refrigerators with lots of preservatives and baking soda.“

“Shan is hands down the best Indian/Pakistani restaurant in the entire bay area . Food is fresh, served fast (15 min or less) , affordable prices , complimentary amazing chai , and family friendly . I was introduced to Shan 10 years ago and I must admit from day 1 I was a loyal customer . I eat there about 3 times a week and have gotten my family and friends addicted to it . If you dine in and Varnoot is on shift consider your self to be very lucky . He is one of the most kindest hard working sincere employees I’ve come across . He always goes out of his way to make you happy and feel exceptional . If I had my own restaurant I would be honored to have him on board . There’s also a female worker I think Deepo is her name who is also friendly and very welcoming . Sadly I am leaving the bay area so Shan will be for ever missed . Do try them out for your next eat out or even catering event and I guarantee you will not be disappointed. 10 Stars !“

“They have the BEST chamchams and ras malai and their jaggery jalebi is out of this world. The prices are a bit high but worth it for an occasional treat. They have a large variety of savory snacks too. All in all, lots of tempting items here!“
