“This is a reallly wholesome, family-run Indian vegetarian restaurant. For $18, they have a very tasty all you can eat buffet. They bring to your table some fresh made chapati too. There is a delicious lemon pudding for dessert and also always fresh fruit. If you want some good home cooking, this is the place.“

“This is a North Indian/Punjabi-style food truck in the Santa Clara area, one of several Indian food trucks around here. When I stopped by in the afternoon, it was fairly quiet, with just a few people around and a small outdoor seating area.

I ordered dahi bhalla papdi chaat, which was fresh, tangy, savory, and spicy, with good-quality yogurt and chutneys. I also tried two Punjabi-style pinni laddus, which tasted homemade, rich, and packed with ghee, nuts, and other hearty ingredients.

Overall, a nice little spot if you’re craving Punjabi food or Indian street-style chaat. Worth trying if you’re in the area.“

“I visited Kailash Parbat in Santa Clara on a Friday afternoon, drawn by the familiar brand and curious to try it.

The decor is very pleasant, with ample seating and plenty of parking.

I especially liked their booklet-style menu with pictures—so many tempting choices, it makes deciding difficult in a good way!

It has a familiar Indian feel and seems like a lovely place to catch up with friends over chaat and a good chat. 😊

I appreciate warm greetings and welcoming enthusiastic gestures, and would have loved a little more attention to the simple acts of service too—pouring water, asking before placing food… those little touches make a dining experience feel more complete. But they did check in during the meal which was nice.

They accommodated my dietary restrictions, which I appreciated. The food, however, wasn’t quite to my taste. I had come with fond expectations of the brand, and this visit didn’t quite meet them.

“Shan is hands down the best Indian/Pakistani restaurant in the entire bay area . Food is fresh, served fast (15 min or less) , affordable prices , complimentary amazing chai , and family friendly . I was introduced to Shan 10 years ago and I must admit from day 1 I was a loyal customer . I eat there about 3 times a week and have gotten my family and friends addicted to it . If you dine in and Varnoot is on shift consider your self to be very lucky . He is one of the most kindest hard working sincere employees I’ve come across . He always goes out of his way to make you happy and feel exceptional . If I had my own restaurant I would be honored to have him on board . There’s also a female worker I think Deepo is her name who is also friendly and very welcoming . Sadly I am leaving the bay area so Shan will be for ever missed .
