“We went to Surmai yesterday and honestly, the food was fabulous. We tried the prawn thali, the special thali, and the paplet thali, and every single dish hit the mark. We ended up so full we could barely move, but in the best way possible.
Chef Sheetal came by our table and was so warm and welcoming, it made the whole experience even better. You can tell there’s real care that goes into the food here.
Highly recommend if you’re looking for a great meal with genuinely good hospitality. We’ll definitely be back!“

“This is my favorite place to eat Indian food in the bay area! And that's saying a lot given the number of Indian restaurants available. I especially love their bhelpuri and paranthas. The food feels home made and is always hot, fresh, comforting, and delicious. The staff is very kind and sweet. Don't miss out.“

“We visited with friends and ordered Tandoori Veg Momo, Avocado Chaat, Garlic Naan, and Butter Chicken. The Tandoori Momo tasted rich and fresh. The Garlic Naan came soft and had a unique flavor. Everything arrived hot and well prepared. We plan to return soon with our office team.“

“Overall it was an excellent experience. We had the Sufi Kaju chicken (was good) and butter chicken (was good). For starters we got samosa (ok) and one of the mutton dishes (great). They gave us free chai which was a great touch.
The only wish is that I don’t think the garlic naan hit the spot. It was very basic, not very flavorful.“

“We tried this food cart and the experience was okay overall. The chaat options were good —samosa chaat and dahi batata sev puri were both 4/5, but the vada pav was disappointing (1/5). The owner was very kind and friendly, which we appreciated.“

“If you’re craving authentic, flavorful Pav Bhaji, this place is an absolute gem. The bhaji is rich, buttery, perfectly spiced, and served with soft pav that’s toasted just right. Every bite tastes like true Mumbai street food comfort.
Their catering trays are extremely reasonable in price, and the quality and quantity are both excellent. You genuinely get great value without compromising on taste. Perfect for parties, gatherings, or office events.
I highly recommend this place. If you love Pav Bhaji or want to impress guests with delicious Indian food, this spot should be at the top of your list.“

“This restaurant has been a hidden gem for over two decades. I've been coming here since my childhood, and even today, the food tastes just as amazing as I remember.
They serve authentic Indian flavors, and their thali is one of the best in the Bay Area. Whenever I'm in Sunnyvale, I make it a point to stop by for a meal. The prices are unbeatable for the quality and taste they offer.
Everything on the menu is outstanding, and it's impressive how they've maintained their loyal customer base over the years.
During my recent visit, I ordered Papri Chaat, Undhiyu, Pizza Paratha, and the Puri Thali. Everything was perfectly cooked and full of flavor. The Papri Chaat was especially delicious, and the Aloo Matar Sabzi was simply excellent.
If you're looking for authentic Indian food with great taste, generous portions, and reasonable prices, this place is definitely worth a visit.“
“One of the best Puri if you are planning to make pani puri at home. There is a huge difference in the quality and taste compared to buying from any Indian shop. The quality is also better than many restaurants. Try here and share your feedback“

“I’ve been coming to this food truck since 2023, and it has genuinely become one of my favorite spots in the Bay Area. The uncle who runs the place is always so friendly, humble, and soft-spoken, and that warmth makes the experience even better.
Coming from India, finding a vada pav that actually tastes authentic means a lot to me, and this place absolutely nails it. The vada is perfectly crispy on the outside and full flavourful and hot inside, and the combination of the authentic dry peanut chutney, onions, and green mirchi is just amazing. I’ve tried vada pav at so many popular places around the Bay Area—places people constantly recommend—and I can confidently say that this one is very hard to beat.
The chole bhature is another favorite of mine. Absolutely delicious—you really cannot complain about anything. I’ve also tried their masala puri and dahi papdi chaat, and both have been consistently good. This place has never disappointed me. And definitely try their falooda too!
I’ve even been one of those late-night customers calling just before closing and saying, “Uncle, I’m only 5 minutes away!” 😄 Even when everything is practically closed, he has been so accommodating and has kept my food ready for me. That kind of hospitality is something I really appreciate and remember.
If you love authentic Indian street food as they have lots of options, please give this little food truck a try. It deserves a lot more recognition. I’ve been coming here for years for a reason, and I’ll definitely keep coming back! ❤“

“It's a cozy south indian restaurant that serves a wide variety of south indian food. They also serve jain versions of the dishes so a great choice for folks who want sambar or masala dosas without onions or potatoes. The food was decent - personally would prefer Mylapore or Ulavachuru Tiffins but this is a good choice as well.“

“Chaat House — A True Favorite for Over 10 Years
I’ve been going to Chaat House for more than 10 years, and it has truly become one of my favorite Indian restaurants. There are very few places that you can return to year after year and still walk away feeling as satisfied and happy as you did the first time—and Chaat House is one of those special places.
The food is consistently delicious and full of authentic Indian flavors. Every time I visit, I’m reminded why I keep coming back. The menu has so many wonderful choices, and the quality, taste, and freshness of the food have kept me coming back for over a decade. Whether I’m in the mood for a flavorful chaat, something spicy and savory, or a comforting Indian favorite, I know I’m going to have a great meal here.
What I also really enjoy is the ambience. It’s a welcoming and comfortable place to sit down, enjoy a meal, and spend time with family and friends. There’s something about the atmosphere that makes the whole dining experience enjoyable—not just the food. It feels like a place where you can relax, take your time, and truly enjoy being there.
And honestly, one of the biggest reasons Chaat House stands out to me is the owners and staff. They are absolutely awesome—friendly, welcoming, and genuinely caring toward their customers. Over the years, that personal touch has made a big difference. When you return to a restaurant for 10+ years, you appreciate not only great food but also the people who make you feel welcome every time you walk through the door.
For me, Chaat House is more than just a restaurant. It has become a trusted favorite and a part of my dining experience for more than a decade. The combination of great food, wonderful ambience, and an amazing team is hard to beat.
If you love Indian food and haven’t tried Chaat House yet, I highly recommend giving it a try. And if you’re already a regular, you probably understand exactly why people keep coming back!
Thank you to the owners and the entire Chaat House team for all the wonderful meals and memories over the years. Here’s to many more years of delicious food and great experiences! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐“

“After eating biryani at various places across the Bay Area over the last 7 years I can confidently say that this is the most authentic Hyderabadi biryani you can get around here. The meat is so tender, and the flavors are perfect and very close to Sarvi or Bawarchi biryani from Hyderabad. Really hope they do well and stay in business for ever.“

“We hosted our baby shower at the Grant Hall, and it was a wonderful experience from start to finish. The hall was spacious, elegant, and beautifully lit, creating the perfect atmosphere for our celebration.
The food and service were outstanding. Every dish, from the appetizers to the desserts, was delicious and thoughtfully prepared. Our guests thoroughly enjoyed the meal, and we received so many compliments about the food.
We also appreciated how accommodating the team was with our custom food requests to better suit our traditional Indian baby shower. Their attention to detail and willingness to personalize the menu made the event even more special.
Overall, it was a fantastic experience, and we highly recommend this venue to anyone looking for a beautiful event space with excellent food and exceptional service.
Thanks to Arun and Manoj, for helping make our celebration so memorable!“
