Yakitori here is almost the same quality in Japan. You should be careful not to order dishes too much.

I gave it 5 stars, but I wish to give this place 10 stars. It looks very small and nothing special but You just don't understand. The food is delicious. You can't even compare it with anything. You have to eat everything that they have on the menu. When You will do it You will not regret that You choose them because they are simply the best.

Small and cosy restaurant that serves pretty good Japanese yakitori food as well as other Japanese dishes like Ramen, donburi and other stuff. Overall very good standards and can get really crowded. Reservation highly recommended.

Sumiya is an absolute gem! Our to go options any time we crave Japanese food (sushi/sashimi aside). The open kitchen adds to the authenticity, and the atmosphere is wonderfully genuine. We can't get enough of their Yurinchi. Also, if you are adventurous, the chicken liver and heart skewers were fantastic!

Coming back couple years later and still did not disappoint. I remembered their skewers like how it was before, amazing! This time I also got their Paitan ramen and wow it was delicious! The broth is thick and salty, which isn't bad, but I enjoyed it. It was very flavorful! Their noodles are really chewy too. They garnished with chashu woodear mushrooms and bamboo shoots which all compliment the broth well. Service was great! It was fast and they were attentive. I like how you can order through your phone using the QR code they have. Will definitely come back.

Sumiya is a small restaurant inside a more quiet plaza so I'm glad Yelp suggested this place when I was craving skewers. The wait was around 25 min for 2 people on a Friday during dinner time, and we sat right in front of the grilling area. We decided to order a large handful of things to try! Plus it's easy to gobble up skewers quickly. Although almost everything we ordered was delicious, the king oyster mushrooms, beef tongue, pork belly, and gizzards stood out to me the most. And if there's the option to get the negi sauce, do it! The only thing I thought was bland and forgettable was their poached egg rice. Maybe having it in Japan set a higher standard for me but it just lacked any kind of flavor. Our server was hustling the whole night while they had a full house and we had a great meal. I'm already itching to go back!

Excellent yakitori, a bit pricey. The chicken and scallops were my favorites of the proteins.

Another solid place for Japanese style fried chicken and bento. It is not as crowded as the sister restaurant Sumika in Los Altos. The menu is actually more extensive that Sumika as well. It is worth trying if you are looking for a reasonable Japanese food around this neighborhood.
