About Sumika

Sumika is a cozy izakaya-style Japanese restaurant known for its authentic dishes. Customers love the agedashi tofu, salmon and yellowtail hand rolls, and wagyu beef skewers. The clam miso soup is fresh and delicious, and the omelette is juicy. The skewers and side dishes are greatly seasoned and cooked, with dishes like beef tongue, potato salad, fried garlic, and wagyu skewers highly recommended. The restaurant offers a variety of yakitori dishes that are just as delicious as those enjoyed in Japan, impressing even those who have recently traveled there. The Sumika salad offers a mix of flavors and textures, while the oyako-don is a comforting dish with tender chicken. The tsukune skewer is flavorful, though the momo skewer is less seasoned. The yakitori dishes provide variety but can add up in price. The agedashi tofu is a favorite, with a melt-in-your-mouth texture and a sweet, salty dashi broth that creates a rich umami flavor. Overall, Sumika is a great spot for Japanese barbecue and flavorful dishes. Reservations are recommended as the small space fills up quickly, and service can be attentive but may be slower when busy.

I wanted to try something new, and since this place served traditional Japanese, I decided to give it a shot and it was truly amazing! You definitely have to try the grilled rice ball, the beef with apple onion steak sauce, and the maguro-don (tuna) tray. The flavors were so unique and unlike anything I've had before. I absolutely loved exploring new dishes, and the flavor profiles were incredible!
Excellent Japanese skewers and Chazuke. I've enjoyed every visit to Sumika over the years, and it never dissapoints.
Pricy but the food was not bad - the skewers were probably the best and the miso eggplant was interesting
