“Visited on a Sunday and the boat tour is such a hidden gem! For just $11, you get a full one-hour guided tour, which is an amazing value. Bill was fantastic—his narration and stories made the experience even more enjoyable and interesting. We also got to spot a couple of beautiful birds along the way.

“We visited Ones Cafe and Bakery on a Saturday around midday to try some of their popular pastries, and everything in the display looked straight out of a Paris bakery. The selection is super unique and beautifully made.

The croissants were incredibly flaky and tasted extremely fresh. My boyfriend got the fresh tart (kind of similar to an egg tart), and I got the cinnamon monkey bread. They heated everything up for us, and we shared the salted egg cream latte — absolutely phenomenal. As Asians would say: not too sweet, perfect texture, and very balanced.

We actually loved it so much that we brought a friend back the very next morning. This time we ordered more fresh tarts and tried the orange pineapple kouign-amann, which ended up being my favorite pastry overall. The tarts tasted even better earlier in the morning, probably because they were extra fresh right out of the oven.

For drinks, we got the salted cream latte again and also tried the ube latte. We added espresso to the ube drink since it normally doesn’t come with coffee. It still tasted a little mild for our preference, so next time we’d probably try a different specialty drink instead.

Overall, this place completely lived up to the hype for us. Amazing pastries, thoughtful flavors, and such a cozy weekend treat spot. We honestly can’t wait to come back again (probably every weekend at this rate).“

“The macarons were delicious, especially the ube flavor! Even more delicious is the ube cookie with cracked sugar crust. The drinks are great for those who enjoy creamy and sweet flavors. My assam black with oat milk was very creamy, with only light tea flavor. My friend's passionfruit peaflower was intensely was intensely sweet and fruity. The drinks were a great value for the size, and so was the black sugar boba (even if it was a tad stale). We're definitely coming back for more tasty pastries.“

“Always enjoy going to Mod. This place is great for q quick pizza made just the way you like it. The cook made my pizza extra perfect today. Not overcooked or undercooked like I've seen at other spots. Definitely a good choice to grab food here. Plus you can get ant sauces like ranch and hot honey at no extra charge.“

“Wonderful! Today (5/18/26), at around 4:30-5:00 PM, I was craving a fresh, not too heavy meal to satisfy my lunch cravings while on break. I was recommended this specific nick the Greek from a good friend of mine, as it was local, and was said to have great service and good food. When I entered the store, I was pleasantly surprised by how nicely decorated and clean the store was, along with its upbeat, Greek themed atmosphere. My highlight of this visit was the food and service though, as the two employees at the front taking my order were extremely kind, patient, and were actively engaged in assisting me in ordering my meal. I ordered a beef gyro, which was absolutely delicious, filling, and perfectly satisfied my lunch cravings. I also ordered Greek fries, which came out about 1-3 minutes after my gyro came, and they were just as good, a perfect combination with my gyro. All in all, a great, fast, clean, and delightful experience from this restaurant, props to the workers at the cash register! This visit made my day, and I’ll definitely be coming back for more.“

“Love love love their bobas! They are so hot, soft, & fresh. It’s my first time here today & I love their cute shop. Very welcoming, friendly the moment you opened the door. It’s very impressive. I tried the jasmine green milk tea today. It’s a little too strong for me but their bobas won me out. I will definitely comeback!

I got the plum tea with water chestnut boba and it was delicious 😋 My friend and I caught up for hours in the cafe and the owner/workers were so kind and offered us a mochinut! “Real, honest BBQ. I had the 2 meat combo with brisket, ribs, mac & cheese and potato salad. Best BBQ I have had since I was in Austin Texas! The owner was working hard with the rest of his employees and was the one to take my order. He seemed very nice and was helpful. I work within walking distance so I can see myself becoming a regular here. Canyons is an excellent addition to Castro Valley's food scene.“

“Another superb visit to Philz here in Castro Valley. Coral did a great job with my drink. I had the seasonal Iced Apple Cinnamon Roll Cold Brew. Highly recommend this while it is still available. Another employee came around with samples of their Pecan Pie drink and pastries, which was a very nice compliment. I love the atmosphere in here as well, good music and vibes. It makes for a wonderful Sunday afternoon.“

“As someone who is very particular with thier Taiwanese and Hong kong cuisness, the chef at this iTea reminds me of HK with every bite. The Beef Brisket in Coconut Curry sauce is always on point, tasty beef with all the cuts.

The drinks are also made very well, especially the mango pomelo sago. Thier milk tea is also on point, bubble and boba is chewy and not clumpy.

This spot is definitely on my weekly rotation for comfort food.“

“Who would have expected a really good bagel place in Castro Valley? And yet this place consistently impresses. The service is beyond reproach, polite but professional with a smile. The bagels are great: bready, just chewy enough but not so much that it will hurt your jaw, crisp on the outside. Toothsome, would be a good way to describe them. The cream cheese is always fresh and tasty, Overall, for the area, a very good bagel place. PS Try the crepe with whipped cream and Strawberries, yummy!!“
