We have been dining there for over 20 years and sad to see Katsu sold his business. We often talked to his wife when she was there and really gonna miss them.

we are very sorry that our decades long absolute go-to japanese sushi restaurant has closed. we wish katsu-san, his wife, and all the other staff good health, good fortune, and all the best.

All the food is really good. The sashimi is some of the freshest I've had. I really like the saba shiokyaki. It's not too salty but the the right amount of flavor. I also get the rolls, but my favorite is the Lion King roll. The owner and staff are also some of the nicest people you'll meet. They've been busy since announcing their closing, and it's sad to see this place go. I guess I'll be searching for my next go-to sushi restaurant.

I visited Katsu's today & got 2 go to dinners. I was shocked to find out that they are closing Sat.July 17. Katsu is retiring & sold the business. The new owners will be opening in September. This has been our go to Japanese for alot of years (almost 30 years) so sad they are closing but happy for Katsu retiring.

One of the best sushi spots in the east bay. Very simple and traditional. Great service, family owned. I'm a huge fan of their spider rolls and lion king. And they make the best homemade salad dressing! Must try

Happiness is a full belly. Covid-19 review. So can't comment on the ambience. Had the dinner box. 3 pcs CA roll. Basic. Rice, shrimp and veggies tempera. Solid and chix Teri with additional sauce. Miso and salad. All in all avoid meal. Couldn't eat it all. Will have miso , salad and 1/2 Teri chicken for lunch tomorrow. So decent portions. Really happy with the quality and freshness and the crispy burnt edges of the Teri chix. Just hit the spot..;)

This is a small restaurant. It has great Japanese food. It has been in the Lucky shopping center for at lease 30 years!Excellent service, fresh fish and very tasty food.

This is clearly one of the finest place to eat in the region. Anytime I come to this place I am exceedingly satisfied. They always keep their very high standard service and the topmost level of cooking they give. You can never go wrong with this restaurant. Highly recommended.

Very well organised and convenient restaurant. They provide large meals and for fair rates. I loved the menu a lot and the staff were super personal and informative. Highly recommended.

Sushi isn't my thing, but occasionally I have a craving for it. THis place is real sushi, so not covered in sauce. I can appreciate the flavors. I liked the seaweed salad that comes w/the sashimi and had miso soup for hte 1st time. I liked the assorted sashimi. Quick service. Professional service.

Over-priced, bad qualityPrices listed on this online menu found at are no longer honored/valid. The site certainly appears to be Katsu Restaurant's website, but the restaurant says it is not (hard to believe as it looks like at one time it was - in fact - their website). They have just decided not to update it.Even so, the site uses the Katsu logo, menu, etc. It is the restaurant's responsibility to update online menu prices or ask Google to take the website down as to not mislead customers. After viewing their online menu and pricing, we ordered takeout. The actual bill upon pick-up was approximately $15 higher than anticipated since they would not honor the prices listed online. In addition, the chicken teriyaki was overpriced, cold and dry. Sushi was average, but not tasty. Overall, unimpressed with this place and their failure to update an online menu listed on Google. Food quality not worth paying current prices.

Wow,, slimy skin chicken, plus the serving size is an amount you would give a 2 year old. You have to purchase a lot in order to feel somewhat full.
