Lake Chabot is an insider tip for tourists! We discovered this beautiful recreational area by chance a few years ago and were now happy to go there again for a day trip. On weekends you can take a guided boat tour and learn a lot of interesting things about the Bay Area, as the lake was named after the engineer Chabot, who was instrumental in building the water pipeline system in the Bay Area.
Update October 2024:
Still beautiful here! You can get delicious food...
Multiple fire roads that that will bring you to the back side dam area of the lake from Oakland to the lake in a half an hours walk not known to alot of people. Is a wonderful walk.
There are always people around, it's safe, and the scenery is truly spectacular.
It's suitable for walking or running, and you can even bike there. Picnics are also great.
There was a boat dock within the park.
