Castro Valley is whack and nobody knows how to drive, but this place is 10/10 and worth it.

Tiny bakery, there’s no seating inside. A few chairs and tables outside. Quite run down, hole in the wall place. Fake plants, capri sun and v8 juice as drinking options? Doritos for sale, but also $8 croissants. This place is confusing. Would be charming if pastries were good, but food matches how the place looks. Pastries were beautiful, but tastes like nothing. You do not smell the scent of butter when you walk in. Went early morning to get some items so they would be fresh. Tastes stale. Think they sell pastries from the day before in the morning. A shame, I would try to not go right when they open, maybe a few hours later? I got a butter croissant and the croissant was crunchy all the way through, very hard and dry. They’re expensive too! Egg tart was good but raw pastry shell so we did not eat that part. Iced latte was very bad, the latte did not even taste like coffee, and very very sweet. It just tastes like sweet milk. They use artificial syrups. Pastries were not good and coffee was not good. Also no bathroom! Very sad.

They need to learn about customer service. If there is no line and I’m ready to order then why can’t I put in my order?? I was told to wait. I have things to do! So I’m waiting for two and a half minutes for a lady to decide what pastry she wants and I could have put in my latte order and been gone. You just lost a customer because you don’t know what you’re doing. This was my first time visiting and I picked this cafe over two other bakeries. You don’t appreciate my business so now you won’t have it. I was ready to spend and try all these nice pastries.
This is an amazing cafe/viennoiserie. It’s small and unassuming, in a non trendy location. If it was in SF, lines will be out the door. For me, it blew Tartine out of the water. Food reviews are subjective in its nature and although some might disagree with that, you will know immediately this place is serious about their craft.
Orange and vanilla lattes are amazing. Regular latte is also very rich and dense in the best way possible. Orange latte is out sometimes, but I highly recommend you come back and try it.
I tried several pastries here and all were buttery, flaky, luxurious goodness. Black sesame Onigiri and strawberry moon were excellent. I thought there weren’t a lot of chocolate in chocolate croissant but somehow it was right amount once I tasted it. It’s also relaxing to watch barista going through rituals of espresso making without rush you see in most coffee shops.
I’m kinda impressed about this place. I was excited to come and try and it exceeded my expectations. I come here regularly now.

Passion fruit Danish was great!
It’s a bakery more than a cafe, pastries are good, coffee meh. Customer service needs to be improved, I came this morning grabbing coffee and a croissant. I was the only customer there waiting for my croissant to be warmed up and I just standing right next to condiment bar and in front of the counter looking out of the window. All I heard was two girls kept talking and didn’t hear my croissant is ready. A couple minutes later, when I turn back, the croissant was already sitting on the counter, without telling me, when I was just standing in front of them. I don’t think any customers would like to be ignored, it’s not that hard to tell customers their food is ready. I like their pastries, but when you experience with bad customer service, it just downgrades the foods.

“Staff greeted politely and service felt welcoming.”
Saw this viral bakery on Instagram and got to check it out.
The location is in prime downtown area of Castro valley. We got there 30 mins before closing and was surprised that they still had a lot of options left. There were a lot that I was curious about, but we ended up going with the lemongrass chicken croissant and pistachio croissant.
Lemon grass was very delicious. It was chicken thigh and seasoned very well. I wish the chicken was shredded because there were bites that didn’t have chicken in it.
Pistachio croissant is filled with pistachio cream. I liked it alot and would recommend trying this.
Coffee selection was limited at the end of the day. The orange latte was very good.
Love this spot and everyone should try One’s Cafe!

Would return & try savories. Went xmas day 2025, pastries we took home:
▪︎ #1 Our Favorite of 5 had (3)blueberries atop ✨️Passionfruit creme on a tall cupcake shaped croissant🥐 w/most delicious orangey-yellow passion creme on top & inside, the punch of flavor from the fresh blueberry with the delicious passionfruit is hard to beat
▪︎ #2 bowtie shaped with the best cream-cheese creme filling, our 2nd fave
▪︎ Almond croissant was delish, sensed the almond extract essence, try with chocolate
▪︎ oreo on top a vanilla cupcake shaped croissant dough, has nice creme & dense heavy chunk layer of brownie/ganache(?) inside yum, more sugar vs dough on this item & its def a dessert & may not pass as as a breakfast pastry, liked it!
▪︎ ube crescent (purple yam)🌙 refrigerate, lasts 2days, not as sugary, prettiest dough, enjoyed but would try something else
▪︎ some savory options, try the spicy chicken lemongrass pepperjack croissant 🥐

Small corner coffee shop with their own parking lot. Service was very quick and friendly. Ordered a vanilla latte and their spam/mushroom/bacon danish.
The coffee was delicious, not too sweet and their danish was also amazing. The croissant crust is so buttery and flakey, absolutely amazing.
Definitely try a baked good if you initially only came for coffee!
