This place has nice workers, but none of my coupons ever work here!! Crap store…
Good selection of foods & beverages, good services, & friendly staffs.
Usually like this safeway it's near my house and they always have whatever I'm looking for. Yesterday went around 9pm and had the worst experience here. The cashier was so rude. I tried buying alcohol and the cashier refused to look at my ID eventhough I am close to 30 but look young. She claimed I looked underage and insisted on not selling to me. Hire better employees who do their job and not judge someone based on looks. IDs are made to verify age and it's unacceptable that she was refusing to even look at it. Definitely don't go here the place is just going downhill. Drive 3 more minutes to the other safeway it's better.
Great selection of products and produce. Lovely helpful staff.
Bakery let me down today. Order an online cake for my daughter’s days ago and just now called to tell me they don’t have a baker today and NO CAKE for the party today!! HIRE MORE PEOPLE!!!
They did offer to give me 8” ROUND cake but sorry I need a 1/4 sheet….. Thanks Castro Valley Lucky’s for saving the day!
Continues to stock my favorite brands. New refrigerated shelves with doors. I like going off hours... full shelves...empty lines. Pleasant cashiers.
Good neighborhood grocery store..
General poor service. Milk purchased here often goes bad within three days and long before the expiration date. Manager wasn't interested in why. All kinds of water on the floors from refrigerator and freezer leaks. I tried complaining to corporate but no interest. Out of stock on about 15% of the items I needed but that may be common now days.
I wanted to update my review. I'm happy to say that things have improved at this store. The staff seems more helpful and even a bit happier. They seem to have things in stock now and all the refrigerator and freezer leaks seem to be repaired. I think they put some investment back into the store. Changing my rating from 2 to 4.
Great service. Saved 72% with coupons
It was cleaner and better arranged than the last time I visited last year. The produce is fresh. Staff are friendly and courteous. Good place for a quick shopping visit.

Early morning cashier is super inhospitable and makes me feel unwelcome. I have been coming here for years and I feel like I'm treated like a complete stranger. Can't stand this place don't know why I give it any business.
Safeway allows rampant theft. RAMPANT.They couldn't care less about the safety of their employees or their customers. We only shop there in desperation. Safeway is a pathetic joke and refuses to address the problem of theft. They then blame their employees for their losses. We've known some of them for over twenty years.
We shop at Smart and Final,Grocery Outlet, and other stores. One of the employees I've known for ten years wasn't allowed to call the police even after a "cretin" threatened to cut their throats. They have to call corporate first. So, no. Do not patronize Safeway until they decide to protect their employees and their customers. I have no problem defending myself, my wife, or an employee. The only problem is I will get thrown in jail. We don't want to hurt anybodys feelings when they walk out of the store with a shopping cart full of products. Everything from hair care to stacks of steaks. We've seen it happen time after time. The best part? They park in the handicapped parking spot. It's a perfect place to block them in by the police. Since 99.9999% of the dirt bags don't have any insurance, current registration,a legitimate handicap placard, or license. The police can detain and search them. You need to call them. Safeway won't do it. So, don't shop there. I also know a number of San Ramon Police men and women. They will be there in three minutes if called. They have to be some of the finest officers I've ever met in my life. YOU HAVE TO CALL THEM IN ORDER FOR THEM TO HELP.
Here's two photos of a Safeway employee on his phone while working at the self check out. Gosh, I hope he's not working toooo hard. He's also incredibly rude and snotty. This is at the San Ramon store. The poor little fellow!
Good selection, clean store. But, I hate when you have to become a member in order to get normal prices.
The Safeway up the hill at the marketplace I went to the deli this morning to get some salami and stuff like that salami was horrible it was dark brown nasty wasn't good at all and the lady there thought that it was okay to still sell even the other guy that worked there said it was okay it was horrible I buy salami all the time The boar's Head brand and I guess at the Safeway on Castro valley boulevard I have never had that problem there safely up the hill I would never ever go to that Safeway deli again
Safeway is Safeway they are all the same
