Had a Garlic Lime Prawn Burrito, black bean being the default choice is interesting. But the burrito was oddly refreshing. Cilantro rice and romaine lettuce are also unusual default choices for a Mexican place, but it wasn't bad. Pinto and Spanish rice are available upon request. Prawns were cooked hot and fresh, they were still steaming from the burrito. The only issue I had was from how wet the burrito was from the black beans and lettuce, could strain them better for less liquid.

This little shop tucked away in the corner should be given more recognition and praise. Initially, when I decided to give this mom and pop restaurant, I thought they had closed down shop and Google Maps wasn't up-to-date because the door was locked and the lights were off. Out of confusion, I looked around and noticed they shifted to a bigger building just adjacent to the original location.
The building is lackluster. It's one of those buildings that you would pass up and assume the food is tainted and terrible. Quite the contrary, the food was amazing! I ordered their Super Burrito with a side of tortilla chips. Not many Mexican restaurants have this meat choice as an option for a burrito, but they had my favorite meat choice, chile verde.
The burrito consisted of your choice of wrap, your choice of meat, rice, beans, sour cream, cheese, I think lettuce as well, and pico de gallo. Im not a fan of Pico de gallo and had it removed. The food came out relatively quick and was still nice and warm upon reaching my hotel room.
That first bite, and I was ready to destroy that burrito and leave nothing behind. The pork was so tender, juicy, and packed with flavor. Every bite was so savory, I wished it was an endless burrito. This shop is now on my radar, and I hope others give it a chance. You won't be disappointed.

I got the baja prawn tacos which were unedible. They were SO fried and so HARD i couldnt even bite into them. And they dont fit inside the taco. I also got the baja fish taco which was atleast edible but not good because even though I ordered both with no tomatos they still put tomatos on them.
The grilled veggie burrito is on point. So delicious. Even a meat eater will love it.
Excellent burritos! I almost go everyday. Healthy burritos
The steak burrito was amazing
We go there almost everyday! ๐ The burrito ๐ฅ๐ฏ are made from scratch very healthy for you. Best Mexican food!!! ๐
Very flavorful food I always add shrimp to my burrito.
If it has more shrimp that would be great!
If your paying a extra 5$ for shrimp please add a more generous amount.
Overall great food and customer service (:
Ordered a steak burrito with extra meat and add cilantro. Didn't get the cilantro and barley got any meat. Rice is soggy and whole burrito doesn't taste good at all. Second time eating there and the last for me.

Two and a half weeks ago, I wrote a letter expressing my disappointment with a recent visit to Castro Valley burrito shop. Unfortunately, I have not received a response from your end. On July 3rd, I visited the Castro Valley shop and purchased dinner for my family, which included 3 burritos, 1 quesadilla, and 4 sprites. The total amount came up to $75.71 after including a 10% tip. Half way home, I realized that she did not include the Sprites. She asked me to come back but I was already 20 minutes away.
Moreover, when we got home and we started eating our food, we found out that my burrito was filled with rice and lettuce despite explicitly requesting for no rice and no lettuce. Additionally, one of my son's burritos was also incorrect.
My request for refund has been ignored and I have not received a response.

The Burrito Shop has been a staple of the Castro Valley community for decades. This place has excellent Mexican food, a great salsa bar, and a nice little ambience. Their burritos are, as the name suggests, the main show. If you're going to give The Burrito Shop a shot I strongly suggesting following the name and grabbing a burrito.
