Place is awesome, favorite spot for my wife and I and any friends that come into town. The only place in the desert thats reminds me of my time living in NY and the second to none Italian food. Best carbonara and chicken piccata in the desert.

I am a little late at posting this, just getting caught up with my yelps, Great restaurant, a group of us that live in the cove have been coming here for years, we loved Sammy we were very sad to hear that he passed. We will continue to support the establishment, great menu and great food!

My boyfriend and I had an amazing experience here. The food took a little while but once it came out you can see why. It’s fresh and it tasted amazing! Our server Brian, was so sweet and really made it a nice experience for us. He even presented an option for the pasta that wasn’t on the menu. This restaurant is clean and I could see it being a great place for a first date. They also have a bar but I can’t speak to the quality of the drinks because we only ordered water. We will definitely be visiting here the next time we’re in Palm Springs.

We were in town because of a family member's passing and found Sammy's Place because it was close and had good reviews. It's a small place and the appetizers were good; they even created a sweeter sangria for me when I asked. We waited quite a while for our food, perhaps because we were a table of nine. We were getting a little frustrated, but when the food arrived - we forgot all about our frustration. The food was excellent!! We had a favorite spot to get Italian in Cat City/Palm Springs, but now for sure it's Sammy's Place. The Chicken Carbonara was amazing, and everyone else loved their dishes as well. We'll be back!!

Family feeling. Yummy food. Friendly service. There is a reason that Sammy has built several successful restaurants over the years in the Coachella Valley. This is his only one that still belongs to him, I believe.

Incredibly disappointed in our experience at Sammy’s. The reviews had us hopeful, but the entire experience fell short. We were welcomed with a pleasant waitress who welcomed us, informed us they have a full bar, wine, and drinks. Considering the menu had multiple mixed drink options but none of them being tequila, I asked her to ask the bar tender if he had any non-sweet mixed tequila drinks he could make. She came back saying no he doesn’t and continued to judgmentally tell me that most people don’t order tequila drinks with Italian. I wasn’t aware people ordered watermelon martinis with Italian either, which is a main drink on their menu, so it felt like a weird comment to make. We then ordered a bottle of red wine and the tester had sediment in it and was warm and awful, so we asked for a new bottle. As friendly as she was, I saw the encounter with the bartender and they both gave each other faces and he hesitantly (and seemingly annoyingly) gave her another bottle to serve us.We got through a whole bottle of wine and a martini each before our food was served. The angel hair noodles were disgustingly over cooked, the chicken was dry, the fettuccine noodles were undercooked, the sauces were all runny and wouldn’t stick to the noodles so it was like soup at the bottom of the dishes. We left more than half of each of our dishes there and left hungry. It missed the mark by more than a mile for us. We will not be going back to even see if it was just a bad night.Snarky staff that gave us courtesy smiles to our faces and dirty looks behind our backs and bad main dishes. I would give it a one star but the facility itself was very clean, the artichoke tapenade for the bread was good, the soup was good, and the drinks were good minus the one bad bottle of wine. The potential was there, but definitely fell short for our visit.

In a sea of restaurants in the Palm Springs/Cathedral City area there is a gem called Sammy's Place. The extraordinary food that comes out of that kitchen is thanks to super talented chef, Scott Robertson. The reasonably priced menu is varied and not over complicated but everything is prepared to perfection with care and passion. The restaurant is in a very unattractive shopping center but don't let that deter you. This restaurant is definitely worth experiencing.

Heard some good things on Nextdoor. Since Sammy's is only a few blocks away, husband and I made reservations for an early Sunday eveningOne wonderful surprise after another: waitress and busboy (?) were upbeat and attentive; they had my favorite Italian fish dish on the menu... Cioppino, loaded with fresh fish and sea creatures in a light red sauce; the best Italian wine, all bottles at 1/2 price on Sundays; great repore among staff, bartender and customers made for ahappy evening with a delicious dining experience.

Only have nice things to say. A cute spot with great food and warm, friendly service. The complimentary bread was fabulous! We also very much enjoyed the deep fried artichoke hearts. Gnocchi took me straight back to a little trattoria in Italy. The lasagna was as good as any we've tasted in the valley. We'll done Sammy's.

I went with their gluten free pasta and marinara, for something so plain it was flavorful. I also had a lovely little salad with fresh basil and balsamic vinaigrette - I didn't lick the plate but I sure wanted to! I'd love to see more vegan options but what an adorable place to grab a glass of wine or go on a date for some fresh and authentic modern Italian food. The place smells so fragrant with simmering basil and garlic, all the food coming out of the kitchen looked and smelled delicious.

Good food at reasonable prices. Comfortable -- doesn't have the cafeteria atmosphere and unpleasant noise levels you experience at Trilusa. Only downside is location on a shopping center parking lot.

We came here to celebrate our 5 year wedding anniversary. Don't let the unassuming location fool you. Sammy's Place is a diamond in the rough! Upon entry, we were greeted and shown to our table. The decor is simple yet inviting. Our server was very friendly and told us about their appetizer options. We went with calamari, which was great. We brought a special bottle of wine that we've saved for the last 5 years and had that opened for a $15 corkage fee. I ordered the linguine with bolognese sauce and added meatballs. My husband ordered the piccata with white fish. We both loved our dishes. The bolognese sauce was so tasty. The portion was really big and I had a meal for the next day! Of course we had to try their dessert. We got the cannolis and a lemon-filled pastry. I especially liked the cannolis. If you're in the area and want some great Italian food, I highly recommend Sammy's Place. We are definitely going to be back when we visit Rancho Mirage in the future!

I write this as I am sitting in my car outside the restaurant still in a state of euphoria at how good the food was.I had the Gnocci and my husband had the Chicken Parmesan. To say we were satisfied is an understatement. I had to ask for the name of the chef so I can name my first born after them. If you are lucky enough to come in on a night Todd and Farley are working just sit back and enjoy the masters at their craft. The gnocci with pink sauce was so creamy, so perfectly cooked. It was like fluffy potato pillows soaking in a pink sauce hot spring. The chicken parm was perfectly cooked. It was like the chefs took their time with each dish. Thank you Sammy's place for making our anniversary dinner a great experience!
