Saw a large billboard for this place off the 101 and decided to stop over at their Cuyocos location to sample some of their cookies. They were mediocre at best.

Not impressed. Too sweet and the texture of cookies feel very sugary Too bad that I bought 2 dozen without trying first.
Some of the best cookies ever! We always look for Brown Butter cookie locations. Very friendly with samples and this one has ice cream too. I do miss the round cookies though.
Every flavor I've tried which has been all have been all so delicious not too sweet just right.
OMG. The place smells amazing & the cookies are even better!!!
Where did our beloved cookies go? The round delicious cookies hand rolled with love are no longer. We order 40 doz every yearat Christmas time but sadly if they are these square bland bricks still? We won't be giving them away anymore. We were willing to pay 25$ a doz when they were delicious hand rolled with love cookies. But not for what they are selling now.
Very sad. Hopefully they get the hint and go to back to tradition and love.
Workers are very friendly and helpful. They had several samples of their best sellers. They also had a small number of day-old cookies and a discount, which is great.
Ended up grabbing their mixed cookie bundles. Super delicious 😋

What an absolute heartbreak.
My family has been visiting Cayucos since the 1930s. Back when they were hand-rolled into soft, round, salty, perfect bites of shortbread heaven. You could taste the care, the craft, the pride in every warm, golden circle.
But this week? We met their corpse.
The iconic rounds have been butchered into lazy, cold, industrial slabs, sliced into soulless squares like factory scrap. Now you can look forward to taking a bite out of what looks and has the taste of a brick of sand for an unreasonable price. No hand-rolling. No joy. No love. Just blocks of blandness, cranked out in the name of “efficiency” and “cost-cutting.”
And the betrayal runs deeper. Years ago they separated the cocoa and original packs, forcing loyal customers to pay more for what they once thoughtfully bundled together. We gritted our teeth and bore that insult, hoping the cookies themselves would remain sacred.
But now they’ve destroyed even that.
These lifeless squares are pure evidence of a business that no longer respects its product, or the generations of customers who built its name. It’s a hollow money-grab disguised as tradition.
We won’t be back. Not until they care again. Not until they remember that what made these cookies special wasn’t convenience or profit: it was love.
What a waste. What a shame.
We don’t go to the beach for the cookies anymore.
Best cookies ever. On the expensive side at about $2 a cookie.

The cookies are delicious but a bit overpriced. I would have thought that buying a half dozen would make it cheaper than buying 6 individual cookies! I believe the shop could use more coziness and a nicer seating area.
