Gils Tacos is a taco stand on the corner of De Soto & Devonshire in Chatsworth, considered the best street tacos in the area. It is a worthy successor to another previous taco stand. The street tacos are juicy, tasty, flavorful, and loaded up with meat, especially the Al Pastor, which is good and hard to do. The asada also tastes like good meat. They use quality meats cooked to perfection—soft but crispy. The menu also includes burritos, tortas, mulitas, and quesadillas, with favorites being the cow tongue, chicken, chorizo, and pastor quesadilla. Everything is amazing and fresh, with all the fixings like onions, cilantro, red salsa, green salsa, lemon slices, radish, and carrots. The salsas are really good. Tortillas are a bit thin but likely made in house. Drinks like horchata are available, and the pineapple juice is a must-try, though they often sell out. There is no seating unless you sit in your car, making it mostly for take out. Service is wonderful and the line can get long. They have great prices and a notable Taco Tuesday deal. Reviews call it heart stoppingly good, the absolute best tacos in the San Fernando Valley, and a 10 out of 10, with a strong recommendation to return.
