We went here to have some good time as a family. At the time of order we specified that we dont eat meat and ordered non meat items from the menu. Our appetizer that got served to us had meat. Which we identified right away. I brought it to our servers attention and they replaced it with the correct item. At this point, I wanted to give them benefit of doubt because mistakes happen, no big deal. Then we had to remind them three times to give us some chips. Chips were oily and cold. At this point I was like, its okay they are trying. Come to main course, my order had pieces of chicken. Which again bringing to our servers attention they were like yeah chicken some how got tossed into your food. Food overall wasnt greaf. We had a poor experience at this place and likely wont return. Note this was a Wednesday night and they were at 50-60% cap so by no means it was a busy night. Service was slow. Appetizer came out quickly but then it took them about 30 minutes to bring the main course. I really wanted to like this place but cant.

Food is ok. Nothing special. Drinks are good but small. All of it is overpriced for what you get. Good atmosphere though.

Beautiful location in Porter Ranch with great ambiance!
I visited this place on a weekday to celebrate my birthday with friends. The setting is cozy and the overall vibe is lovely. The drink menu was a highlight—lots of unique and creative cocktails to choose from.

The food was good in terms of taste, but the quantity was on the smaller side. We had ordered veggie burritos and clearly informed our server about our dietary preference. However, we were mistakenly served chicken burritos instead. The server explained that there was no veggie burrito option and the chef had made an error, which was disappointing—especially after we had specifically mentioned it.

For the birthday celebration, they brought out a bowl with a single scoop of ice cream and a candle, which was a nice gesture. However, they only provided one spoon, despite there being four of us at the table. Small details like this, along with the earlier mix-up, suggested the staff may not be fully trained. That said, the girl serving us was very polite and sweet throughout the experience.

Overall, this place has potential with its lovely ambiance and great drinks, but the service and food portions could use some improvement.

Visiting my mom and I wanted to take her out(hasn’t been in a restaurant since Covid). Walked in to get a shot of tequila At El Popular while I took my mom to pick some groceries around the corner.

I ordered a shot, the rim was disgustingly covered in salt… and before I even took the shot. The bartender with the long black hair and some facial tattoos, brought me the check, I felt unwelcomed. The shot itself didn’t even hit right. $12 dollars and I didn’t even get to enjoy my complimentary chips and salsa. My mom was also, like .. WTH. The worst shot ever. $12….

I love coming here for business meetings or with my team. They have a very cool ambiance and the food is delicious. They have a selection of cocktails, appetizers, and entrees that will make everyone happy. Great addition in the Vineyards.

So disappointed with this restaurant, we’ve tried to give it a chance and on three separate occasions it’s been more than disappointing the food the service, but especially the bar.

What a fun date night spot! This Mexican restaurant is located in an outdoor mall with water features and grape vines, a movie theater, and plenty of shopping opportunities with a massive parking lot. We were given the option to sit outside, but unfortunately their patio is enclosed, so you can’t enjoy the outside breeze and it feels significantly hotter than the surrounding area. The inside however is a total vibe with low lighting from table tea lights, plant walls and vibrant blue neon signs. There are lounge chairs/sofas, a bar, booths and regular tables to choose from for every occasion, with lo-fi techno and EDM thump tracks playing in the background.

Food-wise, everything was a hit, though some adjustments could be made here and there. The chips and salsa were really good, featuring a slightly chunkier salsa that’s smoky and slightly spicy. The tortilla chips are really thin, crispy and freshly fried, though we found out they don't make their tortillas in-house, so they probably just cut and fry them from a preferred brand. They aren’t salted, which normally I would argue should be a given, but it allows the salsa to shine.

The Corn Off the Cob Salad was the best discovery in my opinion because it presented familiar flavors and textures in a new and balanced way! It’s topped with a parmesan and ground chili mix that traditionally coats elote, which complements the heavy lime dressing and chunks of creamy avocado really well, and corn nuts for an added crunch. The banana peppers and raw onions add a nice spicy kick over mild greens and a slight bitterness from the arugula.

The queso fundido is served in a very shallow pan, which allows more of the cheese to crisp up on the bottom, while the top is broiled. The corn tortillas served on the side have an unexpected coat of sweetness. The rice was unexpectedly spicy, but still tasty. The shrimp in the fajitas were juicy and cooked well, but the chipotle sauce on top overpowers all other flavors on the plate. The steak was nothing special, but thankfully not overcooked or dry. The onion and peppers really brought the fajitas together with a caramelization that made them soft, yet still had a bite.

We saw the sign outside that mentioned CDMX, and since I have close ties to CDMX, we decided to give this place a try. It was a Sunday around 4:00 p.m. when we walked in. The atmosphere was dark, cool, and refreshing, perfect for the hot afternoon. It wasn’t crowded, and there was plenty of seating available. We were greeted right away, seated promptly, and even offered a kids’ menu for our 2-year-old. The waitress was attentive, patient, and answered all of our questions with a smile.

Food & Drinks
-Guacamole with Chicharrón: The chicharrón was delicious with a limey kick that paired beautifully with the guacamole. Even my toddler couldn’t get enough of it.

-Kids’ Carne Asada Tacos: Generous portion, flavorful steak, and definitely toddler-approved.

-Birria Burrito: Hearty, satisfying and worth trying.

-Carne Asada Plate: At first glance, the plate seemed small, but it was actually plenty of food. The steak was the highlight since it was perfectly seasoned and cooked.

-Agua Fresca Flight: A fun way to sample everything. My personal favorites were the horchata and the pineapple-mango, while the blueberry-hibiscus and cactus-pear-pomegranate were great for those who prefer something less sweet.

Service & Atmosphere
What stood out most was the service. Aside from our server being excellent, the GM (or manager) also stopped by our table to check in, which added a personal touch to the experience.

Family-Friendly Touches
As a parent, I appreciated the thoughtful details, like a better-than-average changing table in the restroom. Small things like this make a big difference for families dining out.

Final Thoughts
Overall, we had a great experience. The food was flavorful, the portions generous, and the service attentive. Reading some of the harsher reviews online, I honestly don’t understand the 1-star ratings. This place is clearly putting forward its own take on Mexican cuisine, and they’re doing it well.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ — I would definitely come back. I'll do. f/u review when I come back and take pictures this time.

I wish I could give more than 5 stars. My husband and I came here after a few friends had highly recommended it. We were looking for a special date spot where we could eat a nice meal and also open the results of the gender of our baby. We never planned to do any kind of big gender reveal, we just wanted something intimate and sweet. Our server, Alex, greeted us and overheard us say that we were there to celebrate something special. After asking what the celebration was, she kindly asked if she could do something special and surprise us. We, of course, said yes and we let her view the gender results. At the end of our VERY delicious dinner, she came to the table with several other employees, had us close our eyes, and set up the most adorable reveal for us. Alex, the restaurant manager, and all the other employees involved made this experience so much more exciting and special than we could have ever imagined. Neither of them had to do that but we appreciate it more than they will ever know. Not only is the staff incredible but the food and the drinks are top tier! There was not a single thing that we did not like. Thank you so much to Alex and the staff at La Popular for making our day and being a part of something so special to us. We are forever grateful!
