When we walked in and asked to be seated in a different area, there was no ‘we don't have servers in that area' or a blanket ‘no'. The front desk gal immediately said ‘sure...no problem'. Food was great, service was excellent and server included a little special sparkler for my sister's birthday. Very accommodating. I will be back with my husband next time.

Background music is louder than one would expect, this coupled with the loud crowd next to my table made it a bit difficult to have a conversation with my bestie.

I took my boyfriend here for his birthday with a group of 8 people. I am so disappointed in how bad the service was. It took 35 minutes to get water for the table and another 20 minutes for the server come back to take our order for starters and drinks. We never got any refills on our waters, and we ordered beers and could not get ahold of our server to order more drinks when we finished those. The food was surprisingly good, but the whole experience was ruined by the lack of service. The tip was included in our check (probably because of our party size), and the server gave attitude when we didn't tip extra on top of the automatic tip. Ridiculous considering how she didn’t even check on us once when the food arrived. My boyfriend had to get up to find her to tell her we were missing a meal. Would not recommend coming here for celebrations

Had a few friends suggest trying La Popular. I had chicken and shrimp fajitas and they were quite delicious! The chips and salsa are very good! Staff very friendly and courteous. We had an early dinner so wasnt crowded. Highly suggest trying this place. It really was delicious!

We went here for my SIL's birthday dinner. When we arrived there was nobody at the front for about 5 minutes, with us standing there awkwardly (and there isn't a whole lot of space at the front for that). After we finally got checked in, zero acknowledgement of how we were there for a birthday (in which I selected that when making the reservation), weren't told where to stand or go, and we had to continue to wait for another few minutes in which during that time we overheard staff bickering to one another about the front desk situation as well as other stuff. It seemed like nobody knew what the hell was going on, and there were tons of tables open and available. When we finally got seated, even more issues with their level of “service” popped up, with our waitress barely being present during the entire meal. We ordered 3 appetizers, some non-alcoholic beverages, and entrees. The appetizers came out at random times (one was a ceviche, one was guacamole, and the other was a salsa sampler set). The ceviche and guacamole came out at the same time with the salsa flight and even more chips when we were almost done with the appetizers. The ceviche needed more lime, could've benefitted from the habanero salsa provided with the salsa sampler set, and the chips themselves were cold. My meal was under a plate warmer, which dried out the rice and beans, and my MIL's tortilla soup was almost nothing but chicken. We had to ask the waitress for more water, she didn't stop by to ask if we needed anything or how the food was, and we sat there awkwardly for what felt like forever to even try and get the check. When she started to clear the table she left the birthday girls plate there for 10+ minutes with everything else cleared away, and it took another 10+ minutes after getting the check to be able to pay. I've been to the actual Ciudad de México quite a bit, and I never had this poor of a dining experience there, so what happened was an embarrassment to the city.

Very nice place to have a get together. I requested a booth online when I made the reservation and was given a really nice one. My friends and I enjoyed our evening, but one member of our party had hearing aides and found it difficult to hear over the noise of other diners and the background music. It was a little noisy, but most people would not be bothered by it. Food and drinks were great. Wonderful service as well.

I dined here on a Tuesday night, and it was a lovely experience. There was even a DJ, which was a nice surprise for a weekday. The restaurant was quite busy, and despite not having a reservation, they seated us inside and took our order right away.

Last evening, I was extremely disappointed with both OpenTable and the restaurant. I made a reservation through the OpenTable app and arrived at the restaurant as scheduled. Upon arrival, we were told to wait because the restaurant had been overbooked due to an OpenTable error. However, there was no waiting list, message, or app-based notification provided to keep us informed. After waiting for more than 30 minutes with no updates, we asked the manager at the reception desk when our table would be available. Instead of receiving a clear or courteous answer, her response was shockingly rude—she told us that if we didn't want to wait, we could go somewhere else. Having used OpenTable for over 10 years and having previously enjoyed several visits to this restaurant, this experience was especially disappointing.

The food was fantastic but the service was horrible. We placed out appetizer and drink or quickly but tried to flag down our waiter for over 10 minutes to place our entree order. We also had to get another server to get our waiter to refill our drinks. At the end of dinner he took our dessert order but he never brought it. Instead he brought a scoop of ice cream for my birthday dessert but not what we ordered. The bill came and he had not charged us for the churros but I was extremely disappointed as that was what I wanted for my birthday dinner. Not sure if we will return due to the poor service.

The food is outstanding. This is *not* just "bar food." The tortilla soup and ahi tostadas are great - and the tortilla soup (shared with my wife) and ahi tostadas were my dinner last night. The premium margarita is great - and the small pitchers of it ("family size" if memory serves) are, if our math was right, much more of a discount from the per-glass price than are most pitchers. We love La Popular. It's a great place to get together with family, especially when (unlike last night) the weather is nice enough to dine outside.
