I was very disappointed at the quality of service and the food. I ordered from the menu "smothered pork chops" thinking I'm getting 2 for 16.95 and a side dish. First off it took about 10 min just to take my order then another 25 min to bring the food, which consisted of only 1 pork chop and a side of garlic mashed potatoes and gravy. The (single) chop was just ok, but the small portion of mashed potatoes had a huge chunk of unmashed whole potato (it's on the left in the picture ) and the actual mashed potatoes were runny and bleh. Very disappointing . . .

Ehh, company ordered catering. Wasn't a fan. Greens had no smokey flavor, just boiled with onions and celery. Mac n cheese had either cinnamon or nutmeg, not a fan. Sweet potato pie was not firm, we couldn't get that "perfect" slice. Pass.

These guys took 45 minutes to come out with the chicken sandwich and they brought out several other peoples food before mine who had ordered after me. This is the kind of thing that really puts a bad taste in your mouth for a restaurant that they need to acknowledge in the moment and rectify for having such Trash service

There’s no way possible this restaurant should pop up on Google when you type in best soul food in la.. not even close , the sides are TERRIBLE, like I been there once and will never go again.. the only spots that were honestly terrific was Ann’s soul delicious la and fixins.. try either one of u want good soul food… les sisters food tasted like white ppl made the sides and the meat is barely seasoned.

This was my first time going to this restaurant. I was excited to find out this was a southern food here in the valley close to home, because Roscoe’s is too far away in LA. I ordered the 12 pieces fried chicken family meal. Came with 2 sides and corn muffins. I also ordered a side of Mac and cheese and a sweet potato pie. The owners need to know the truth about the elderly lady they have at the front cash register she so so rude. She said with an attitude “NEXT time you do a big order you need to place a catering order.” I said “what” for 12 pieces of chicken I need to place a catering order??? “Never heard that before.” All I know is that it’s not what you say, it’s how you say it.
NO CUSTOMER SERVICE.
We brought the meal home, I open the chicken it was overcooked and very well done and one more second I would say it would be burnt. It looked burnt. The chicken was very dark burnt like with burnt taste to NO TASTE.
The only side dishes I enjoyed was the mashed potatoes/gravy, coleslaw and Mac & cheese.
This is my honest comments and review.

I recently visited this restaurant, and my experience was a bit of a mixed bag. First, let’s talk about the positives: the service was good. The staff was attentive and friendly, ensuring that I had everything I needed throughout my meal. The restaurant itself was clean and well-maintained, making for a comfortable dining environment.

As for the food, I ordered the fried chicken with coleslaw and beans. While everything was cooked well, I found the flavors to be fairly average. The chicken didn't quite capture the Southern style that I was hoping for; it was okay but not particularly memorable.

However, the star of the meal was undoubtedly the beignets. It was my first time trying them, and they completely blew me away. Light, fluffy, and delicious—these were a real treat and a highlight of the meal.

In summary, while the service and beignets were great, the main dishes left me wanting a bit more flavor. I’m not sure it’s a place I’ll rush back to for Southern-style chicken, but I’d definitely recommend stopping by for the beignets which are only served on Sundays.

Thank you from a restaurant that does not treat drivers well when they pick up their orders, which take up to half an hour for $6

I have passed by this place so many times an was excited to finally try it. I ordered meat loaf garlic mashed potatoes an Mac and cheese. My BF ordered catfish a Mac…. We were sadly disappointed. The Mac was nothing from the south but more like something from a bag. No flavor no seasoning . The same with mashed potatoes. They tasted almost instant mixed with some real . But NO SEASONING. The meat loaf was horrible. Definitely “not ya mamma” meatloaf. The meat had a weird texture a tasted idk even know it was nasty almost tasted not cooked t though or imitation meat…? I ate 3 bites of each item before I couldn’t take it . The cashier heard me talking about how bad it was a seen I barely touched it. Then asked me if I liked my meal. I politely said no ma’am . An she did nothing. She brought my BF a box for his fish( the only good thing) a gave me a to go menu a said I should try the fried chicken ??‍♀️ . Pretty disappointed I left menu an will not go back! Nothing about this place was southern it was extremely hot inside . My car would have more comfortable dining experience .

If you're looking for authentic soul food, I would recommend steering clear of this restaurant. The dishes here are a far cry from what you'd expect; the flavors are bland, the portions are small, and the food was barely warm when it arrived at the table. The service left much to be desired as well—our server seemed uninterested and took an incredibly long time to bring our orders, even though the place wasn't busy. To top it off, the prices are unreasonable for the quality of the food. Overall, it was a disappointing experience, and I won’t be coming back.

Just happened upon this Southern Food place and absolutely glad I did. The menu is everything that I miss from home in Texas and the Deep South. Cajun, soul, fried, seafood and COLLARD GREENS!!! Will definitely tell everyone I know about this place and will be back every single time I’m in Chatsworth.
