I'm posting this here considering yelp and google are don't have enough space in their reviews for my character count. Living in the valley my whole life, there are only a few businesses that come to mind when I think of community participation, service, and staples of small business with hard working character. When I think of Chatsworth 4 of them come to mind. Los Toros, Munch Box, Les Sisters', and Finally Uncle Ernie's. The big 4, everyone knows about them just through word of mouth and high quality food/ service. So it pains me to see such a community giant fall into the hands of someone who, over the last 2 years has slowly ripped the soul out of this place. I'm not one of those people that talk friendly to staff or get to know them but I do make observations. Through talking to the community and coming in and seeing for myself every couple weeks I can see why this business is tanking the way it is. For those who don't know, the man who built this business and ran it for decades passed away several years ago now, leaving it to his wife. A real servant to his community, this man fostered great connections to the community through sponsorship of local jr. league baseball teams, which you could see from all the AAA Pirates plaquards that used to be on the walls, donating to, as well as actively participating in local community & government organizations, generally being helpful and generous to other people running businesses around him, trying to sew success in everyone around him, and keeping the spot a cozy and low-key home where everyone could come to and feel welcome. This place was the vibe. Down to earth staff who speak their mind, Ms. Pacman for all the regulars for the real nostalgia, cushy green chairs for that real new York pizza place feel, and high quality ingredients which always hit (with the occasional mess up from a hard working employee who was just a little stressed with the large number of orders coming in.) Also if you were to come in on any weekday around lunch, you were most likely to see him there talking someone's ear off about the store or listening to them about what is going on in their life. While I'm sure she tried her best, after COVID you could tell his wife was struggling to keep up, still contributing to the community and making connections with all the people her and her husband had related to over the decades, closing the dining room hit the feel of the place hard. The environment was straining her. So she sold it to the man who owns Amazing Siam next door to Uncle Ernie's. Most likely thinking that as someone I'm sure her husband helped thoroughly as his own next door neighbor, he would respect the business and the legacy he was buying into. What a precious and hopeful thought. As a loyal customer I've still kept on ordering because it's important to invest in your community pillars and buy local to enrich the economy. Let me tell you all the things he's changed. Upon hearing that she has sold the place I came in and noticed the dining room was finally open again. "At last" I must have thought then, as I could come in and feel the ambience of this place. A breath of fresh air. That was short lived. No less than a month after he bought the place, I started noticing the quality of food dropping. Not the way the food was prepared, I mean the ingredients they used to prepare them dropped off. Cuts were made for saving on money I'm sure, but at the time the roast beef went from home cooked, peppery, well seasoned beef to slimy, overly salty, acidic, dollar store trash. The turkey went from thinly sliced deli cuts that tasted like real turkey to just fatty metallic pulp thrown on a roll. The ham on their cold cut sandwiches flip flopped between their well rounded original flavor to grocery store trash. I'm guessing by push back from some of their veteran staff, some of these quality ingredients got put back in rotation but sometimes I would go in and the low quality products were back on my food. We were staying at a hotel in waking distance to Uncle Ernies. We placed an online order and everything was ready by the time we made it there. The sausage pizza was fantastic and really hit the spot for a late day lunch. The staff was very efficient and friendly. Thumbs Up!!
Its just okay pizza; basic, kinda hard and kinda dry

Grew up going every almost every weekend. I finally move back to the area to find out it has new owners that got rid of so many popular item's. The cold sandwich section sucks now, they no longer have the chicken creaser sub but they have all the ingredients to make it... so lazy and clueless. DO NOT GO HERE!

After telling them that I had been stood up for my birthday, they did everything they could to make me feel better, including the delivery driver wishing me a happy birthday and writing happy birthday all over my containers!
Thank you Uncle Ernie's staff for making my failed birthday considerably happier! Not to mention the food and service is fabulous here!

Since my favorite pizza joint closed down in Granada Hills, I have searched far and wide for a pizza that provided the same savory bite. I've tried many pizzas who were highly recommended only to be disappointed. By chance, yesterday I stopped into a seeming hole in the wall called Uncle Ernies Pizza to check out the quality of their pizza. All I can say is after my first bite, I was moved nearly to tears because of how delicious this pizza was. I also ordered spaghetti and meat balls with their special meat sauce and again was met with a level of savory that I have not experienced in quite a long time. I will be making the drive from Granada Hills to Ernies Pizza anytime I have a craving for fine Italian food. Also, workers were very friendly.
