Big Tuna Sushi Bistro

Lunch with my daughter at Big Tuna was nothing short of amazing! From the moment we walked in, the vibe was warm, welcoming, and had that “we’re about to have some seriously good sushi” feeling.

We kicked things off with a bowl of perfectly salted edamame, the kind that makes you keep saying, “Just one more,” until suddenly the bowl is empty. It pairs well with their branded hot sauce. Then came the sushi feast, and wow! Fresh, colorful, and plated like edible art. The rolls were as delicious as they were beautiful (the kind that makes you pause mid-bite just to appreciate the moment).

My daughters rolls we awesome, she let me try them,, and let me tell you, the balance of flavors – from creamy avocado to fresh tuna and crunchy tempura – was spot on. Every bite felt like a little celebration. And the Saba? Absolutely melt-in-your-mouth perfection. I adored the coconut shrimp roll, who would have known?

Big Tuna has that rare combo of great food, friendly service, and a menu that makes you want to come back just to try everything else. If you’re ever in Chico and craving sushi, this place is a must!

Amazing service and fresh fish. Great atmosphere with unique menu options. I was skeptical about the eggplant taco, but it did not disappoint. Highly recommend stopping by and stuffing your face with some delicious and affordable sushi.

The Japanese tacos are incredible!

The women they have who answers the phones somehow always finds a way to butcher the order. When you explain to her that the order is wrong (in a nice way) she talks down to you and says its your fault EVERY single time.. yet when you order the same thing with anyone else, she happens to be the only person to ever get it wrong.. This is the 4th time she has messed up a simple order of 3 veggie roll with spicy mayo and cream cheese.. If a women picks up when you order either go in person or ask to talk to literally anyone else in the building

You really missed the mark tonight. We have been loyal customers for over 15 years. The food is always excellent. However, tonight, one of your servers thought is was appropriate to ask us to leave since they had a large group coming that they did not plan accordingly for. Sure, we were done with our meal and only drinking wine, but it completely caught us off guard. I think it's important to note, that we had not been there more than two hours. In addition, there was plenty of open seats in the restaurant at this time. Even the server who was asking us to leave admitted that this was "completely unprofessional". It was such an uncomfortable interaction that we do not plan to come back. If you want to keep loyal customers, please improve your customer service and communication. Thank You-

Cool vibes here. After a few shots of hot sake everything seems to get better but I couldn't help but be a little disappointed by the size of the sushi rolls. Not bad by any means and the ramen, bentos and rice bowls were all filling and tasty.

Super fresh and creative! Sushi chef made me a “chefs choice roll”. I requested spicy and he did not disappoint?. Fantastic!

I like the place and the food but on my last visit I felt the rolls were much smaller than times I previously visited, definitely smaller than other places in town. My pricing included the hot Sake I ordered so it’s not a reflection of just food.

nice dining experience, service was a little underwhelming and the food we got was decent but I wouldn't call it my favorite sushi spot. definitely a nice little place to have lunch with some friends
